The solution would have been so easy. The answer to this problem is artificial shortages, but they seem to be too consumer friendly to resort to this kind of scheme, their motto is #4theplayers after all.

I'd love that, and I think it would be necessary for the franchise not to stall. They can't just stack up new 4vs4 modes.

I wonder if it might make late H1 2019 and which month Nintendo will leave empty for it, consecutive months for Fire Emblem and this could be an interesting one two punch to build the RPG fanbase on the hardware even more.
Not to mention the bunch of remasters that should come in Q1/Q2 (Chocobo is winter so I assume February to avoid March bloodbath, Crystal Chronicles could be April or May)

My guess is either Golden Week or July (like the initial release).

That seems like a fair assumption, if it's Golden Week they should share a release date at Jump Festa, otherwise it's guaranteed to be for Summer.
Now for Fire Emblem it could fit anywhere between late April (like Awakening) or late June (like If), one month at least between the two titles would be nice.

If there is a Famitsu early report, these days they do it on Wednesdays, a few hours before the official numbers.

So looks like smash will sell a metric ton this week now just have to wait and see how much HW is moved. Hoping for 300K+.

300k+ is absurdly high. It would be exceptionnal to be there with bundles already being sold the last 3 weeks.

Anything above 200k would be good imo.

I don't think 200K would be bad I'm just hoping to see a massive week. It would be exceptional but it's not too often you have a game potentially opening close to 2 million with digital included. Add in the Nintendo holiday boost and the potential is there for a huge week.

Just Cause 4 start is worse than I thought.

As for Persona Q2, 45k of unsold copies is a big number for 80k opening.

So, uh, anyone have an idea what's going on over at Amazon Japan? Tons of digital versions of Switch games are rising through the charts, despite seemingly not being discounted. Smash effect, or something else?

Some kind of special offer going on, not sure which one. I'll post it if I find it.

Edit: easier to find. Basically, buy two eligible games, get a discount. There's several "tiers" based on the price of of the game. For example, Let's Go and Super Mario Party: 9999 Yen (instead of 5 863 x2. 5 863 is already with a discount, so that's double discount I guess)
