Also of note, even if you completely remove Switch lite from existance, OG Switch 2019 is confortably ahead of OG Switch 2018.

Ring Fit stock situation is terrible...

It is frustrating Nintendo is only able to produce 25.000 - 30.000 weekly units, they have had time to react since late October when it was evident it was going to be big in Japan. They didn't seem to have that many problems producing balance boards. They should send European or American Ring Fit Adventures copies to Japan since in those regions is not having stock issues and demand is lower lol

Legit, that's actually a nice boost for Xbox One. What even caused that?

Also, really impressed at how steady (and rising) Switch sales have been. Absolutely insane. And we're not even done with the holidays yet.

Nintendo's market share fell from 96% last week to only 94% this week. Doomed.

The OG Switch alone is up YoY.

That's insanity lol.

It's not that they can only produce that many units, their statement last week made it rather obvious they're stockpiling for the end of the month (my guess is Christmas week and New Year).

Opening weeks for the most recent Vanillaware releases:

Muramasa Rebirth (2013) - 45k (Vita)
Dragon's Crown (2013) - 175k (PS3+Vita)
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (2016) - 95k (PS4+PS3+Vita)
Gotta respect them for doing something like 13 Sentinels when everyone was expecting/hoping for Murasama or Dragon Crown follow-ups.
Or at least games in that style.

Great week for Pokémon. I did not expect it to sell 275k units this week. It's already at 2 million units physical after 3 weeks (two weeks of legs added 48.3% to FW sales).

Gundam sold 109.820 units sold across PS4 and NSW, and has a platform split of 59/41. The game's opening is only 7.5% lower than Super Robot Taisen T, which doesn't look too bad, but sales are significantly lower than the first week sales of Genesis across PS4 and PSV in November 2016 (down 31.1% from 159.281 units).

13 Sentinels had a mediocre opening, as expected, at only 34.608 units sold. This is a very sad sight, compared to the opening week of Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir (81.786 units across PS4, PSV, and PS3). It's even lower than Muramasa Rebirth (39.248 units on PSV), which had great legs, which extended sales to 84k. I doubt 13 Sentinels will have big legs. So this is not great news for Vanillaware.

Ring Fit Adventure's sales are a shame. Nintendo is prioritising other games, which are more season-bound, so that makes sense. It would have cool to have a surprise 500k+ or even 1M+ seller this year tho.

In general, Switch evergreens are doing great, and so are Switch hardware sales. The Switch had a hardware market share of 94.4% this week...

Btw, what did cause both Xbox One models to rise in sales so much this week? Some special promotion?

I'm actually surprised at Pokemon. And its not even gonna have a Smash this year so this could get even better from here on out.

Since 13 Sentinels sales will collapse next week Gundam will be the only PS4 game in top 10 and that will be in general how holidays will go.

Curious if the MSRP for the regular edition of those games was also almost 9,000 yen.

Not hard to find.

01./00. [PSV] Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir <ACT> (Atlus) {2016.01.14} (¥7.980) - 43.394 / NEW <74,37%>
02./00. [PS4] Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir <ACT> (Atlus) {2016.01.14} (¥7.980) - 42.263 / NEW <69,56%>
10./00. [PS3] Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir <ACT> (Atlus) {2016.01.14} (¥7.980) - 9.771 / NEW <64,52%>

02./00. [PS3] Dragon's Crown <ACT> (Atlus) {2013.07.25} (¥8.190) - 104.359 / NEW <94,73%>
03./00. [PSV] Dragon's Crown <ACT> (Atlus) {2013.07.25} (¥8.190) - 71.083 / NEW <83,38%>
11./00. [PS4] Dragon's Crown Pro # <ACT> (Atlus) {2018.02.08} (¥7.980) - 11.691 / NEW

05./00. [PSV] Muramasa: The Demon Blade <RPG> (Marvelous AQL) {2013.03.28} (¥4.980) - 45.660 / NEW

Not a big difference and that's not the game main problem, skipping handhelds and/or the game gameplay loop not looking appealing for a wide audience are.

Ironically, the game scale (13 sentinels) is really massive, it's 50 hours of pure dialogues and actions.

Hopefully 13 Sentinels does better overseas. If Vanillaware needs cash there always a certain hybrid console they could port their back catalog to with relative ease and it's audience loves buying JP games, particularly in the west.

Yeah Congrats Chris1964 for 10 years of really establishing the Japanese video game sales discussion. I know it existed before you, but you really did create what we have today. Thanks to all the other users who helped keep this place improving too!
