Is it really necessary to make remaster and collections of all sequels that are in other systems?

Bravely Default sold very well on a large console base relatively recently. I don't think a collection for Switch is necessary. That is, if it exists well, but it is not an irreparable loss if it does not exist.

Same creative team at Sega and Valkyria was billed as sort of a spiritual successor to ST early on.

I just decided to include all the RPGs from both series regardless of subgenre. The only other ARPGs up there are STVE0 and VRev though.

Is it the same creative team? I thought Sonic Team was making this game for some reason.

yes, they're better preserved by being on systems that will have compatibility on future devices

It became irrelevant in Japan the moment that Switch was officially released.
For PS4 sales: 2017 > 2016 > 2018 >>> 2015 > 2019 > 2014. Was the Switch officially released in 2019? Or 2014?

Anyway the comment you quoted was asking for the reason behind the PS4's big bump this week. Which is Cyber Monday.

It might help to set the stage for the sequel and energize the fanbase. Also, it might attract a new audience too.

I'm just saying; When the PS4 was officially released in Japan, people there have hardly paid any attention to it until Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was officially released, & that was 19 months after it's launch. They were still buying PS3's & it's versions of games over PS4's & it's versions of games until then.

It's been almost 6 years since then, & it took them that long just to reach 8 & a half million LTD. When the Switch had officially released in March of 2017, it only took them almost 3 years to reach over 10 & a half million LTD. I've looked at the sales in which Chris1964 had posted over the years.

Japan basically loves portable gaming more so than home gaming consoles.

I think it's because that there have no big releases for the console that interests them.

Saving battery life, and a thinner/more portable design being possible. I don't really care about the cooling, but it's one of the ways to obtain those improved properties, which are in my view valuable when designing a fully portable machine.
More portable has never mattered to the majority of handheld consumers. There's a reason why larger size screen models of 3DS sold so well. There's been plenty of company research that most handheld buyers use the console at home and I'd assume also on commutes. Noones walking around with a handheld in their pocket so a small size models have never been the popular sku.

None of that has anything to do with you saying that the Switch's release made the PS4 irrelevant.

Dunno, I'm pretty confident that the only reason why FFXV is not yet at 10M worldwide is because they didn't release FF 1-14 beforehand. They shot themselves in the foot.

But yet you omitted my other reply to you about it. It basically ties in along with my last sentence in my first reply to you together.

People were basically started paying more attention to Switch more so than the PS4 because it factors as a hybrid model; Both a home gaming console & on the go. They just love it more.

Add in 3rd party support along with Nintendo's 1st/2nd party titles...& they basically have a lot to look forward to.

It could be cross-gen like XV1 was. Then again by the time it's happening Switch 2 may be on the horizon as well and more capable of a port.

Third party games will take some time to go next generation only.

By that time, Switch 2 will be talked about. and even then, Switch 1 would still be supported.

All of these.

Every current gen game (at least multiplatform) could realistically be ported to Switch from a technical viewpoint. I'm not so sure that it'll be the case for the inevitable cross generation games, where the base ps4 and xbox1 will be in the situation that the Switch is in now. And I'm not only talking about AAA games.
I hope that by that time, Nintendo will offer a hardware upgrade (be it a Switch pro or whatever) and go toward an incremental model rather than a generation based model.

3rd party publishers will have no choice but to port their games to Switch. PS5 & the Xbox Series X aren't going to be getting 3rd party games that are exclusive to those new platforms for a couple of years.

By the time that 2022 rolls around & by the time that PS5 & Xbox Series X starts getting games that aren't cross-gen, there will be a Switch successor that'll possibly be much easier for 3rd party publishers to port PS5/Xbox Series X versions of games onto.

Bravely Default doesn't need a remaster on Switch, especially since it already sold well on a popular system, but I think it's something both fans and SE would be interested in. Fans would like the game with upgraded visuals on more current and forward-compatible hardware. SE would like... well, money.

Overcooked Pack could do ok physically in Japan actually.

I hope RingFit will be back to having more consistent, large shipments now. The game deserves its success.

How do you guys think they're going to handle the ringfit accessory for sequels, are they going to have different versions with and without the ring?

IMO they should handle it like a GaaS game and not do a sequel anytime soon, just DLCs and expansions. The nature of the game makes expanding the content extremely important to get people interested in a fitness regimen. As a consumer looking for a workout I'd be a lot more confident buying something that guarantees me an increasing number of months of workouts than something that only gives you a set number.

DLC for the game would make a lot people more comfortable to buy into it rather than a sequel.

27./00. [PS4] Yo-kai Watch 4++ (Level 5) {2019.12.05} - 2,940 / NEW
Look at that! I was starting to doubt if the PS4 version was actually released.

I've never known DLC to make anyone more comfortable. I see a lot of apathy and I see a lot of impatiences... but not a lot of comfort. The game currently has no eshop presence, so a GaaS model doesn't seem likely. I'm expecting something closer to what we saw with WiiFit. Although, without knowing what Nintendo plans to follow up with, if anything at this point, its silly to argue about.

Bravely Default doesn't need a remaster on Switch, especially since it already sold well on a popular system, but I think it's something both fans and SE would be interested in. Fans would like the game with upgraded visuals on more current and forward-compatible hardware. SE would like... well, money.
Asano Team doesn't really do ports/remasters (the mobile/PC/PSP ports of FFIII or FFIV were all handled by other divisions), but they didn't need to since BC was in play DS to 3DS and since they weren't ever really making a "sequel" between gens. A Bravely Collection or individual BD/BS remasters on Switch makes some sense in a way say 4HOL 3DS wouldn't have but if Asano doesn't want to bother then they could hand it over another producer like those past ports. The games upscale amazingly well to HD as is so not that much work would be needed probably, really just higher quality versions of the artwork for the backgrounds (which I'd assume they have archived?) and maybe better audio mastering.

Wonder if this will be running on UE4 like Octopath, or did ClaytechWorks adopt Silicon Studios tools

By the way, the Switch just crossed 10m units of software sold in Japan this fiscal year. So in less than 9 months, despite the vouchers effect.

For Ring Fit we have enough data to know its strongest markets.

Asia > Europe > America.

America looks to be weak and not all European countries are equally strong. Shipments for this year will give a good idea of where lifetime sales could end but right now 2m is the high estimate for 2019.

Go to a Walmart in a mid to small city in the US and one will see plenty of copies on the shelves.
