That's a nice hold for MHW, good hardware sales as well.

Switch raking in another 50k - baseline without any major releases or shortages going forward?

Dunno but I don't know why people expect huge sw boosts for consoles during the launch of big games (especially on consoles that don't have that great weekly sales outside of these game launches). People are obviously buying the console to play that one game. Not to mention PS4 is still rather expensive item to buy compared to for example past handhelds. Software boost comes in long term when these same customers start to buy other games after playing enough of MH.

There is a chance that DBZXenoverse2 on
Switch will end up with higher sales than DBFighterZ on PS4.

MHW sales now even with FF13 1st week sales on PS3.

Increased PS4 sales had limited affect on other games.

PS4 and MH:W both did great

Given silpheed's reports, I was expecting higher Switch hardware sales, but it seems his own champion of store doesn't completely represent the national situation. There is more stock, but still not enough to bring sales at an even higher level.

Still...I just look at Switch's software sales in sheer amazement. They're incredible, and some games just can't stop selling. It's been years since the last time I saw so many games constantly selling every week, even if not huge amounts, on a single system.

PS4 sales are really impressive. Great word of mouth must've gotten through to bystanders and should be a great indicative of long legs for World.
It'll be interesting to see how it'll compare with Splatoon 2 for the coming months.

Kirby will join the evergreen crew soon enough. He'll be a top 20 mainstay for the rest of the year, I'm guessing.

Another average week for Switch hardware, Switch software sales continue to be limited by the amount of hardware sold. Still the situation is looking good from a software perspective as it appears majority of stock issues with Switch titles have been sorted out. Still it seems that Nintendo isn't prioritizing Japan for Switch shipments at this time and is maintaining the prior allocations for the supply. They have a goal of selling 2.84M until the end of the quarter. If Japan continues to get 25% of this quarters shipment that means that they want to sell 710K, of which they've already sold 322K leaving approximately 388K for the next 8 weeks which is basically around 48K p/w. This would leave the Switch around 530K behind 3DS when compared to the same time-frame in 2012. The major thing that could change things is larger supply for the remaining 8 weeks and especially during the Kirby launch and following week.

Fighterz is still competing with Monster Hunter despite them holding off the game for an extra week. Not to mention Switch HW and SW is still strong. It's a rather unfortunate time to release it, but hopefully it has legs, and perhaps a Switch port could push the numbers up later in the year.

Guys please slow down with the Nintendo Doomed strawman, it destroys any kind of conversation.

Switch is doing fine, just the notion that it could do so much better with better stock right now isn't quite accurate (at least it doesn't appear to be). I think the Switch just need a small shot in the arm, M+R is nice but something like Kirby or Labo will be welcome.

Is this the first PS4 game that has actually moved consoles? It's crazy. Sony's own output moves consoles everywhere, but Japan. It takes a Capcom game to move the PS4.

Much better week for MHW than I expected. And for PS4 sales. I think it may take a few months for the Switch to overtake the PS4 YTD in Japan. Maybe April?

Oh I'm being sarcastic, Nintendo isn't anywhere near doom. We can all agree that in terms of hardware PS4 had an excellent week and Switch had an excellent week for Software.

It doesn't appear so based on what exactly? There is still a stock problem, right? So how can you say sales wouldn't be better if there was ample stock? Just a gut feeling? Or something based on fact?

Yeah, back to Nintendo doomed. :)
Seriously, baseline of around 50k without new bigger release is good in any case.
I'm sure the Switch is still heavily supply constrained and 50k per week is already really good... but not that good when your main competitor which install base is already better than yours does 100k for two weeks consecutively. The real question is what is PS4's baseline now. If it's for the months to come at 50k as well like the Switch, things are not that great for Nintendo's console. That's impossible to say now of course but the unexpected effect of MHW in Japan is something that may definitely shake things up.

Anything is possible of course, but I doubt PS4's new baseline will be close to 50k.

Erm...i dont think you need to worry about the Switch in Japan.
Switch is still selling on more or less zero 3rdParty support while the PS4 just got the biggest game of its generation...things will be different in the 2nd half of the year.

I don't know but if MHW starts to sell steadily like the MHP games did on PSP it could help the PS4 sales a lot and for a long time. I don't think we can totally dismiss this scenario any more, can we?

Sad to see all the focus on Nintendo Switch doom when there is so much to celebrate, both for PS4 and Switch. Congratulations again to Capcom.

Still insane to see 12 Switch games in top 20 and not only the common evergreen games are legging... ARMS, Xenoverse 2, Xenoblade 2, Pokkén, a last gen Monster Hunter. Simply astonishing, and this without big hardware sales either.

We can't dismiss anything, but there are a lot of differences between PSP and PS4 Monster Hunter.
