Maybe with quality. Vita got a lot of releases.
Only because it was easy to port from PS4 or PS3. It had very little original content which makes it very forgettable for me. Not to mention with all those releases Vita got, most of them sold terribly.

More does not always equal better.

3rd party support was light years ahead of Vita only because 3ds actually got exclusives. Thats the major major selling point.

Yeah, Yoshi ain't gonna happen. I assume Kirby Star Allies will release in either March or April. Yoshi doesn't have an official title. I'm expecting a late summer release for that one.

As for third parties on Switch, I'll just sit back and watch the strange comments from devs flow through.

I noticed something in dengeki:
"6.12 million for 50 titles"
https://www.resetera.com/posts/2369875/
http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/651/1651656/

But here, i've 45 games, not 50:
https://www.resetera.com/posts/2370453/

Did i forget 5 games? Weird, I'll check that.

Edit: shit :(

I find it very interesting that when we are discussing about PS4 vs PS3, despite the first one being ahead by 200k+ units you say ''it's doing the same as PS3'', but when you talk about 3DS vs SW, despite SW being behind you say ''it's selling close''.

Switch is supply constrained and has been supply constrained for months. Not really a comparable situation. It would have sold much better (on par with 3DS) without supply issue. PS4 has never been supply constrained unless maybe a week or two. Double standard because they are two completely different situations.

so almost 200k unaccounted for?

Pray for Seiken. (though bomberman and dragon quests are probably eating the most)

I wonder if there will be a Christmas miracle this year?

Will Psycho Mantis write a positive post about Nintendo, and will Nintendojitsu write a positive post about Sony (without sarcasm or snark)?

Yeah, not gonna happen.

but will arms cross 200k tho?

Splatoon 2 will be in the top 5 forever. XD

1.5 Million aint nothing to fuck with.

If only America could catch up.

it's likely at 1m in the US.

Blown away that DB Xenoverse 2 Switch is now at 80k in Dengeki. Since it did over 8.4k this week, could it do 10k next week and pass 90k?!

Switch would have been waaaaaaaaay ahead of 3DS if the supply was there. The sustained demand for so long is unprecedented. If they had infinite supply I can't see it having sold less than 6 million this year.

1-2 Switch just missed the top 20 chart. It definitely hit 300k this week either way.

This may have a lot to do with the PSVita having a successful console counterpart, and being able to scale down current gen console games a lot easier than the 3DS. While it was easy to work with for what it was, the 3DS was weaker and its architecture was very different from the other consoles. I believe even devs from Nintendo commented on how difficult it was to port things between the 3DS and the Wii U The Switch's creation is due to Nintendo acknowledging those type of issues.

Good point. While the 3DS had awesome support compared to the Wii U, it paled to how much the DS had.

That was just the Wii with Xenoblade Chronicles port to the New 3DS. The team was struggling to get it to run on the original 3DS. Regardless, the 3DS should have had received much better third party support. I mean it still could have ran PS2esque level of games.

Sounds like the switch is set for a big week. I'm hoping for 400K+, going to be an incredible week for HW and SW.

So technically Japan will have Mario Rabbids in January,Bayonetta 2 in Feb,DQB in March, sounds like a good new year line up to maintain the console momentum.I thought the first three months are gonna be rough for them but right now I think I worry too much about that

If we're talking about Japan I'm not too concerned. Nintendo still haven't been able to reach demand so I think they don't really need much to keep the momentum going. Plus as you say they do have some software for Q1.

I am curious what SW Nintendo has lined up for next year. If the rumours of them hoping to ship 25+ million are true they must have some big SW lined up for next year.

[3DS] Medabots Classics: 20th Anniversary Edition <RPG> (Imagineer) (¥12.000) - 50%
[3DS] Medabots Classics: Metabee Ver. / Rokusho Ver. <RPG> (Imagineer) (¥4.800) - 50%

Very good. Numbers are low but am surprised Medarot is above everything else.

Wonder if it can do round 20k units.

Top 50

3DS - 20
NSW - 14
PS4 - 14
PSV - 2

To be honest, it's really amazing to see how many Switch games are in the Top 50---amazing for a new hardware and for the kind of support it received. On any other platforms, games like FIFA and XenoVerse 2 would have disappeared a few weeks after launch.

PS Vita SW has really tanked hard this year right. Must be a momentous decline from last year? Only two titles on top 50 sounds awful.

First Day Sell-through {2017.12.21}

[3DS] Medabots Classics: 20th Anniversary Edition <RPG> (Imagineer) (¥12.000) - 50%
[3DS] Medabots Classics: Metabee Ver. / Rokusho Ver. <RPG> (Imagineer) (¥4.800) - 50%

[PS4] Okami HD # <ADV> (Capcom) (¥2.990) - 50%

[PS4] The Idolm@ster: Stella Stage # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) (¥8.200) - 50%

[PS4] [PSV] [NSW] Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) - 60% (units sold PS4 >> PSV > NSW; PSV and NSW sales are so close to each other that NSW might oversell PSV at the end of the week)

[PS4] A-Train Exp. <SLG> (Artdink) (¥7.800) - 40%

Low sales for all the releases
Ouch, even the frontloaded games have only 50%...
Quite impressive for the Switch version of Atelier to perform on par with the Vita tbh. Of course the Vita version is inferior technically, but Firis still had very decent Vita sales. The Nintendo audience hasn't had a new Atelier game in a while (DS games; last game in the series was a very late Rorona port for 3DS), so the big question is whether these Switch buyers are Nintendo fans that want to try the series (first time or again), or Vita owners that are shifting toward the next portable gaming device.

It will take time for Switch to get respectable sales on some franchises. Atelier is one of them. Of course, the fact that the game itself is not appealing (not selling particularly well on PS4 either) doesn't help, but if sales are not too low, KT should keep supporting Switch with Gust games. After all, what is their alternative now that PSV is really dead?
