Yea it's definitely kinda sucks that they are phasing out PS4. Yet they have one of the biggest franchises right now in Japan (Demon Slayer) and it seems like an exclusive for PS4.
This game was definitely greenlit before Demon Slayer blew up to be phenomenon lol. Otherwise I would think the game would be on PS4/Switch. Could see Aniplex scrambling to get the game on more platforms otherwise I don't see it reaching its full potential.
There's also the fact that it has to be a good game. I'm kinda iffy on CyberConnect, but they are also a better option than the mediocre anime games Namco puts out.

I would think Demon Slayer is doable on Switch seeing as Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 - Road to Boruto is on Switch and was a PS4/XBO game by CC2.
Only a matter if Aniplex is up for it bar any paid exclusivity. I mean they're publishing that Fate cooking game on Switch no? So they're able and willing to do work on Switch, so it's possible.

Given CC2's comments on .Hack from a while back the Demon Slayer game is probably exclusive because of their relationship with Sony.

Yeah I saw that. They seem to basically play it as; launch it exclusively because loyalty, and then be open to a port later if the publisher is still willing.
It's odd that BN and possibly Aniplex don't just put their foot down and demand a day 1 (or reasonable) release on Switch. But I do like delayed Switch ports if only because it allows the devs to work from completed code, likely making the process far easier, likely allowing for a more polished port. In theory anyway, but I recall devs saying as such before in the past.
It's funny that the exclusivity is more likely due to the third party dev and not the publisher under the same conglomerate.
Aniplex is the publisher, but it's not like it's their IP. Same with Fate, which is why we see games on non-Sony platforms.
Doubt it, not really their call and I'd guess CC2 probably gets more leeway with Bamco than Aniplex. CC2's own selfpublished stuff is multi anyway, the .hack comments seemed more to do with that IP specifically.
I'm sad we won't see Next Mario Kart until Switch 2 but I keep getting impressed by this enhanced port.

Honestly it really depends on Shueisha and Aniplex I guess. I feel they may have done it before the series blew up.
If anything i think it'll be more like a Breath of the Wild scenario with the game coming at launch on Switch 2 and Switch at the same time.

We did get the Inklings, Link and Isabelle in MK8 after all. They could double down on this.... or not.

Imo, it sounds like a mistake to me. Maybe add more non-Mario characters, but the "Mario Kart" branding is just too strong to just change it to "Smash Kart" or "Nintendo Kart".

CC2's comments were specifically about .hack because that's their baby and naturally they want it to sell as much as possible so they can make more. I doubt they care that much when it's an IP they didn't create.

Until Aniplex or CC2 spills the beans there is no way to know what happened first. Whether CC2 approached Aniplex with the idea or if Aniplex put out an APB looking for someone to make them a game.
CC2 is happy making Xbox and PC versions. But no international announcement and the promo video being region locked makes me think it's Aniplex being extra controlling with their new cash cow.

So PS5 still hasn't increased shipments just yet. Everything else there looks very impressive even if switch was slightly less than hoped.
