What the hell? Big increase. Nintendo continues to smash sales. It's a 25% increase. Have we had this % before?

Is there any explanation as to why DQB2 sold better on PS4 out of the gate but the Switch one had better legs?

Dengeki Switch hardware numbers:
Week 50 309885
Week 51 311402
Week 52 199609
Week 1 247914 (!)

Could it be the result of the two weeks is those two numbers added but the split is wrong? Maybe Japan cares about the Three Kings' Day?

That's not that crazy. Wk52's 199k would be a bigger yoy increase than Wk 1's 247k would be. (44% to 32%) And that Wk 52 is in line with Famitsu's numbers.

Are the week 1 numbers going to be posted in this thread once they drop or will someone create a new one?

WA, australia
That week one jump is so much higher than expected

I don't have time to find dengeki from last year so I'll just use mc for comparison:

NSW week 1 2018: 146.006
NSW week 1 2019: 247.914

More than 100k higher.. second highest yoy gain for switch in a single week????

Those Dengeki numbers...wow. Didn't expect that much for week 1.

And Switch's software is pulling insane numbers. Smash becoming the best selling game of 2018 in under a month, SMP is doing insanely well, MK8DX at 2m, Mario Odyssey at 1.9m, etc. The system already has six 1m sellers and three 2m sellers in under two years. 2019 will be an even better year in terms of software for it with AC and Gen 8 especially, as well as more substantial third party titles (YW4, IE, DQXIS, etc.)

Japan
And yet Japan-centric games keep being announced without Switch versions. Or "a Switch version if enough people beg for it".

The Japanese console gaming industry isn't being murdered by mobile. It's a suicide.

Probably. UE4 needed to be updated for DQXI on switch so they're probably better suited to handling it, but they'll take awhile. Hopefully not postponed till next gen, tho
I don't really believe that to be honest. it might have really just been a limited resources issue. remember that Octopath Traveler was one of the first UE4 games announced for the switch

Is this info correct? So Switch had a 10% bigger percentage increase in sales last year?

From the quoted numbers, Switch's week 52 in 2018 was larger than 2018's week 1. So the 2019 Week 1 is 25% increase of an already much bigger number than Week 1 2018, so comparatively it's roughly a 79% increase over 2017's Week 52. 248/138

I don't think anyone would turn those numbers down.
