What? We just have user here even posting Nintendo JP official tweet about the game beings delayed to this year lol.
Have you seen the two in the same room together? I don't think so!!!

A remake of a 30+ year old classic worked on by MAGES almost certainly did not become a brand new series made by Koei-Tecmo.
Sure.... When you say like that it might sound silly... pshhh.

But what's with Nintendo and all these detective games? They've got 4 announced.

Maybe..... BOND is the remains of Detective Pikachu 2.

Marth While the preorder ranking is still empty, Comgnet finally updated the weekly rankings (back when the website returned visible they still had last week's numbers). Time for your thing.

Good to see Nintendo/Switch doing great numbers in China
this, alongside the good performance Sony has been pushing for for awhile, should lead a growth for the industry in the next years (I suppose)

There is still plenty to grow for both companies, especially with China's large population. China is dominated by PC and mobile right now.

Japan+China sales estimates alone is already ~22M. Pretty significant Asia sales, and that's without counting the other Asian territories.

It's difficult to say that precisely I think, since we don't know where the brunt of the grey market Switches in China come from. Could be a good share of them come from Japan, for example. Still, it's a big userbase in East Asia for sure.

I'd say Hong Kong, Taiwan or Korea are the big sources for the grey market consoles judging from proximity and availability.

Graphs highlighting the evolution of the power struggle between Nintendo and PlayStation in Japan since 2006 (annual physical software sales tracked by Media Create; covers around 95%-99% of the market).

What to expect for 2020:
- annual software sales on Nintendo platforms > annual software sales on PlayStation platforms (more than 3:1).
- annual first-party sales on Nintendo platforms > annual third-party software sales on PlayStation platforms (around 3:1).
- annual third-party sales on Nintendo platforms > annual third-party software sales on PlayStation platforms.

Annual physical software sales by console manufacturer (only the ones that matter)

For COMG:

Taiko was / is out of stock
Momotaro is out of stock
Ring Fit (as always) is out of stock.
Pokemon Shield (without Expansion Pass) is 12% off.

Comg is in line too with soft drops this week. So far its stores follow the trend of holidays.

Don't worry about COMG too much, it's so obvious there isn't stock for certain games and at absolute worse a 60% drop for everything but 50% sounds about right

GEO is still in holiday mood, eventually they must move on and start giving sales information again.

Famitsu should post CY report soon.

Am I reading this wrong or is Japan just getting less and less interested in gaming as a whole?

it's probably that games have gotten more expensive as dev costs climbed, leading to fewer games being released. also there's still mobile, whether a dedicated video game forum likes it or not. so gaming hasn't gone down, just moved elsewhere

Wouldn't you see a similar trend pretty much everywhere though, or did PS4 overperform enough software wise to compensate from the drops from 360->XBO, PSP->Vita, DS->3DS and Wii->Wii U?

I'd also add that digital sales have grown their relevance especially between 2019 and 2020, even if Japan is still behind other markets on this front.

- Nintendo Co Ltd has shipped 1 million Switch consoles in China since it launched the device in the world's largest video games market at the end of 2019, its Chinese partner Tencent Holdings Ltd said on Monday.

So in 2020 the Switch sold in China almost the same amount of legal consoles projected to be sold in 2024 ? Did it over perform?

It can't be more obvious that it's a typo, it goes from 2018 and 2019 to 2024.

I wonder how part 2 will do, it's a guaranteed decline I just hope it doesn't have to large a drop off.
