Since we're listing Bayonetta's eShop rankings now:

Netherlands: Bayonetta is at #2. Bayonetta 2 is not in the ranking.
United States: Bayonetta is at #6. Bayonetta 2 is at #5.

And I also have a Japanese and an Australian account, but those are already listed by Grads.

The difference between the US and Japan/Aus/NL is pretty interesting. Bayonetta 1 is charting much higher than Bayonetta 2 in those countries.

Here in Italy Bayonetta is #1 and Bayonetta 2 is #15 on the eShop. I's say price difference is the main reason.

Chris1964 you said that you and retailers are expecting AOT2 to bomb. A ~50k debut for the Switch version is doable, given it is steadily increasing on Comgnet. Would it really be terrible ?
Musou crossover sequels tend to do considerably worse than its predecessor:

-33% or even -50% FW compared to the first game shouldn't be shocking. Considering the PS4's install base of Musou fans compared to the NSW, I personally expect ~50k max for PS4, ~20k max for PSV, and ~20k max for NSW. I don't think it'll all add up to 90k tho. Most likely somewhere in the 70ks max.

Its obviously still really early and with the usual disclaimers applying...based on comgnet and amazon that ratio would surprise me.

AOT2 Switch will be close to PS4, maybe even on top, but since sales overall will be low it won't make a big difference.

Yeah. While Comgnet still has the Switch version as the only one charting so far (what the), the recent days on Amazon.co.jp has showed a decently consistent trend of the PS4 and Switch SKU of the game being not too far between each other: there have been times where the Switch SKU was ahead, others where the PS4 one is. Also, similarly often, the Vita SKU tends to be a bit behind compared to the former two. This wasn't the case up to a few weeks ago, when the PS4 SKU was the clear leader with the Switch and Vita SKU battling between each other. We'll have to wait and see how much this holds up as the release date approaches, though.

If bad word of mouth spreads out quickly Dynasty Warriors 9 is in serious trouble to have a LTD around 200k.

Media Create has also first week sell-through at 70%, it had very small rise after 60% of first day.
RIP.
The franchise seriously needs a break. Spinoffs will probably still work (at various degrees) at least I guess.
Someone should have told KT not to pursue open world.
I still don't understand how they got to that conclusion instead of reworking other parts of the formula that created fatigue in the first place.
Instead they went for something against the design of the game, and with an engine struggling to work like this...

It doesn't surprise me that bayonetta 1 is better ranked than bayonetta 2, i know i did it on Wii U, knowing that the 2 games were great, i bought the 1 first then after bought the second, i feel a lot of those buyers are first timer on the serie

Take someone who wants to buy both Bayo1&2. Its options are :

- Climax Edition. 2 physical copies. Completely sold out.
- Bayo 2 physical + Bayo 1 digital : ~8.5-9k Y
- Bayo 1&2 digital : 6.5-7k Y

You understand why the digital version of Bayo is tracking ahead on Amazon. It is necessary for everyone now that wants to play the 2 games.

Hm, maybe I should give the Switch version more credit yeah. Chris says it will likely be closer to the PS4 version too. My biggest point was the combined FW number of 80k max tho.

The next game will likely suffer a bit like AC syndicate. I'm interested in the long term effect. Is this reboot bad? Is it fixable? Will new musou games adopt this format or will they return to the original style?

They're reaching a point with their mainline releases where a reboot probably wouldn't negatively affect their sales. Clearly, this open world bullshit wasn't the answer to their declining sales.

Sinobi didn't bother to analyze next week's releases, it will be another slow week.

PUGB XB1 S 1TB bundle, Metal Gear Survive, Girls und Panzer are the important.

From the two Labo SKUs Variety Pack is more popular.

After the disasterous results of DW9, do you think Omega Force will double down on this open world path for things like DW9XL and SW5, or will they move back to the closed strategic arenas of the previous games which their new engine to could probably handle okay? Do you think they'll attempt a Switch DW9 Special downport (like they did DW6/7 on PS2/PSP) or is that a lost cause after how it's done?

Depending on what path OF takes, I feel like there might be a good opportunity for Capcom to come back with a more traditional PS4/Switch Basara 5.

Pretty much expected. The variety pack gets more attention in the marketing of the Labo.

The biggest issue is that the game sucks. They will (or at least should) take the opportunity to evolve the game and formula to suit being open world.

That said they can just chop the open world into arenas for newer iterations. The game is a mega bomb but nothing is dire yet.

Considering the XBO version runs at 720p/~20fps and looks like crap there's no chance they could do a Switch version.

OF/KT's insistence on shoehorning open-world into their games is kinda baffling. They could have had a nice thing with Toukiden 2 by building upon Toukiden: Kiwami but not only did they mess that up, they also got their lunch eaten by MHW. Laughable.

They think open world is the ticket to sales. They forget it has to actually be good.

It seems that DW9 problem is that they've added an open-world for the sake of it. The gameplay doesn't revolve around the open-world---it's the old gameplay with more running and larger areas. It doesn't make much sense. They haven't fixed the gameplay itself, rather they have worsened it because the open-world structure is boring when it's not exploited with variety.

DW9 on Switch in its current form makes little sense. It's a critical, financial and technical failure. Even if they managed to get around the technical difficulties, I don't see what they can salvage from it. Maybe it would be wisest to make Samurai Warriors 5 and attempt another Toukiden-like game.

DW9 is a critical and likely financial bomb/underperformance.
Don't see a Switch port being likely due to how poorly the game runs and how poorly the game was received overall. Unless a DW9 Complete Edition comes out in a few years fixing everything, there's no reason to port it.

Probably just best to move on from 9

Word of mouth for Seiken Densetsu 2 appears to be very bad, the game will show zero legs after first week.

There isn't info for Virtual On but again there aren't many who bought it.

Seiken Densetsu 2 Was such a weird release. Feels like they got a mobile game and they thought could release it on console to make more money before bringing it to mobile.
It looks a lot like Seiken Densetsu 1's mobile release so it makes sense.

$40 seems pretty ridiculous

DW9 is a critical and likely financial bomb/underperformance.
Don't see a Switch port being likely due to how poorly the game runs and how poorly the game was received overall. Unless a DW9 Complete Edition comes out in a few years fixing everything, there's no reason to port it.

Probably just best to move on from 9

This has probably been discussed to death here but the larger implication here is that their original games (Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and spin-offs) are declining while they have their occasional spin-off becomes a huge hit and then peters off in its sequels. The problem is that they're running out of options for (successful) spin-offs and are highly dependent on other companies' licenses. It's a terrible and unsustainable business model.

How long are people expecting PS4 to be in the 40k-70k range?

Looking in from the outside, it looks like PS4 now has a wide ranging library that justifies a purchase, even for casual gamers. A bit like the PS2 back in the day. Monster Hunter World was just the final big push to open people's eyes.

Titles like Soul Calibur 6, Ace Combat 7, No No Kuni 2. They may not do big numbers individually (I've no idea), but they should be solid titles that appeal to different demographics, and keep PS4 sales ticking along.

MHW is whats driving the PS4 sales for now.

Well it'll be interesting to see how they handle it. Hopefully they manage something

Honestly Omega Force would benefit far more from porting Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends: Complete Edition, Samurai Warriors 4-II, and if they can Warriors All-Stars to Switch instead of Dynasty Warriors 9, as I'd think it'd be far easier and cheaper, especially the first two as those have PS3 versions.

Considering the sales of the game they did port the benefit is absolutely negligible. Especially Warriors All-Stars which was an ever bigger bomb than DW9.

I watched some all stars footage and it's really weird. They created furries as the binding agent in the cross over.
But, yeah, ports of older games likely won't result in much

Given how nothing is selling well outside of MHW despite decent HW sales and every other title has either flopped or stayed flat at best, I expect absolutely nothing. This isn't anything like the PS2 in Japan. That console had popular titles reaching into different demographics in JP.

To maintain 40k the PS4 would need games like the one's you mentioned every week to maintain its momentum, that's not going to happen. The PS4s baseline without new 100k+ software is roughly 20k. MHW was huge for PS4, but its not going to double its baseline.

The only benefit would be that it's most likely easier and cheaper to port those games over DW9 while selling the same amount of table scraps.

Since Monster Hunter World launch, Amazon has occasionally sell outs for some PS4 models.

Switch is out of stock there again, it was available almost the entire week.

Games running bad isn't always a indicator that this game is some huge powerhouse ya know,
It shows what KT is capable of on more powerful hardware though. I think a NSW port is possible on a technical level just as I believe it could run better on the other platforms but I wouldn't trust KT to make it possible.

Metal Gear Survive is heading for some really low numbers, Dynasty Warriors 9 will look like a huge success comparing to what is coming.

Hopefully Metal Gear survives this desaster. It`s such an famous IP and one linked to Playstation history. But at the same time it reflects Konamis fall as a successful publisher (on consoles). So i have not much hope.

It looks like a silent release. I have even forgotten it was releasing. There is not much marketing for this game and no hype.

Besides MHW for obvious reasons since it's the strongest 3rd Party IP right now on consoles, the games really sold quite bad on PS4 so far this year. FF:Dissidia, DW9, Metal Gear, Secret of Mana etc.

Yeah not a lot of stellar performers so far this year and trend doesn't look like likely to change in the near term. Other than World, of course.
