I'm still very confident that Fire Emblem was supposed to be their Golden Week title when they delayed it to the Spring.

Koizumi practically said as much. He said that they were intending on releasing in spring and then asked we wait a bit longer until summer for its release.

I do think Nintendo should keep a nearly finished game in their back pocket to drop in case their plans change.

Can't believe a Mario Party has turned into an "evergreen" title

Switch is on a different planet

19./114. [NSW] Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition (Bandai Namco Games) {2019.01.11} - 2,128 / 35,804

lol, quite the bump.

Funny how that happens when you actually have copies of a game to sell. But used copies have already started appering so I would be surprised if it had legs. Bamco totally Octopath'd this release. It won't recover. :(

As for Spike Chunsoft the only recognisable IP they have is Danganronpa and indications are that this team operates like Falcom with Sony. Unless you wanted to believe that amazon.jp "leak", things will remain the same for some time.

428 (originally a Wii game and since ported to nearly everything) seems like a no-brainer it could probably be ported by a small team in like a week. They are just choosing not to for reasons I can't begin to comprehend.

Also a Fire Pro wrestling game would probably do quite well with the multiplayer focus of switch. Also there has never been a Shiren game that didn't get a port to a Nintendo system. A quick and dirty port of the Vita version of 5 released for 4000yen would probably do very well with minimal effort.

All of these have been on Non-Sony systems, and recently too. That's what makes this so puzzling.

Curious to see how far NSMBUD will make it now that Mario Maker 2 is a known thing. I wanna say it'll cross a million before MM2 is out. but I'm just not sure.

While I would love mystery dungeon, there's not a chance one comes out before Gen 8.

Super PKMD came out in September 2015 in Japan. By the time Gen 8 launches in November 2019 (assuming that it doesn't get delayed; which is very possible considering how overstretched Game Freak have been over the last few years); that would give them 4 years of dev time at a minimum.

I can't see Gen 8 launching before the next PKMD.

I highly doubt the team has just been working on a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon sequel since the last game came out. They probably worked on another project and have either just started development or maybe haven't even started yet. That is if a new game is actually going to happen.

So either Catherine has a surge in popularity or Jump Force is heading from decline compared to Victory VS.
Maybe it's mix of the two but it's rather clear which one is more important

Yeah, looks like a big drop for Jump Force.

Finally, western release coming.

I'd like to say "I wonder what happened to that new game they mentioned a while ago", but with YW4 and IEA still not released, it's pretty easy to guess what happened.

Judging from the rating Level 5 will be self publishing so eShop release?

German ratings for both Katrielle 3DS and Deluxe display Level 5 as the publisher.
Oh interesting. In other publishing shenanigans DQ Builders 2 releases in the west on the 12th July on both PS4 and Switch. Nintendo is publishing the Switch version and Square Enix PR and the Dragon Quest twitter do not mention the Switch version at all, nor do they mention DQXIS.

Yeah, saw that yesterday. It's a bit surreal, first time I've ever seen a game published by two different publishers, and with a simultaneous release (not counting indie stuff). Guess Nintendo really wanted to handle that one.

Original 3DS release was also published by Level-5 (though I believe Nintendo did the distribution in Europe). And this is a retail release anyway, otherwise the Applicant would be IARC (as seen for SteamWorld Dig 2: http://www.classification.gov.au/Pages/View.aspx?sid=ZBoVpCIGQg3xm6GjJMl8AQ%3d%3d&ncdctx=WW8GK9jR1fpBerPPmtxdrKurEiFX0NFn3uX6aK5VEeadRf0C7oy5nZwQeAP5CzkT)

Depends on what you mean. Will it have a big presence on the booth and in in-site events ? Yes

Now will it have a big presence at the E3 Spotlight ? I don't think so. They usually don't spend a lot of time on their June game there (Mario Tennis Aces, Arms...).

Mario Maker 2 is significantly bigger yes, and that's why we'll get a lot of infos before E3 imo.
MM2 is such E3 tournament bait, its so perfect, just the month june says everything

I guess we can consider Yoshi to be Nintendo's Golden Week title at this point, maybe that franchise will be revived a bit if it is the sole new game out for a few months. Yoshi's New Island did ~260k on 3DS, maybe this one could get closer to 400k if it turns out to be a better-received game.

Yoshi's Island DS was a million seller, but it came out during one of the DS's peak years.

Not really that odd. Nintendo publish literally every single retail S-E game on their platforms and have done so since 2013.

Nintendo would be getting zero support from S-E if they didn't pay for their publishing. They've been stuck in this trap ever since they started doing it on 3DS; back when they became desperate for 3rd party software support.

Final Fantasy is published by Square.

Only exclusives and DQ are getting special treatment.

428 (originally a Wii game and since ported to nearly everything) seems like a no-brainer it could probably be ported by a small team in like a week. They are just choosing not to for reasons I can't begin to comprehend.

All of these have been on Non-Sony systems, and recently too. That's what makes this so puzzling.
Even if any these happen in the future, which isn't impossible, it's b-tier Capcom level support. Late ports from previous generations with nothing new or big at horizon can't be considered as serious investment on a system. Switch enters its third year in a few weeks and so far the support from them is almost zero.

When new Danganronpa is announced how many chances do you think there it will be on Switch too?

Nintendo picks up DQ and Asano's games, and weridly the TWEWY remake, but SE publishes their other stuff. Even on 3DS they did KH3D, Theatrhythm CC and FF Explorers and on Switch they have Lost Sphear (limited), FFX/X-2 and FFXII so far. SE Europe selfpublishes their own games too (Kingdom of Ruin, Deus Ex HR, other casual/budget stuff) but they've been absent on Switch other than their indie fund program.

I sort of agree but all the other Danganronpa games are PSP/Vita titles so even if Switch was getting them now it'd be the same level as games like 428 or Shiren 5.

Spike Chunsoft's only real "current gen" games (ie: not Vita based) are Fire Pro World and AI. Switch is getting one of those and was pretty heavily rumored to get the other, only the Danganronpa/Zanki Zero team seems to be avoiding the platform really. Not great though.

Zanki Zero is a current gen IP and apparently a title Spike Chunsoft was betting on.

Chris1964 with the info we have right now (price, release date, and some gameplay), what are your expectations for Fire Emblem and Astral Chains ?
Fire Emblem went to the high end of Nintendo pricing.

Normal Edition - ¥6.980
Limited Edition - ¥9.980

Comparing to ¥4.980 of 3DS it's a 40% rise but it shouldn't affect sales since it has a dedicated fanbase.

Astral Chains is even higher

Normal Edition - ¥7.980
Limited Edition - ¥9.980

Collaborations with third parties will be higher priced from Nintendo's own IPs which almost all will play at ¥5.980. Fire Emblem could be the only exception this year.

As for Japanese expectations, things will be slow for Astral, it will depend heavily on west, Three Houses will be one of the best selling FE, if not the best.

Dragon Quest is the title everyone waits the reveal of price and how high SE will go.

Capcom is literally 1 company.

It's like saying that global warming doesn't exist because winter in Russia is as cold as ever.

Well, obviously not every Japanese company has the resources Capcom has. I was just pointing out their healthiness despite for the most part forgoing the Japanese market. Mostly because of how the initial question was worded and to point out that a Japanese company can thrive while not on the Switch if they have the resources to make the big budget games that the western video game market feasts upon. The point remains, if you want Japanese sales, then you better be on the Switch.

Fire Emblem went to the high end of Nintendo pricing.

Normal Edition - ¥6.980
Limited Edition - ¥9.980

Comparing to ¥4.980 of 3DS it's a 40% rise but it shouldn't affect sales since it has a dedicated fanbase.

Astral Chains is even higher

Normal Edition - ¥7.980
Limited Edition - ¥9.980

Thanks Chris.

DQXIS is indeed a question mark. It could go anywhere between the PS4 price and ¥6.000.
