VC1-3 existed, they could've gotten Vita ports but didn't. VC1 did for PS4 (2016) and Switch (2018) though so it's not like Sega wasn't doing this sort of thing either. Rev was absolutely given less of a push than VC4 too, which is saying something given how budget starved the latter was.

I'm not sure Nintendo paid for Yakuza either, although they were nice enough to give it a Direct.

And Sega's Vita support basically died after 2014, that was when the draw down happened about 3 years post launch. Wii U got basically a year in comparison, which was worse for sure but both systems were easily the worst supported consoles from Sega's perspective probably since they went 3rd party. Vita got more games and Wii U got bigger games but both were pretty pathetic on the whole and Sega cut and run on both for the most part.
Why would 2-3 get ports when they already ran on Vita? 1 would probably take too much effort as the Vita likely wasn't powerful enough.

SE should put out another Final Fantasy Tactics on the Switch

The time is now.

If what Emily said comes true. Game developers waited a while to see if the Switch was going to be a success. Switch proved as a success. Now the time for the development of this season's games is about to arrive. There should be a lot of third-party announcements on the upcoming Direct and E3. Even Nintendo must have held on a little before it realized that the Switch was a success.

I doubt Sony had nothing to do with it considering Ni No Kuni 2 was announced in big fashion in LA during PSX and touted as a console exclusive.

I have always defended L5 moves, especially because of those reasons

Their mistakes were to rely too much on Yokai, considering how volatile the kid market is; to think the mobile market would have been a heaven; to think they could have managed their ww distribution and publishing on their own in a successful way without Nintendo ; to skew away from Nintendo hardware as their main focus

Yep, those were their mistakes.

those seem like excuses to me. The bottom line is they don't have any IP that sells anymore. I mean almost all of Nintendo's IP are popular with kids. They are still relevant. I don't agree with your point like at all.

They're not excuses, lol

I was simply explaining why their franchises feel off a cliff sooner or later. Level-5's mistake wasn't to exploit those franchise but to focusing too much on Yo-kai Watch; also, they made bad calls in which platform to support.

Nintendo IPs are not kid-oriented. They can be enjoyed by anyone. Kids and adults are buying Mario, Pokémon and Zelda. Also, they're not multimedia franchises that base their success on anime, manga and merchandising (which is, in Nintendo's case, a consequence of the success of their IPs, not a cause). Also, Nintendo IPs are typically not numbered so they are able to attract new gamers (especially kids) each time.

Level-5's IPs are more similars, in terms of target and lifecycle, to something like Ben 10, Skylanders, Yu-Gi-Oh and such.

the excus that Level-5 was scared the switch could fail because its half a home console is nonsense

it's not like they released many wii or wii-u titles that bombed or that they released many ps3/ps4 games that sold spectacularly

the only notable releases and successes they've had has always been on Nintendo handhelds

it was not long ago that yokai watch blew up on the 3ds yet all of a sudden they get cold feet with the switch? wat?

the switch concept was always a solid idea since its first reveal, just from the pure fact that Nintendo can finally focus on one console with all their software, at worst it would have succeeded as a handheld console if the home console side of it didnt sell

Level-5 got greedy and blindsided by the mobile dream that many others have fallen victim to, it is obvious with their lousy Nintendo and Sony support since they tried that road

How on earth did they think they would succeed in mobile without a solid backup plan with their main meal ticket being the priority is baffling, they should be much wiser than that by now with all the success they have gained partnering with Nintendo

despite all of Nintendo's failures, they have always done well with their handhelds, especially in Japan, Level-5 are complete morons to not put their all in securing their spot in this market no matter wat else is enticing them

i really don't understand what hou're saying. It's all pointless talk about how media/kids franchises should be exploited and while that may be true if you have stable IP to rely on, it won't be true for Level 5. You're not in the console business these days to create fads. Please stop with replying to me with that none sense.

Everyone working in the toy industry can confirm you that the kids market is volatile. Kids chase the next big thing and franchises are very short-lived. Even Nintendo, though still huge, had their ups and downs with kids but their franchises are so big and catering a very heterogeneous audience that are able to keep a strong presence (also, Nintendo is a bigger company and promotion/marketing effort is typically very big).

I wouldn't Nintendo's level of marketing has any affect here. Cross media marketing isn't a thing Nintendo does to any great extent. They created the Pokemon company to handle that purely because of this. Level 5 launches cross media franchise for most of it's major IP. While Nintendo has bigger reach through traditional marketing due to it's reach as a dominant platform Level 5 is hardly a slouch in this regard and it can't be blamed for their lack of success because it's the primary reason for the major success' they do have and we have seen how large they can be.

It's on the csv file on the rating board. It's not fake

There's XCOM 2 for Switch there as well.

edit: Said it in the other thread, but that'd be pretty surprising for Catherine since it's Atlus/Sega.
Not surprising for XCOM though, it fits well there.
I stand corrected. But really the Soup needs to actually link to that source if it ever wants to be considered real journalism.

Atlas has to be the most confusing "big" developer in the industry. People think Nintendo is unpredictable, Atlas is just confusing.

Lol in a way I'm kind of with you. If there was a deal with Sony or anything like that, it is what it is. If there wasn''t and Atlus missed out on a port day and date next to the Vita for no reason at all, it's a bit sad. Still glad it's coming though, but now it won't do anything in the charts.

Has ATLUS ever developed a game for both a Sony and Nintendo console before? Their latest titles are all either only on Sony platforms or only on Nintendo platforms.

If Studio Zero is behind Switch port too these are positive news for future games from Atlus on the system. If not and it's outsourced it doesn't mean much.

Persona 5 Scramble :p
Other than that, PS1 got some old ports of SMT 1 and 2, and 3DS got some old ports of PS games too.

just went through their list of published games on Wikipedia, nope, persona 5 s is the first one to get day one versions. A few cross platform late ports or new versions happen though.

P5S is a Koei Tecmo game, and Koei Tecmo is pretty much all with the Switch already.

Have they ever outsourced ports before?

That would be as equally weird and new.

I guess someone like O-TWO could do it...
