Switch stock problems became more obvious this week. Demand has started to exceed supply again for OG model but Lite is fully stocked and will prevent complete sell outs like last year.

Looking at the list of 2007 PS3 top sellers you understand how much things have changed for Sony and Nintendo third party support 14 years later.

Are we talking Summer (June, July, August), levels of stock problems, or fall (September, October, November) levels of stock problems?

Complete Switch sell out last year was at mid April when Nintendo stopped shipping systems at Japan.

Guess we are gonna see the Woody/KH3 gif more often the next couple weeks.
the rush of nostalgia they're getting from this is going to make them want to make ps5 games only
I mean its the only thing that would make sense.

Meant to post this sooner, but I didn't have internet on thursday, so I'm posting it now:

Tbone5189 You didn't mention in your weekly post that 3DS years 5+6 Q1 were already surpassed by NSW 2021 Q1, did you?

Miitopia releasing at June pushes next Tomodachi Collection even further, development might take longer than expected.

It took 3,5 years going from 1 to 2 and it's been already 8 years since Tomodachi Life came out.

I sometimes feel the expectations of Switch software sales in this thread is way too big. I think if Skywards Swords sells around the same as the original release (physical) then that will be a decent result.
Agreed. I'm sure I saw somewhere in one of these threads (or a non-MC one) where someone was expecting 10m sold for Pikmin 3. I love Pikmin as much as the next person but let's be real here.

Will lite model cover OG though? Lite model is the only thing that really needs a price cut (not now but definitely the only one).

W4: 27.9k
W5: 23.5k
W6: 23.5k
W7: 21.5k

well there aren't any lotteries yet so stocks shouldn't be as bad unless it's not needed for 70-80k weekly shipments??

This is probably the most surprising thing of the generation for me.

It is somewhat surprising.

I'll say it's a further reflection of how we(meaning not only people on forums but industry analysts and media) can have a somewhat rigid, and myopic view of how we analyse what the value proposition of a console is.

It's the same logic that told everyone that mobile games had killed any appeal for a dedicated gaming device with portability as a selling point, and that the failure of the 3DS and Vita at the $250 price point meant that the Switch was pricing itself out of the portable market altogether.

We can have a good estimate for Age of Calamity Asian split. From 660k shipment, around 450k is for Japan with 100k of them being digital sales.

Do you think they might be development issues?

I think that Nintendo might want to avoid an overlapping with Animal Crossing (the two games target a very similar audience, especially latecomers as Tomodachi, in particular in Europe, was popular among kids) which really is exploding in sales and popularity. They perhaps want to give more to the market to digest Animal Crossing and exploit this to have a big game in 2022.

Momotaro with Physical + Digital sales should be close to 2.4 million in Japan right? It should be able to cross 3 million before the end of the year.

SM3DW+BF has a solid start and that Switch is selling so good.

Also glad that PlayStation 5 is above 20k

Momotaro crossed 2.5m two weeks ago.

It is aiming for 3.5m for the year tbh.

Oh wow, 3.5 million is a goal it will reach with every holiday boost. Konami must be so happy to have such a big hit in their hands

Trying to get my head around what you mean, sorry. Are you saying that the 830k shipment from CY 2018 wasn't added to until sometime in 2020 when 830k was finally exceeded?

I thought that the 830k number from financials in 2018 was "retail sell-through+My Nintendo Store sales+digital"?

Therefore, in 2018 it sold 664,815 retail (or whatever the number is from Media Create, since someone corrected me earlier saying financials are MC based), and the remainder was what was sold at My Nintendo Store and via eShop (i.e. ~165k).

Sadly, whilst it's obviously unconfirmed, that sort of thing will definitely still be going on in some companies, so it's not that surprising.

Only kink is that the generic Olympics game came out on Switch too (and sold FAR more on it too!), which you'd think Nagoshi would have prevented if this leak is true. Very believable otherwise IMO.

If this was true id imagine the president was already coming down on him at that point and was probably looking at sakura wars very intently

The only thing that gives me any doubt that it's complete nonsense is the fact they apparently posted it in December, a month before the news was public. That would need to be verified though...
