MK8 DX has a lot going for it, being the definite version of the game with a lot of extra content, and it was there in the Switch launch period. Mario Kart is huge and I'm sure that all these factors encouraged a lot of double dipping from owners of the Wii U version.

Pokken DX is the same thing to a lesser extent and in smaller scale.

The early months after launch were in a sweet spot for upgraded re-releases. But now we're in a period where the launch enthusiasm has passed and the install base difference isn't big enough yet, so this isn't the best possible time to release ports without significant upgrades.

Yeah, but Bayonetta 2 is a single player game. People who have played it on Wii U have little reason to buy it again except they are collectors or in love with the game. Mario Kart and Pokken are multiplayer games and additionally have new content. So there are more reasons to buy the game again:

- new content
- playing online where most of the people are
- playing locally with friends on the go (car drive or vacation for example)
- graphical fidelity (only Mario Kart 8)

In summary i would support Hierophs argumentation.

Until week 1 of 2017 Mario Kart 8 sold 1.286.281 units on the Wii U. (Famitsu)
Mario 8 Deluxe sold 1.327.003 units until now. (Famitsu)
I think it is safe to say Mario Kart 8 Deluxe oldsold the original release in Japan.
If not, then in the following weeks for sure. Probalby almost no one bought MK8 for Wii U since the Switch Event in January?

30-40k opening for DQB assures a 100-150k LTD at the very least. Could be bigger depending on when Square starts communicating about DQB2.

That's true if it shows typical Switch game legs. Less of a sure thing if it follows sales of the PS4/PS3/Vita versions.

I think it can, but i most of digital for Monster Hunter World at launch was because stock problems, so i don't think it'll have good legs... Should get very close at least.

It has already had a couple of weeks since that number so it depends on how it has done digitally in the past weeks. 1M digital could actually be possible if it continues to have good legs.

Most of the digital sales were contributed to sold out stock during early launch. So it still entirely depends on if stock is good for the next few weeks.

It also seems pretty likely famitsu looked at Capcom's public shipment number (2M) and did some math- the total 1st week sales with digital is almost exactly 2M IIRC.

MHW seems to be holding well even by YSO's predictions. Should be at 2.6 million, not even including the 4 or so weeks of digital sales, in 2 weeks. 3 million seems like a lock.
Crazy to think there is a console game hitting 3 million in this climate.

It wont mean anything even if Switch version did the best there as the decline would be much bigger focus. And from what we see all version releasing wont slow down the decline vs the first entry.

Well many said it above but bomb and sales numbers are two different things, we need to look at sellthrough % to be able to know what is a bomb and what isn't (and even that is not enough in some cases)

There is one console only game doing that. It's an anomaly. I don't see it happening again. Maybe mhw2 if it doesn't get a switch release. Switch would definitely eat into sales so you wouldn't get 3m console only sales.
