World stock issues I don't think effected COMG ratio since many games don't have that 1:1k ratio. Like Comg customers tend to be more PlayStation skewed
True, it's just MH out of the top games is the one that people will pre order more than day 1 buyers. That's why something like AC went from 805 to 1800+ meaning more than half the people people who bought it didn't pre order
I think there is something to be said for the general excitement of a big game release. Especially on something like Switch that appeals to a wider demographic as your example shows. I think it will overperform at retail (not to the same extent of course) and show great legs due to this audience. One that does not preorder.

I think many people love the art and covers of Bravely Default. Back in the 3DS days there was an excuse for the graphics to not look like on the covers.
It is not the chibi designs by itself. Snack World for example has also chibi designs but nobody complaints because it is like that on the cover.
Imagine Pokemon having Monster Hunter stylised Pokemon on the covers. There would also be many sad complainers wishing the cover art to be ingame.

A big openening and a hard drop with no legs would be a perfect and clear message to the publisher. Show interest and deny it. Hopefully it happens.

They already publicly apologized for the issues the game has, so they are aware lol.
This game is going to be kinda weird because it's still topping the Eshop charts and Marvelous probably isn't going to share digital numbers

It also admittedly held better in the UK than P5 Strikers or the resurgent (due to new PS5 SKU) Yakuza 7. It's more that we had the expected doomsaying last week based on UK chart position alone, which you'd think people would've learned by now.
It's admittedly still way behind Octopath though which had only a 60% drop in its second week, a pretty big feat for a JRPG.

Admittedly, nobody expected it to sell better than Octopath Traveler, a 2.5 million seller, a pretty big feat for a JRPG.
Octopath is on its way to sell 3m+. For a new IP.
It is an incredible feat. Took decades for franchises like Persona and Fire Emblem to reach these heights. Even higher than any Tales of or Xenoblade game.
Sure but still keeping pace with BD1 at least and due to the nature of digital now likely exceeding it in total. Also well ahead of Second thankfully.

The author of the article speculated that the reason the new releases didn't chart in Korea is that while the games do support Korean, they didn't release physical copies of the games there, so they were not accounted for in the charts.
What is the MHR double pack? Are there two editions of the game?
Pokémon SW/SH also opened higher than world, despite fewer COMG pre-orders. Maybe Switch users don't preorder as much?
I posted above the ratio. Comg just shows it's more skewed towards Sony consumers. Comg is relevant again for NSW games as shown
Sure, I'm not putting that expectation of the game. Just pointing out that whilst 74% is a decent drop for a JRPG it's still not being carried by WoM as Octopath was.
Indeed and looking at Chris' earlier posts in here there's a slight chance it actually has the highest second week out of all of them in Japan.
Which is weird because you can see the package version in the Korean trailer.
I can't read Korean, but it seems there is a retail version.
Maybe some last minute delay at retail?

I was intrigued by the controversy regarding the Chinese translation and did a search on it. Some players were put off by some of the more archaic sounding translations that are more at home in a wuxia novel than a European themed JRPG. Also bunches of skill names were badly butchered.
There's a supposed post by someone on the Chinese translating team that they didn't receive debugger machines that can download BDII. They didn't play through the game at all and based the translation solely on the Japanese and English script. (Post is deleted, but people replied to the post before it was deleted.)
One thing in the deleted post caught my attention. Post mentioned that the team received a beta Windows version where they can walk around but not talk to NPC. Maybe there will be a Steam release in a years time like Octopath.

Sega of Asia links several retailers where you can buy physical copies of Story of Seasons, there wasn't a delay in Korea.
July might also end up as a surprisingly big month if other pieces fall into the right place (TGAA Duology, Pro Baseball Spirits, Shin-Chan)
