Yesterday, Konami announced that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will release on PC on October 24th. However, it appears that this collection requires a controller, and it won't officially support keyboard and mouse.

Konami launched – and then took down – the official Steam store page of the collection. And as the Steam page states.

"Notice: METAL GEAR SOLID – Master Collection Version requires a controller in order to play. Playing with a keyboard and mouse isn't supported."

When it comes to Konami and Collections, I know to have doubts going in, it's just best to be cautious at this point.

Lol, imagine forcing people to play a shooter with controller. I'm sure this will come across well with PC players.

More options are always better.

However I think I’d rather be tasked with defusing a nuclear bomb than trying to play these games with a KB/M.

It doesn't affect me personally, but I can already picture the well deserved "mostly negative" Steam reviews.

Was going to use a controller anyways BUT this tells me all I need to know about the quality of the PC ports. It’s going to be very low effort in all possible ways, everything will be blurry, low FPS lock, bad controls with no options at all for anything, etc

someone will mod it in :P (sucks that they even have to, hopefully over time Konami patches kb & m controls)

It doesn’t bother me but that does not bode well for the quality of the port. As expected from Konami, honestly. I hope it works well on the deck but maybe I should temper my expectations.

Doesn't original have kbm support? Why would remaster make game worse isn't remasters supposed to improve?

I've managed to get in the steam page, apparently it was just MGS1 on Steam for now? Maybe its not the case for all the games

I've been waiting for a collection so long, it sort of bums me out that they seemingly aren't making any meaningful enhancements - just straight, no/low effort ports.

Being a fan of Konami games is the cruelest curse.

I don't think every PC game has to support KB+M, but really devs should really just include keyboard controls to avoid the negative PR no matter how shitty they are to use.
Maybe not every but M+KB is still used by majority or at least half of the PC gamers..not supporting native controls for a major title or titles is really poor. Honestly this screams of a straight console to PC port to me.

How the fuck do you do this? Shit, even for games that straight up tell you to use a controller on PC (Outer Wilds), you can still use full keyboard and mouse. This is a joke.

Sucks the option for it isn’t there but I don’t mind personally since I’ll be playing it with a controller like I played them on my ps3 years ago

Good. Clearly Kojima-sans artistic vision never considered mouse and keyboard to be an option for the player to use. Thus these ports should not tolerate attempts by filthy PC players to subvert this holy artistic intent. Indeed, the games should check if there is any mouse and keyboard connected when they are launched, and instantly crash the PC if that's the case.

I was always going to play with a controller anyway, but doesn't fill me with hope about the general quality of the port.

I believe that every PC game should support KB+M, for the sake of accessibility.

That being said, this isn't stopping me from buying this collection. At all. Give it to me. Now.

Its not that I was going to use M&K on this but something like this is a very good sign that you are looking at a shitty port at worst or a barebones one at best.

Honestly for these games as long as there is a resolution selector, I'm set. We already know it will run at 60 FPS because the 360 and PS3 versions do, and this is based on these. So the likely 60 FPS cap won't bother me (a 30 FPS cap would)

(MGS1 probably IS capped at 30 but eh, it's a PSX game)

Huh? I’ve played the original pc port and psycho mantis can only be beaten by using keyboard controls (he dodges gamepad inputs). Wonder how they will get around the controller slot for this.

No M+K support means a lot of accessibility devices are fucked, yay for gamers with disabilities.
