when the amiibo for skyward sword and the special joycon for skyward sword came and went, it irked me that they went so fast but it's zelda. i have a ton of zelda stuff. masters edition of botw, zelda wii u and 3ds system(s), gold wii remote, gold carts, whatever. nintendo does it a lot.
metroid dread on the other hand - like it's more special. this was something that was in the background for years. after the prime series died, after other m and federation force came and went, people just stopped asking for it. metroid was another thing now. samus returns was just nice to have, and a sign of possibly good things to come. but metroid dread is one of those games. one of those games like skies of arcadia 2 or the last guardian or half-life 3 - where you know they existed at some point, in the background, but never expect to actually see again as companies move on. and for all the waiting the fans went through, living in an at most, 19 year drought since fusion (zero mission and samus returns are awesome), the special thing nintendo does is immediately snapped up and sold at much higher prices.
they need to get better at this. there's actually no reason why there couldn't be enough inventory to go around for at least a full actual day. especially now that the switch is such a success. it really sucks and while i don't care about not getting the special edition as much as others (really only the art book speaks to me), i really sympathize with them.
