"Braudy worked for Douglas's company Stonebridge Productions in the late 1980s.

She claims he used sexual language in front of her, including openly discussing extra-marital affairs, while she was running the firm's New York office.

Braudy also alleges that Douglas commented about her body, which made her then wear loose, dark clothing.

She alleged he masturbated in front of her during a one-on-one script meeting in his apartment in 1989 and that she rushed out, feeling humiliated.

"I realised he thought he could do anything he wanted because he was so much more powerful than I was," she said, adding that she ran home and vowed to never be alone with him again. She finished working for him later that year.

It's probably true.

Why would Disney cut ties over an allegation from a single person? I can understand if maybe there was a huge number of accusers but as if now it's he said/she said.

How is it people (in this thread) believe this "story" right out of the gate? Now, that is sickening since there is 0 evidence at this point. Anybody can say anything at this point and you can destroy a career or gain attention.

This is exact the problem. He also spoke about this some time ago, dismissing all the allegations.

The problem is the rape culture that permeates this and probably every other culture.

You are almost never going to have evidence that will satisfy the doubters regarding men acting like animals with women.

Yeah this is becoming farcical. He gave a comprehensive statement denying this. Her accusation should be investigated rigorously and to the fullest extent but he has a right to defend himself. We have quite literally no evidence yet.

and I have a right to believe her. False rape-accusations are extremely rare. The cultural burden placed on women that come forward, which this thread demonstrates, is largely what keeps more women from coming forward. There's little reason to come forward with an accusation that isn't true.

I really don't know about this one.

The complaints seem all over the place, it feels less credible than most of the other allegations we've heard thus far.

Best to wait and see if others join her.

The thing is that nobody who does this sort of thing does it just once, specially when they're this rich. Most of the time, multiple accusers come out. That's what happened with Weinstein, Spacey or even Lasseter.

False allegations happen though... and they ruin lives. I don't subscribe to "trust all women" or "women don't lie" or whatever the mantra was in regards to sexual impropriety because factually it isn't true. I'm not calling her a liar at this point but I'm not going to blindly believe anything that any accuser says.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with saying lets take the accuser seriously and see what evidence the investigation throws up put the calling the man garbage and sick in what is essentially a he said/she said situation with literally no other evidence seems very extreme and unjust.

There are a myriad of reasons she might have made this up. Most of them tend to be the kind of reactionary knee-jerk reasons that MRA punks trot out immediately in situations like this: She wants money, she's still mad 30+ years later, she hates men, she's being opportunistic because of #MeToo, she's blaming him for her own faults, she's not remembering correctly etc etc.

I'm not saying any of those are true, or false, because we can't possibly know. That's why there's a legal process that accusations like this are intended to be put through, to verify or refute the claims being made. The point others are making in this thread is that we cannot continue this pattern of immediately calling for someone's head just because someone accused them of something.

Not adressing you two directly, just the links. But yeesh, it reads like that kid who got in trouble at school, who know they did something shitty but told on YOU before you could tell on them. It doesn't matter if he got his story out first, it doesn't make him innocent of what he did.

Having a pre-marital affair, or sexual/explicit talk not addressed to her isn't anything really. It's his business if he wants to cheat and if he wants to talk like that. Masturbating in front of her and remarking about body, especially as a married man and in a working relationship is incredibly shitty.
