Microsoft is pledging $500 million to build and preserve affordable housing units and address homelessness in the Puget Sound region, the company announced Wednesday.

The Redmond-based company plans to distribute $475 million to developers for affordable housing construction over three years. The tech giant will donate the remaining $25 million to the region's homeless and low-income residents.

I'm waiting for Disney to do something in Florida. After watching Florida Project, I'm dumbstruck on how such a mega-billion tourist attraction sits in the middle of essentially a 3rd world city.

If only there was a way to compel rich corporations to give money towards a common good. If we ever come up with something like that it should be mandatory.

As all these tech companies that destroy any semblance of affordability everywhere they go should. Corporations should either pay up via taxes or pay up via donation. Either will get them some good PR, which God knows tech companies need nowadays.

In seattle? If were just talking houses like 1000-1300. Just going by normal market value.
