Minecraft: Bedrock Edition now has dedicated servers

Still in alpha.

Switch version cannot connect to dedicated servers. Xbox One can only connect through LAN. Sucks, but at least there's now another option besides Realms.

Humm, I thought I saw something on the Switch News app that dedicated servers were available?

Switch can connect to Realms which is Microsoft's paid hosting service. This lets you host worlds on your own server for free.

Any word on what platforms will eventually be able to use this once it's properly released? Switch/real Xbox (not just LAN) support planned?

Mobile, Windows 10, Gear VR, and Fire TV can use it. They're not going to say that Switch and Xbox One will never be properly supported, but the problem is almost certainly the rules that Nintendo and Microsoft put on games on their platforms rather than any tech issue.

I look forward to a dedicated Era Server. Our Era Realm just has to many issues with lag and stuff sometimes.

Can't wait to see impressions for this server software. Hopefully this will end up much better than Realms.

Someone is now working on an app that will spoof a LAN connection so Xbox One can connect to a dedicated server over the internet.
