It's crazy. At most you would expect several stationed cars and maybe several officers outside. But no, the clip makes it look as if DOZENS of officers are just standing there. The message couldn't be any more clear.

We could just go to city hall with pictures of George and some signs. Sat theres no rain. The one time i regret not having any social media.. I have no powers of assembly. Could just go and see who else shows up.I've been keeping an eye out for any activity in Atlanta. Seems pretty quiet. I'm waiting though. My hours have been severely cut and we're in a pandemic. I've got time.
I hate police unions giving other unions a bad name. I’ve seen tons of people lumping teacher’s unions in with them and saying they have too much power, which is laughable. Teacher‘s unions rarely (granted sometimes) protect truly shitty and awful teachers, whereas police unions protect murderers.Just so you know, the police chief is appointed. The Police Union President, the guy cops actually listen to and elect, is a MAGA chud.
If anything, could be a anarchist.
"Justice for Floyd but we don’t support looting " lol ok.
sure, but thats true everywhere in the country. Minneapolis is one of the worst on itYou can’t have any criminal record and usually need to have some form of degree in order to become a police officer.
and it’s by design that will strike out a lot of black applicants since the police tend to have a religious hard on about arresting black youth with puffed up charges. Let alone being able to afford school to meet the application criteria.
then we have to get to the psychology of joining the Feds/Ops in the first place. Here’s a group that has been busting your ass since you breathed air for the first time.... why the hell would you be looking to join them for? You spend your entire life avoiding them at any cost.
with all that said, in the macro, I agree with you in that police need to be the people from the community, who have rapport and relationships and can humanize with people like a cop is suppose to. But the truth of the matter is that before we can even get to those steps, the police organization will need serious reform and accountability...
we’re gonna need that before any black person can consider a law enforcement career without the guilt of it being detrimental to their own people
"Our friend is black but..."
Yah this is a huge blow to people who don't have cars and are poor. They can't easily travel somewhere else to get these supplies, especially in a pandemic.
Saw this before but seriously how fucked are your priorities that you get a rifle to shoot/intimidate citizens with
This explains why they choose to abandon their duties and and instead stand shoulder to shoulder to protect a murderer.sure, but thats true everywhere in the country. Minneapolis is one of the worst on it

Hopefully they're mad at police for failing to do their job in a competent manner and instead abandon their posts and fail to de-escalate the situation.
I think that played into it. They can also be angry at the looters too.Hopefully they're mad at police for failing to do their job in a competent manner and instead abandon their posts and fail to de-escalate the situation.
You actually don't need a college degree to become a police officer, though they'll often require you to have some college credit hours. No, what's most hilarious is the courts have ruled that you can be rejected from the police force for being "over qualified." That's right, if you're too smart and good for the job they can legally reject you.You can’t have any criminal record and usually need to have some form of degree in order to become a police officer.

It wasn't just a Target. I think people are more concerned about the small businesses and low-income families being affected.Peaceful protest clearly don’t work. All this fake ass concern over a fucking target is pissing me off.
Windows can be replaced. People cannot. The entire city could burn and it wouldn't detract from the actual damage done to the community. It wasn't just a Target.

A list of the buildings damaged, looted in Minneapolis and St. Paul
The list will be updated as more reports come in.bringmethenews.com
Yep, anarchist.
Heres the masked guy just breaking shit before he walked off and being confronted.
Wellp.

They should be using their platform to primarily ensure that this doesn't happen again by helping the black community. and not just white liberal "I can't breathe" posts.I think that played into it. They can also be angry at the looters too.
A small local restaurant owned by minorities was robbed of $15,000. That was keeping them afloat. I live in the city too. I don't want it to burn down (but I do want change). Do you live here?Windows can be replaced. People cannot. The entire city could burn and it wouldn't detract from the actual damage done to the community.
I'm whatever the opposite of impressed is, but at least it was volunteered rather than wheedled out of them - although it may be an attempt to gfet out ahead of protests.Frankly, not impressed. Even the St. Paul police chief had harsher words: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10207596286541047&id=1707177342
What purpose does the looting serve, though?Windows can be replaced. People cannot. The entire city could burn and it wouldn't detract from the actual damage done to the community.
Source? They can get that back through donations easily.A small local restaurant owned by minorities was robbed of $15,000. That was keeping them afloat. I live in the city too. I don't want it to burn down. Do you live here?
So, there's a line to be drawn here. No one should be mourning for Target Corporation or AutoZone Inc.Windows can be replaced. People cannot. The entire city could burn and it wouldn't detract from the actual damage done to the community.
These people don’t care about our city. I’m so sad every time I read burn it down on this site. Hopefully there is an arrest soon.A small local restaurant owned by minorities was robbed of $15,000. That was keeping them afloat. I live in the city too. I don't want it to burn down. Do you live here?
Attention towards something bigger. Here are some MLK views on rioting and looting I found just from a quick search. A short but to the point read.

I saw some folks chat about it on FB. Did find an article, though:
Sounds like the prototypical Joe Rogan fan lol. Come across too many of those in my life and yeah, not worth entertaining that type of sheltered existence and ignorant world view.Yes. I use those terms interchangeably I guess.
I remember one Minnesotan I met that I thought was cool was adamant that he didn't vote for Trump. Months later he told me drunkenly that he didn't vote for Hilary either and was more of a libertarian "socially liberal" but "fiscally conservative." Type.
I don't talk to him anymore.
Agreed. If people wanna "burn it down" so badly. Then why don't they start by burning their own things? Their own property? Their own business? If they believe that is the road to change. I don't. So I'm not gunna wish for that. These people don’t care about our city. I’m so sad every time I read burn it down on this site. Hopefully there is an arrest soon.
People are more concerned about the greater injustice here. These people don’t care about our city. I’m so sad every time I read burn it down on this site. Hopefully there is an arrest soon.
I work but I deliver pizza and hate my job. No qualms about calling out for a protest.I've been keeping an eye out for any activity in Atlanta. Seems pretty quiet. I'm waiting though. My hours have been severely cut and we're in a pandemic. I've got time.
People see it as a redistribution of wealth and that stores are insured so any damage or lost of goods doesn't hurt them. And that people looting don't care anymore, don't think they will be caught when everyone doing it and that if they do get arrested they get arrested and face trial.
I get that, but as citizens we can also be concerned of the destruction too. I don’t give a shit if a Target gets looted but the little guys are already having it tough with covid shutting things down, getting robbed and vandalized on top of that ain’t necessary.
To be fair, burning down a target is probably one of the most direct attacks to white culture you can do. That's a direct attack on Karens everywhere. One of my Facebook friends was like "I don't support the police but Target..."
Fuck the looting narrative.
I think you need to reevaluate this sentence lolThe entire city could burn and it wouldn't detract from the actual damage done to the community.
someone should attach it to a gif from TLOU, then maybe people will pay attention to itCan we put the staff communication in Bold?
Maybe make it flash?
