Minneapolis protests over murder of George Floyd. Police response more severe than when white supremacists stormed capitol. (See Threadmarks to help)

For this first time in a very long time, I'm proud of something in this country: this rioting/protesting. Put a big smile on my face seeing what they did to the squad cars and police station.

I guess I am. I'll be quiet and listen more.
You should. The police killed a man and tried to lie about even though people saw it and it was all video taped. They said he resisted when he didn't. They killed him and tried to say he died at the hospital even though he was lifeless on the camera, his face pale, the color of a white sheet, with his body as still as the car they killed him next to. And this isn't a rare occurrence. The only thing that people can do in response is get more heated and violent.

Saw that - the kind of response that actually carries some weight. And $$$. It’s not nothing.
Sure does. The U of M is located in Minneapolis. Not normal for a university to be in a city this size so this is a ton of money out of their pockets. I like the statement. The fact this is happening in my state makes me sad but its been boiling over for so long.. between the Minneapolis Police and St Paul police killing innocent people there are deep issues that need to be cleaned out. I know its all over the country but I want this shit Police force gutted and replaced.

And we've been through this. Over and over. And we're sick of watching the same bullshit play out. Protests start, police push back and use their military grade weapons to gleefully punish.

If anyone thinks non-violent protest is still the way forward here, just stand aside and shut up. It's not your business.

I'm not sad, I'm proud. Minneapolis has some amazing people, but we have tons of deaf "Liberal" (Live/Laugh/Love) types that rest on their laurels of being a northern state that "isn't racist." They need to wake the fuck up and I feel like this is actually doing it for some. We've let this shit slide for too long and enough is enough.
Im with you.. 100% agree.... Like I said this has been boiling over for a while. Its time to make the mayor.. gov and others in charge do something other cities / states have not done. I want real change not just weak ass tweets and statements. So I hope tonight and any that follow.. make a massive impact.

Will do. I'm sorry, I seem to have been ill-informed towards the history of protesting. I'll leave the issue alone from now on.
I know you mean well. Violence disgusts me. But property damage at a time like this has to be the least of our concerns. Black lives matter SO much more it's barely worth a conversation.

Sorry, not trying to be an asshole and target you specifically. This is life or death stuff for millions of people.

This is the apex of right wing militia lifestyle.

I NEED TO ARM MYSELF TO PROTECT THE LOCAL TOBACO SHOP. BECAUSE...
if thats their business, I don't mind them trying to protect it. However -- they should have insurance. But this adds to the whole cake of why you need to do something about racism. So shit like this does not happen. Its a whole fucking mess.

Overheard on a stream, at the pawn shop --

"Owner shot someone."

rioting/looting is dangerous.

I'm worried about cops coming over and thinking that they're a threat. Tensions are really high right now.
Sure, thats fair, I just don't wanna see people justifying LOOTING. Like come the fuck on people. Flip as many cop cars as you can find for all I care but there's no reason to use this tragedy as a means of getting free shit.

Damn the riot destroying business property. Why is it when a riot becomes violent they deface and destroy their city and local businesses?

I had a discussion with a older man who participated in the Detroit riots back in the 60's. He always said it was a feeling of being in the moment and the sensation of empowerment. He didn't regret it.

All I see is how they hurt their neighbors and damage their city. :/

Edit: Wait is it the citizens destroying the area or the police?
