the HELP Menu.
Both this thread and the article appear to be clickbait, no? This is the actual question asked:

That question has nothing to do with online services on their consoles. His answer:

It looks like Miyamoto just lumped in cloud computing, streaming and mobile advances into the catch-all "network services" in that answer.

So basically he is not saying what this thread title claims he is.

Hey everyone, READ THIS POST, this thread is, YET ANOTHER CLICKBAIT THREAD.

It turns out, Miyamoto was responding to a questions regarding growing VG tech like VR and Cloud Computing, and asking if Nintendo is falling behind in taking advantage of these.

Miyamoto, referring to these as "Network Services," believes that at the company, Nintendo is experimenting and developing with these technologies in mind, exemplified with VR by the Labo VR kit, and that their constant experimentation is pushing them to continue making experiences unique to Nintendo using these trends.

He wasn't commenting on the lacklustre attempts at online with the switch, that wasn't even brought up. Pick a freaking article where they actually talk about this very real issue with Nintendo before you start this garbage clickbait Nonsense.

Can we not keep miscontectualizing developer words and responses to burn everyone's ass and get all giddy about incompetence, for at least one week?

I feel like we have shitty threads like this nearly every week now. And nobody's doing anything about it when mistruth is uncovered with their premises. And that's disappointing.

Bruh, I can't even buy Super Metroid or Ocarina of Time on your network. There are more PS1 games on the Switch than there are N64 games.

Okay, fair enough. Miyamoto may or may not think Nintendo's online services are up to par.

In fairness to everyone posting: they are not up to par. Nobody would be dogpiling if this weren't a huge blind spot for the company.

Pathetic thread quoting out of context as several have highlighted, but even worse, some people are using Miyamoto's age to attack him.

Doesn't explained the lack of improvement of the OS.
It does though?
People buy the Switch as it is in droves; as such there's no need to spend time, money and resources improving the OS as Nintendo already know people will buy and even defend them regardless. Then they can make even more profit just by coasting along.

Fuck all that independently researched thinking.. let's have a good old Reddit style mindless dog-pile and project our personal anger onto an old man who has brought more happiness to people than all of us put together

Thanks for trying but at this point I kinda feel like we're shouting at the void here. People would rather feign outrage about something tangentially related to what they're angry at then actually read the source of the article.

What is their idea of cost-effective? Like, they have the money to make the online infrastructure better, they're essentially admitting that they're too stingy to even put in the slightest effort to make it better.

Yeah, it's basically that. Nintendo can probably pull a nice online-service off, but they won't because they like to be "conservative" with their spending. Sure, it's a nice business strategy for them, but as one of their customers, it's just baffling and probably the reason many people hate Nintendo with so much passion and can't stop laughing at them.

Them being "stingy" is the reason it's so frustrating to be a Nintendo fan. Their games are great, but everything else is just trash.

Don't try to deflect the problem though. Regardless of their reasons, their online service is trash.

Them not upgrading their online-service because they want to keep their precious money, is way worse than not being able to for technical or backward reasons.

But sony improved the os while selling shitload of PS4.
The same goes with apple or a lot of other company.
When the Wii u wasn't selling, they didn't improved the os either (not counting the improvement of the infamous os 1.0)

I think they just don't care. Because if it was about money, we would have paid theme support since a long time.

What? How could someone like Miyamoto say this? It makes a lot of sense though if that's how all of the higher ups at Nintendo think though.

This thread title and OP don't mesh with the actual interview so to stop it from further misleading people we're locking the thread.
