I spent a lot of time crunching some numbers and running sims and that's just how it all came up.

A deep division and interleague games against the AL West make for a brutal schedule this year, but I'm optimistic that this club can stay in the mix. The rotation's good, despite the 5th starter spot being a huge question mark, and Jamo looks poised to have a breakout season. The bullpen is great. The defense should be much better on the left side of the infield. I'm expecting more power from the lineup this year with Kang back and Dickerson adjusting his approach.

World Series: I really think the Yankees have the best shot as long as they get healthy (and preferably pick up another starter at the deadline). They won 100 games last year despite a bunch of key players missing extended time (Judge, Didi, Chapman, Torres, Tanaka, Sanchez) and got noticeably better this offseason. I'd also love for the Dodgers to become the Bills but their cryptonite the Cardinals are low key forming a powerhouse so I think they'll come out of the NL unless the Phillies are able to stop them.
Time for another disappointing Jays season. But hey, at least Vlad will be exciting.

It's really just a matter of starting pitching. Brewers don't have anyone worthwhile, Cubs are either aging (Lester and Hamels) or inconsistent (Darvish and Quintana), Reds are unproven, Cards seem solid but lack a big name ace, and the Pirates really depend on which Archer we get. Reds and Brewers should have top tier offenses with the Cardinals possibly also being in that range. Cubs still have plenty of quality batters as well.
So short answer: Nah, they just don't have the pitching of the East.
It's the other way. You are seeing so many different choices for the NL central because it's that competitive.
keep in mind last year the two best records in the NL both came from the NL central.

Cardnials
Brewers are considered top 10 teams so no.
Reds are unproven but have a huge upside and could surprise.
Pirates starting rotation can win them games and they are building a core.
If the Reds are competing at the deadline. Dick Williams is trading India for Madbum. We have Suarez for 5 more seasons after so he's landlocked.
Go Royals! Let's... make some positive progress this year at least.
