Yes the tutorial is good (it tells you the basic rules but the help pops up in further legends because there can be many special rules or items) but the game is pretty ‘simple’ (perfect for digital). The complexity kicks in later on because all the various simple things are pretty complex considered all together.
You basically move you heroes on a (gorgeous map) to do quests (from fetching an item to escort a prince back to the castle).
Every action takes time and you can do so many actions during a day.
Legends are failed if you don’t do the quests whitin certain days so you have to carefully consider what to do in which order.
One thing you will learn fast is that you don’t have to fight every monster, because it takes on day and it consumes your precious time.
BUT monsters move at the end of the day...maybe blocking important routes etc...

Here you can have an idea of how the game plays, even if the player doesn’t seem to understand exactly what to do or use the archer dice.

I’m still at third, mind you....failed it a ton at normal difficulty....trying all sort of different strategies but they always destroy my castle before I manage to kill the siege troll.
The gameplay is exactly as the boardgame, as far as I can tell (they tweaked the dwarf warrior special ability but I don’t remember well).
Story and quests are always the same; elements of variability are random dice of course and fog (placing of things inside fog is random).
UI is excellent.
It’s crashy on iPad Air (dev told me a patch is in the works for next week) but plays wonderfully on iPhone X (no sync tough).

The duck when you are in last mission of Alien blockout, a inch from the end, and all of a sudden you see the Xenomorph (Triple?) mouth and you throw your phone in the air in panic.

Bought it yesterday and it is pretty sweet. Arcade arena topdown shooter evader of some sorts with the twist that you fire from the back. There are many upgrades (new weapons (can carry up to 4), pickups and passive abilities... and you can upgrade each thing 3 times more). Movement is a bit strange at first since there is not tutorial, tap somewhere to move, so far it works. I like it

Also enjoying Galaxy Stack a lot. A vertical shooter+make a tower a big as you can. Different ships with weapons, bosses, a nice tune, perfect controls, made with love, get hectic, endless. Enjoying it a lot along with Spitkiss and Backfire

Sorry for the plug, but we just updated The Knight Watch a puzzle game combining chess mechanics with arcade gameplay.
The new update brings 2 new wrestling-inspired themes for all those who watched Royal Rumble yesterday.

We also added
- Quality of Life improvements
- Bugs fixing

Sorry I did not yet but it’s next in my to buy list.
Currently I’m playing Legends of Andor but mostly Alien Blackout which I can’t put it down despite having already completed it (I’m now replaying the whole game trying to save everyone and getting all dialogues).

Apple publishing/pushing more premium titles would be great news. You would think they would pair it with their own controller.
I think Marizpan I going to be really interesting for macOS games.

Doubt it would happen but would love to see some freemium titles added to the subscription with IAPs taken away. Perhaps some older titles where the publisher is trying to get people interested then sell them on their newer game. There’s some F2P stuff that looks fun but I wouldn’t touch because of all the gotcha mechanics.

On one hand, this might help bring games to iOS that otherwise might skip the platform solely due to the crappy economics of the App Store. But I remain skeptical because I have yet to see Apple handle gaming well. Game Center, MFi, Apple TV, etc. It's all been a mess. I've enjoyed many mobile games despite this, not because of anything Apple's done.

A little over 7 hours later and a million screaming deaths, I finally completed Alien blackout with everyone alive.

IT WAS GLORIOUS.

I really don’t get the hate, imho the game is fantastic, perfect for touch screens (you really have that tactile feel of 80 sci-fi) and one of the best movie tie in since years, I really felt Ripley.
AI is pretty great, awesome graphics and beyond glorious sounds.

Despite having completed it twice...I’ve already started a new playthrough.

If you're looking for a neat little time waster, Jumping Joe is fun. The game is over a year old, but I saw it mentioned in the eShop thread. Turns out to be a pretty good endless jumping game. Nothing revolutionary, but the focus on left/right swiping rather than the actual jumping works well to zone out with.

Then all the talk of Wargroove got me to fire up Warbits. Which is a very well done Advance Wars clone, but also reminded me I think I like AW more in concept than in practice. As I absolutely suck at the game:(

Some people just see it as a FNAF clone and nothing more even though it's much better than FNAF imo.

Also, yeah, try out Backfire guys. It's amazing.

Thanks. I didn’t like it at first (mostly because of the art style), but it became somewhat addicting at some point. But I just reincarnated for the first time and I really dislike how slow my progress is again..

Immortal Rogue coming Feb 20th for $4.99(3.99 if you preorder). I played a testflight build and thought it had huge potential. The game is played in portrait mode and combat is done with one hand but the weapons all have different perks which keeps the gameplay from feeling too simple. Reminded me of the combat in Wayward souls actually.

I’d recommend Kittens Game. You’ll get a few months out of that one. Your first prestige will take 2-3 weeks though. It speeds up a lot after that.
