No one ever made a "rolling" vertical landing with a Harrier before? Is it not capable of that?
If Wikipedia is accurate, the Royal Navy might be being deliberately ambiguous to sound more impressive. Best as I can tell, it's the first rolling landing performed with an F35, but not the first ever.
And they'll be able to maneuver better. Just listen to the unpleasant moans of the pilot from being tossed around like a rag doll.

Visited my local RAF base again last week, as they currently have the F/A-18s of Fliegerstaffel 18 "Panthers" over for a month-long night-flying exercise (restrictions on winter night-flying in Switzerland mean that they have to look for other locations to train). Lovely winter light and plenty of flying made for some good photo opportunities:
