Finally "finished" my comfy end game GS mixed set that fits my play style. I absolutely hate roars, especially being roared out of TCS. When I never get hit by roars I do more consistent damage. I also hate stuns, so that's gotta be in there as well. There's a little room for improvement, but that would require some slot 4 jewels I don't have.

I can swap out jewels in the Glider Mantle to suit specific hunts (or swap mantles). I like having the Affinity Booster to put down at opportune moments, soon I'll be able to upgrade it at MR175 I believe.

This is so much more fun to play for me than the boring meta.

What are your current non-meta end game sets?

I said I'd be coin farming but in the end I only got a single King Hero Coin. LOL
Upgrading the 14 weapons is going to be a long task. :*)
On another note, so far, all the HR SOS I've joined with the Gratitude armour have netted me a VIP ticket.
One may argue that a 50% out of the plant collecting quest may be faster than nearly 100% while joining HR SOS but I do that anyways so it's a win for me.

Max earplugs. Might make a build like that. Would be nice to not be interrupted for once.

Screw the meta. I just fully upgraded the palace GS and will break Safi's face with it.
To be fair, having a base 15% affinity bonus makes it a very high-tier GS, since you can combine it with maxed out Handicraft with three pieces of Teo armor and the usual decorations to give it virtually unlimited purple sharpness, long before diving into weapon customization. Perhaps not the best GS in the long run once you start getting into mods, but I've been very happy with it thus far while also looking great.

That's what I currently use as my all around comfy set. I usually peel off some critical eye when I want to gem in various resistances or max partbreaker. It works good. You can really take a beating with Health Boost 3 and Divine Blessing 5. It's fun and my play style is a little more wild with it.

I just got the Safi blast gs the other day and am working on augmenting and upgrading that. Then I'll just drop it in place of the poison one that I'm currently using.

Edit: ResetEra isn't letting me post images on mobile for some reason....

Thanks for posting, that looks nice. I think I might try that out as well and see if I like Divine Blessing, which is something I haven't really tried yet.

I also have a fully awakened Safi blast GS, but I honestly don't think it matters too much which status you use outside specific monster weaknesses. I just like the purple one better :) (fashion is important!) - and monsters drooling purple poison goop is always nice.

Man, the Lance is so satisfying to use once you get used to the playstyle. It's surprisingly fun to constantly poke the monsters without ever pausing.

Tackling through a roar is must know stuff but the main thing as a GS is if you are charging and see a roar coming the time to cancel the charge is usually longer than it takes the roar to come out.

Earplugs let's you say fuck it and chop anyway.

Thanks

Is there a discord or group for ERA? Otherwise idk how to gather up people to do this.
i believe the discord's link is in the OP but I dont know how active it is. I usually hunt Safi with randoms, just look for a session with people playing it. Since is a pretty straightforward fight they normally don't fuck up.

So, I just got Iceborne on PC yesterday. MR monsters are tough and take a long time to kill with my HR LBG stuff 😨

I might switch over to Hammer or LS for now and make a beeline to Narga so I can craft its stuff. I want that RF Pierce 2!

How much worth is upgrading Blast Attack? contemplating augmenting the last socket on my Safi Blast LS with element up but I dunno if it would be a waste of Great Spiritvein gen.

I wouldn't take it over Health, Attack, or Affinity, but if you've got nothing else to pick then you might as well.

I have that covered, but gems aren't exactly common so I don't feel like wasting one if it's not gonna make a difference.
Yeah I get that. If you don't want to grind then I wouldn't bother. I have to imagine it's either 1-2 more explosions if the monster is weak enough to blast or just getting the same number a bit sooner.

I don't totally understand the need for defensive skills aside from Vit Boost and Stun Resistance on ssssome monsters. Earplugs especially, monsters only really roar at pretty obvious times—on aggro, which happens like clockwork so it's easy to roll/gp/tackle or whatever, and on deaggro, which is harder to predict but it also doesn't really mattered if you're roared while a monster is backing off. Not getting chain-roared during turf wars would be nice, but again, it's not like that's a huge damage window you're missing out on if you do get roared, and slotting 5 Earplugs is expensive

Is anyone gonna be doing more Arena farming today? Probably won't be on for another 3 hours or so, tho...

Also, if there's still room, can I get an invite to the Era PS4 squad? Been playing for a while (currently up to MR 104).

I mean, it's just convenience. Sure you can slot in more damage based skills, roll the roars and finish a hunt a couple minutes faster but the timing on rolling roars can be tricky sometimes and it's nice to not have to worry about it.

I dunno if anyone knows the answer to this.

When you Clutch CLaw a monster, can you slow anything in to avoid the flinging off that happens so often when the monster runs forward, milliseconds after CCing them.

If you're alone you really need to time it after an attack or have temporal or rocksteady mantles ready. If you're playing with other people they can make it flinch by shooting it with some of the decent slinger ammo like bomb pods or crystalbursts while you use the clutch claw

So flinch free does not work at all? I have started running Temporal, just to bypass the annoyance. Some monsters just move around super quick and the CC can activate super slow sometimes.

Welp, found a monster that's impossible for me to beat.

Barioth.

My game crashes every single time I fight him. Six attempts, six crashes. The last one was when he was nearly dead and limping away.

Capcpom plz

I couldn't resist and took a look at how the Safi Jiva weapons work/will work on PC.
It actually looks really interesting! Much better than the RNG Kulve Taroth grind.

Just got to Valhazak in the main story.. when can I unlock Divine Blessing level 5? mine only goes up to 3 ( at least that's what I remember )
It's a 2 piece gold rathian set bonus.
I use it on most of my sets since it triggers very often and gold rath armour has some good pieces.

There are event quests to hunt it (5 star, I think) which pop up every 3 weeks or so, otherwise you need to get a high level wildspire region in the guiding lands. It might need MR70, I'm not sure. I know I did the event quest right after beating the main story.

Teostra and gold rath makes a good set. Safi essences let you add garuga boots while keeping both set bonuses, though I don't know if it's worth losing an attack up 5 to get it.

It is really well implemented - and fun! In my experience it doesn't take long to get the base weapon(s) you want and from there it's just having fun running the siege to get Dracolite for awakening. I spent a lot of time on it between xmas and new year and it was mostly fun. When you go to get rewards at the end you should equip the weapon type you're after and you'll get more weapons of that type to choose from in the rewards box.

So I kinda want to make a sticky bowgun and from what I've read the Safi aquashot is the best. What awakenings am I looking for on it? I think Zorah set bonus would be good but other than that what do I choose?

some builds can afford to do it

ie long 7 gunlance

also helps a lot for nailing wsb

Anyone wanna do arena? I need to do the MR one with Zinogre and a HR one with two Diablos, but if you need to do other ones I'll also gladly help with those :)

Get the Narga piece bonus on the gun because the Zorah pieces are better for skills. Then load up on attack. You can throw on a Recoil awakening if you want to run Wyvernmine Counter, but otherwise it's just Narga awakening + max attack.

Most monsters also roar on enrage, which granted is also pretty obvious(generally right after they get up from a wall slam). The build that was linked above specifically mentionned Safi roaring a bunch however, I'm a backwater PC player so haven't done Safi so can't comment on that.

Generally though I'd agree, it's a hefty investment for a very small gains. Yeah roars are annoying, but not enough to slot the whole Earplugs 5 imo, there's a lot more utility skills I'd rather have for general play like Divine Blessing or Blight Resistance and I also like having a good bit of the damage skills in.

That said to each his own, builds should be tailored around what you enjoy I think and if they really hate roars that much people should just make earplug builds that's fine.

I finally finished crafting my SnS build today and been running it solo and in groups and I love it, first time I ever use Speed Eating and I didn't know it sped potions that much, running 3pc brute tigrex+speed eating, party version has wide range 5 and it's just nice to be able to chug potions near instantly to heal up people who can't dodge. That or using nullberries to dispel their lightning blight because they're not doing it and will possibly cart the next time they get hit. Meanwhile I still have ok damage in the build(affinity capped and attack boost 6 naturally) so I do reasonable damage when I'm not healing, I took the solo version which switches a few things around in GL and it worked pretty well there too. Having fun with the speed chugging and not running out of potions doing it, even though it isn't really meta since it doesn't kill stuff faster.

I've also crafted the 2pc gold rathian for divine blessing 5 so I think I'll be trying out builds with that mixed in(probably teostra/goldian for now).

So you know what's actually a really fun build? Not like an insane good build or meta or whatever but just fun?
That build from the Zinogre arena for the greatsword where you have 100% draw affinity and adds stun to draw attacks and uses the impact mantle. It's hilarious. So fun to knock a monster out multiple times with a damn greatsword.

I was too distraught by how little damage it was doing to care that it was getting knockbacks and KOs. When you're used to true charges doing between 1000-2000 damage and you land a true charge on a wounded part for 400, it's hard not to cringe.

I tend to only clutch when the monster doe that drooling with the head to the side thing. Give you enough time to clutch to the face and run into a wall without any flinging off.
