Got the expansion, haven't played in a long time tbh. Took me a bit of training to get "back" into fighting.
My first encounter on the new island vs Beotodus took me forever, like 30 minutes or so. I was getting worried I was doing something very wrong. Damn I'm bad at the game.

Slinger burst for greatsword is a game changer. So many more ways to hit tcs, greatsword is more versatile now.

I'm currently using the Glavenus armor which gives me negative ice resist. And I just got the Velkhana hunt. This'll be fun...

So, only play when you have plenty of time? Roger that.
It settles down to hunts being regularly under 10 minutes with current end game gears on consoles. But when you're still early in Iceborne it can be rough.

First thing first, learn the new clutch claw stuff, wounding and especially wall slams can cut your time by 10 minutes even early on.

I got back in to the game yesterday for the first time since Rajang dropped. Any idea when the Safi siege returns?

Also had a question regarding the best pre-Safi bow builds in https://imgur.com/a/MWGUFI0 - I notice some of these builds have low Critical Eye and other random attack stats. Any particular reason why these are now considered the best instead of in the past where it was literally max out Critical Eye/Boost/Weakness Exploit/elemental damage and go to town on shit?

Did the Stygian Zinogre which was quite challenging and am now getting back in to the swing of things for the most part.

Ugh, all my friends individually did the 3 first expeditions alone because we didn't realise you could quit them and group up. Painful. I thought we'd be past this but apparently not!

Otherwise loving the new expansion. The new gathering hub is perfect! Love everything about Seliana.

Because the Safi set bonus applies a shit ton of affinity and element allowing for other skills to be slotted in

Make no mistake all the skills you mentioned are still as useful as before there is just so many useful skills in Iceborne that diversity has blown up a bit

So in the Guiding Lands I just capture monsters, collect all kinds of stuff and that's it?
I don't really understand what the purpose of the whole thing is.

I was doing the first MR Rathalos quest, and near the end right before capturing it, I heard the loudest fucking roar ever. It wasn't the Rathalos. Wtf was that?

There's a thing in Iceborne where whenever a monster roars to summon a "friendly" monster (Rathalos for Rathian, Legiana for Shrieking Legiana, etc.) the friendly monster responds with a roar. However, for some reason the response roar is extremely loud and distorted and sounds like some kind of Lovecraftian hellbeast.

I don't really understand what the purpose of the whole thing is.

Guiding lands has all new materials to collect from every monster as well as bonepiles and Mining points

The point of the guiding lands its to push your weapons, armor, and charms to their final upgrades. These materials are used in the new augment system allowing you to upgrade weapons, armor and charms further

It also is a great place to casual hunt the entire roster! You can earn crowns there, get normal mats and decorations, and since its an expedition you dont need to worry about failure

Its the perfect endgame for those who just love to hunt! Now... if you are one of those players that need to be lead by a carrot on a stick to an "ending" I dont know what else to tell ya

Each MH player has to decide for themselves when the game is "complete" for them. There are several monsters that can ONLY be unlocked/fought in the Guiding lands as well not to mention its the only way to hunt and unlock tempered monsters and their investigations outside of event quests.

And Tempered Investigations are once again the source of high rarity lvl 4 decorations. See how the loop works? Whether or not you find this loop engaging is up to you.

We also have more endgame pursuits on the way in the form of future events, monsters, DLC etc..

each monster drop a GL specific drop
you need them for augmenting your gear, especially tempered elders in GL

Looks like they are using Agitator in lieu of Crit Eye. Since you can force rage with three claw attacks while clutched it's value as a skill has increased in IB.

It's because some of these bows either have built-in affinity or they're using an affinity augment. All you need is to get to 50% crit so that weakness exploit can fill in the remaining 50%.

So about the Steamworks....

The tutorial tells me I need to guess the correct sequence. So when it shows X, A, Y for example it isn't necessarily in that order? To me it looked like that. Except for when the game highlights the buttons.

Or better yet, force rage using a slinger burst. You get the big damage + agitator status during the down, and then if you can knock it out or get another damage window (para, trip, trap, etc) during the enrage your agitator skills really pays off.

It's totally random which order you're supposed to press it in and you're just supposed to guess unless you activate the Felyne bonus. Once you finish it once you can just hold a button to have it just roll through left to right.

Sure that sequence is ideal but a single flinch shot won't force enrage, you can use that fact to get two wall knocks before the rage cycle starts if everything lines up. Or you can turn 3 times first, then wall knock If want to enrage as quick as possible. I was more explaining the increased utility of Agitator in IB and why it's used more frequently now.

Realistically, how many hours of grinding i can cut with this defenders armour and weapon kit?
I want to start the expansion on pc but i clocked like 200+ hours on console (and i was out of the game before the first bonus monster, the hangry trex) and i really can't put soo many hours before starting iceborne...

Is the pc version still populated by people who are completing the vanilla game or i'm gonna be alone like a turd?

As long as you dont care about missing out on the vanilla "experience" then yeah. Guardian set will allow you to steamroll the base game easily

However I would at least have a guide ready for unlocking cat tools, mantles, and canteen ingredients at the very least

Will make your Iceborne run much smoother

You are definitely going to want to visit this thread (https://www.resetera.com/threads/monster-hunter-world-pc-performance-thread.61145/) as the PC version as all kinds of quirks and fixes being passed around

Let me just say your mileage may vary. Make sure to at the very least back up your save, check the RockPapershotgun guide

and even look at the guides on how to fool the Anticheat system to stop eating all your CPU power :/

Good luck!

Did the three elder dragons for the story mission last night. Defender armor is op but also very excited that my fps stayed up at 60 fps during Kushala and Teostra. When the base game came out my computer with 1080 and Ryzen 1800x was dropping to about 10 fps during the Kushala nest area and teostra super nova. I haven't changed anything on my computer since then. Its nice to get to continue to play this game htis time. Needing to farm those elder dragons with these FPS drops is why I dropped the game a month into pc launch.

i forgot but what fps you get on performance mode on pro or x?

i just got master edition on pc this past weekend and manage to tweak my setting to get 59fps consistently and it seems to be more input responsive than my pro. but im unsure since i havent play ib on pro for a while.

My first cart of the expansion and my first failed mission were on the same quest, a certain rumbly, ugly boi.

Got him my second go round with only 1 cart (Lance sheathe is just slow enough to where I got caught by a double beam combo). Got 2 gems from the first hunt.

Loving this expansion so far!

I was not fully prepared for that Ruiner Nerg MR99 unlock hunt.

Me during the first section of the fight "This is just like the old times fighting Nergy" Then... oh no... the new spikes, the bleeding, visions of impending doom, the sweet embrace of the cart.

Stacked three suture jewels, bumped my def a bit and then it went much smoother.

That seems low.

If they bring the right songs by looking at the weapon selection of the team, and those buffs are on good players, yes it can easily make the difference. Things like high earplugs or wind/tremor resistance on the right monsters, constant heals on shit like teo/Luna flame auras, or near infinite stamina on certain classes like DB and bow can elevate dps significantly. Large attack up on 3 great players is almost another dps with the multiplicative nature of its buff

So many players ignore defensive or QoL skills and buffs, much less use items like dash juice every fight, because they chase after a damage meta and ignore what having greater attack windows or need to heal, can add. A decent HH can easily fill in those gaps, but again it comes down to the players they are buffing. On anything less than 4 players though, I kind of give HH the side eye in terms of damage contribution though, with the way HP scaling works now. But they are so rare anyway I almost never think about it
Your comment about using the right horn depending on the monster makes sense, as well as the comment about running HH with less than a full group. I run with a group that has a HH user and he says his damage is fine since he's support but I don't buy it. He uses the same horn every fight and it's not even a g rank one, he says cuz his horn has better songs but it's like dude, you only did 3k damage to a 50k hp boss, gimme a break...

DF's video on the base game release shows Pro in the 30's and 40's in the Ancient Forest, while the One X seems to generally be about 5-10 FPS higher or so. It does seem that Xbox is using lower LOD Bias settings than PS4, so that along with its higher specs probably help performance quite a bit. Fewer draw calls for the massively bottlenecked CPUs probably go a long way. Other maps with less foliage performed better. I haven't seen any update since the IB release, so no idea if there have been improvements to the console versions.

Here are the original videos for the console and PC base game releases:

ic. that explains the feeling of more responsiveness on pc than console. just wasnt sure was console 60fps or not when I was thinking about it lol.

its like bringing a fire elemnt weap to a fire monster and saying its the raw dmg that counts, meanwhile its sharpness is piss poor too :P

Best and fastest ways to armor spheres are investigations and bounties, right? I'm in need of quite a few and especially the best ones because the other ones barely level me up at all, so slow!

Yeah, you want to have bounties active at all times and keep adding new ones when you complete them. I have thousands of armor spheres from doing bounties while I play.

More or less, since the best and most commonly-used gear will be from elder dragons and other endgame monsters, so don't stress too much about your armor or skill combinations until then. Just get whatever and use armor spheres to get enough defense to survive through the story.

Its amazing how often some monsters will enrage the moment I clutch on to punch them in the head and smash it against a wall. Its a pretty dick move.
