I think I need to rethink my dmg rotations, even pre-buffs i'm not seeing near the number I see streamers pull off.
I'm definitely on camp "take it slow". I've done all the optionals that have the bubble with the three dots that indicate special rewards on first time completion like box or mantle upgrades as soon as they appear.I was so surprised that I was in the minority of "taking it slow".
Yeah its good especially since monsters take absolutely forever to enrage now. I can get 2 KOs with hammer with a pure damage build on some of them before they even think about enraging. More specifically, the small claw hits before smashing them into the wall causes the enrage btw. 3 circle attack hits on the head will trigger enrage no matter what, even if they are exhausted. So I think that abusing the fact that monsters get enraged right after you smash them into a wall to keep agitator always activated is like, my new favorite thing ever?

If anyone is curious, this is the endgame bow set I've settled on until I can get that True Critical Element Silver Rathalos armor:
Velkhana Helm B (slotted for Normal Shots and Constitution)
Velkhana Chest B (slotted for Bow Charge Plus and Critical Eye)
Teostra Arms B (slotted for Weakness Exploit x2)
Namielle Waist B (slotted for Spread Shots and Critical Eye x2)
Namielle Legs B (slotted for Normal Shots and Constitution)
Level 3 charm for each element
This gives Normal Shots 2, Spread Shots 1, Constitution 3, Stamina Surge 3, Weakness Exploit 3, Bow Charge Plus, Critical Eye 3, level 3 of the respective elemental attack, and Quick Sheath 2 and Divine Blessing 2 as free QoL skills, along with Critical Element and Element Acceleration set bonuses. The elemental attack charms can be upgraded a further two levels once I get the materials, and most of the bows can slot in another point of elemental attack or Critical Eye depending on the setup. The water bow slots in a Free Element jewel and the Namielle bonus activates the other two points of the skill, in theory anyway.
Unless you really want one of her weapons just skip her. You don't need to fight her to get to master rank.
It says that they have special rewards on first completion for each of their descriptions. XD

If you start a new game why do you get access to the guardian alpha plus armour set from the beginning?

Oh yeah, forgot about that

I didn't know it was the claw!! Thank you for that haha. Feel like I usually have to reposition them anyway or just claw them when I have a light weapon but that's good to knowYeah its good especially since monsters take absolutely forever to enrage now. I know, but I wanted to tackle all the old content I missed before diving into Iceborne.Unless you really want one of her weapons just skip her. You don't need to fight her to get to master rank.
What would be better, the regular Kulve Taroth R8 Ice hammer or a medium/high Elderseal weapon like either the Nerg or VH hammers?Fire proof mantle and health Booster
Stay on her flank and go to town with a good ice weapon
Fire res helps a lot.
LBG is a new thing for me, but it sure sounds very useful for this fight. I need to find out what these recoil mods are. I think it'll be a good idea to get to the training ground and see what that weapon is all about. As for armor, my biggest defense is the Nergigante armor.
I know, but I wanted to tackle all the old content I missed before diving into Iceborne.
Besides, it wouldn't feel right to skip her just because she kicked my ass once.

I went in blind and the supernovas were the main reason I failed the assignment. Made me cart twice; the first time it took me by surprise and the second time I misjudged the distance of the hurtbox. From what I understand I should superman dive the first blast and stay on the ground to tank through the second, right?
The 15 minute timer isn't helping here, but hopefully my next attempt will go better.
It's meant as a way to fast track new players through the first two ranks as catch up olive branch for Iceborne
A good tip too is having flash pods and when she is all fired up get away and blind her, it'll trigger her supernova almost always.I went in blind and the supernovas were the main reason I failed the assignment.
While I appreciate the gesture doesn't that take away having to try and earn armour sets in the base game since they're now superfluous?
1 - bowguns dont have innate element and instead have access to element ammo. In the case of Light Bowguns you may have access to Rapid Fire of that particular elemental ammo with that gun but im not sure
2 - They are exactly what they sound like. You can craft mods onto your gun to give you access to various bonuses or modifications to how your gun operates. I believe this is all done at the smithy and recoil reduction is very useful but make sure you need it before wasting a mod slot on it. you can see the recoil stats of a particular gun for a given ammo type in its info screen (highlight gun in the equipment menu and scroll its pages)
3 - Just bring all the relevant ammo you need and set it as an Item loadout. There is a separate bag just for ammo so it doesnt use inventory space. You can either buy it or mass craft it. You are limited to how much of each ammo you can carry in the field but you can replenish it by bringing the materials in your normal inventory or gathering them in the field. I dont recommend the later unless you did some serious pre planning and research. You can also set up a hotkey to instant craft extra ammo on your radial menu and this is an invaluable skill for any gunner to learn especially if your gun specializes in a particular ammo type.
There is so much more to learn about bowguns but this is the basics. Hit me up with any further questions!
Nice, lots of great help!
There's another thing, I want to use water ammo but I see a red X on the icon. Is this because my weapon is the lightning Blitz and that I need to have a LBG from the water tree?

These are my stats with meal + fully buffed:I just eat the damage. With enough fire rest/mantle or health booster the normal Lunastra shouldnt be able to cart you even with a full nova
Youll want to have upgraded armor that puts you over 400 defense though. If you need extra then eat for high defense or elemental res with a voucher
Also consider running health boost or divine blessing.
Stay aggressive and avoid that tail and you should be fine
Hadn't even thought of the farcaster. That might be a good idea actually!A good tip for Luna is to use the heat guard charm and cool drinks. They dramatically reduce damage from the blue-fire pools.
Also, keep a farcaster on quick-dial. You can usually survive the initial nova blast (with a dive or tanking it if your fire resistance is good enough) but get killed by the DOT in the aftershock/firestorm (the dive won't keep you down for long enough). You can usually get a farcaster launched before you die.
Cheesing it with temporal/fire mantle and tool specialist was possible (just don't fight unless one of those is active), but temporal mantle has been nerfed so I expect you can't do that any more.
So HR content with MR gear? I dunno, kind of feels like cheesing it that way. :pMy advice, start Iceborne, get Beotodus or more desirable Banbaro's outfit, fight Lunastra and Teostra and whatever you need to fight in HR.
These are my stats with meal + fully buffed:
Problem with the Nova was that I could survive the first blast, only to get stunlocked by something (wind? the heat patches? I'm not sure honestly) and get killed by the DoT + second blast. The layout of the arena really isn't helpful since the ring isn't wide enough to outrun the blasts even when you're both on opposite sides of the ring.
Hadn't even thought of the farcaster. That might be a good idea actually!
I already took the cool drinks, but I hadn't thought of the heat charm yet either. Do they stack, though?

Tip for the nova windpress is instead of diving the initial blast, power charge your hammer and hold the charge for a bit. Hammer gets some super armor while charging in power charge (other weapons have other options for this as well) After the flames come out, roll to cancel the charge, sheathe and spam dive away from her. You have full immunity from the ticking fire damage while you are in the diving animation. This will reduce the damage you take significantly. These are my stats with meal + fully buffed:

the new mr bone tree hammer is a replacement for diablos without neg affinity. you need to gather some of the bone piles for special dragon artifact loot tho. think u need 1 or 2 only.I was away last weekend so I'm really behind and just got kicked repeatedly in the butt by Barioth.
But man I missed this game so much. 250hrs in, I booted Iceborne and immediately remembered why I love this game so much.
Last time I played was for the spring event. I'm way less rusty then I anticipated (back then when I played the spring event after a long break it took me a solid day to be able to play lol).
anyway, any good new hammers?
Only active when the mantle is activeso how does deco on mantle work?
you have to use it in quest to activate the deco or its like any other armor pcs?
Booyah!
in 7.5 hours we will have some Rajang and maybe some news?
I would not expect an announcement of any further DLC until after Rajang is released.
Do you get a pendant for that? I got my first pendant for doing a tempered master rank monster.
I could see an announcement of a collaboration event quest with another Capcom series. I know they dropped the ball on that in the base game, but we still got DMC and Mega Man in there and it's odd that we haven't heard about anything new.I would not expect an announcement of any further DLC until after Rajang is released.
