There are, right now draw attack GS seems better suited for elemental GSes since it requires Velkhana's set level 4 skill. Now this style may not be over all stronger than regular World GS style of relying on TCS set ups, but it's different enough to feel fresh if you didn't use it in previous MH games, and strong enough that you wouldn't feel like you're limiting yourself(it actually still out DPS a lot of other weapons).
This is a nice video if you're not familiar with draw GS:
I wanna make some kind of healer build. Recovery Up, Speed Eating, Wide Range, Free Meal level 3, that kind of stuff. Was considering using it with the Hunter Horn. Anyone do this yet?
The Tigrex Free Meal Secret is RIDICULOUS. I run a hunting horn set with that bonus and getting back the items 75% of the time you use them is incredibly good for team play. Especially with a full wide range charm. I can heal everyone constantly and through the worst of times in an instant. Nobody dies on my watch unless they get 1 shot lol!
The budget was elsewhere sadly. Some weapons made the transition, but others got the ugly bone treatment.
I'm losing my mind. I have been trying for DAYS to beat Velkhana (the iceborne wyvern quest, the one after the siege encounter with it) with zero luck. Matchmaking every time, usually with people who have a higher MR and HR than me.
Tried to solo it and with his focus on just me, it felt impossible--at least with Lance. Maybe something a little more ranged/mobile like Bow would work.
Outside of that initial attempt, I always have a full team (of randoms). I've literally probably tried it 15 times and the team wipes every time. Sometimes we get pretty far. For my part, maybe 2-3 of those are my fault (1-2 wipes from me in those matches), but I'm just a little shocked at how little luck I've had with this. It never took me this long to get past ANY of the monsters in vanilla.
I can do the investigation right now. You want to set it up?If you need one I can escort you on a hunt for it. I have tracks saved up to summon 3 of them in my Guiding Lands. Only thing is, I'm not sure how the Guiding Lands works if I have to be party leader to call the monster and the MR is too high a level for someone else to join. I also have an investigation for one that requires you to be MR 70 if you're just looking for a standard hunt.
Sure'
Sweet. Incoming. PSN is IKizzLE
God damn that was tougher than I thought! Thanks for the carry! Lol
That 20 minute time limit had me sweatin' lol! But that was a fun one. Good hunt :)God damn that was tougher than I thought! Thanks for the carry! Lol
Sure but I'm on Xbox. What's your platform?
Damn. ps4. That cross play future can't get here soon enough.Sure but I'm on Xbox. What's your platform?
Team just wiped again. I feel like every time, everyone gets too confident as the fight goes on and they get caught with their pants down when they're ice blasted twice in a row.
I just finished this fight myself earlier this evening, using the lance. On one hand it's definitely tough because it feels like it's hard to get opportunities to really pour on damage, but getting enough guard-related skill means you also can get away with not having to worry too hard about a lot of Velk's nonsense either. You can guard through the floor-icicle attacks and having the Uragaan armor Guard Boost bonus means you can block the ice breath stuff too, of course along with all the tail-stabs as well.I'm losing my mind. Does anyone have a silver Los investigation? If I see him in that by joining your session, will it be active for me cause I'm tired if this fucking grind

The big problems are:
1. That circular "ice pool" thing it can occasionally do that is unblockable as far as I can tell, and basically guarantees a free hit on you
2. On the occasions where you do take a hit, having a good opportunity to sheathe and recover suddenly becomes that much tougher
I took in my Glavenus lance in hopes that the fire damage would help out, and wound up clearing the fight with a little over 4 minutes to spare. From the fight I wound up in after that, it feels like Velkhanna signifies another spot of the game where monster HP pools jump up another tier? Acidic Glavenus and Ebony Odo definitely didn't feel like they stood up to the same amount of beating that Velkhanna and what comes after it do.
Recently picked up Hammer again, absolutely LOVE the clutch actions with it. Spinning jumps and knockdowns all the time!
When I farmed Blackveil Vaal Hazaak for his armor I also picked up his Hammer for good measure. I only got that one and the Rank 10 Baan Hammer for Iceborne - what else is good? I read somewhere the Kulu hammer is great?
I still don't know why people recommend Recovery Up for a Wide Range healing set. According to this it only affects you (it hardly matters because as a healer you are typically healing more than you need) but not your teammates unless they have the skill themselves. So it's pretty pointless when playing support. If you can't get to 5 wide and whatever the fast eating skill is called with optional recovery up 3, on just the armor and charm, then make sure you pick a weapon with enough slots to do so.

Extreme Behemoth is such a pain in the ass, even with MR gear people die all the time and whenever I do find a good group shit like this happens.

Acid Glavenus last hammer (The Matting Grinder?) is pretty much the best one till endgame postgame. Diablos Nero + Diablos Set = Slugger Bonus Level 5 makes any monster stunned after a few hits.
Kulu hammer is great for most of MR, but I don't know how well it holds up against some of the later MR hammers.
Advantages:
- Large 1352 base damage
- White sharpness, plenty if you run handicraft
- Inate 25% affinity
- Locked element, thus benefits from an Elementless jewel
- You can get the ultimate R10 version as soon as you beat Nargacuga
Drawbacks
- No slots
The Acidic Glavenus hammer looks good, and I can definitely see the R11 version overtaking the Kulu hammer. It has white sharpness, even bigger base damage and a level 4 slot (!), but no affinity and the white sharpness is minimal even with handicraft 3. The R11 version is probably better, but I just beat Seething Bazel and I can't even forge it yet. Whereas the Kulu hammer is available very early.
The Barroth hammer is good as well in the beginning. Even bigger damage than the Kulu hammer, -10 affinity but a +25 defense bonus, some white sharpness with handicraft and two L2 slots. Plus it's also elementless.
I don't know about endgame weapons, since I only just beat Seething Bazel and most of the R11 hammers still show as question marks. I personally can't wait until I can finally upgrade my trusty Ragefire Magda Floga. God I love the look of that thing.

Yeah I love how the Rath hammer looks. Rathalos and Rathian actually got a few nice additions in Iceborne. Their new DBs look amazing and the new Rathian SA line also looks cool. Thanks for the answers guys! I'll try both the Acidic Glav and Kulu ones then and experiment a bit. Something to look forward to after work!
I also think the Rath hammer looks awesome, but limits itself only to monsters weak to fire.

That's what happens when you won't learn to claw.LR Diablos: 3 minutes
HR Diablos: 7 minutes
MR Diablos: 28 minutes
🤔
So I either have to spend 30 minutes on a MR hunt or I have to learn a feature I don't have fun with. Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me.
It does get more fun when you become proficient, but yeah, you're kinda stuck with it. It's the one huge addition to combat in the expansion, and it makes you way more powerful. The monsters' health pools are set with that in mind.So I either have to spend 30 minutes on a MR hunt or I have to learn a feature I don't have fun with. Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me.
I mean, if you don't want to learn how to increase you damage output, your damage output will not increase! What's wrong with that?!So I either have to spend 30 minutes on a MR hunt or I have to learn a feature I don't have fun with. Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me.
Also if you're using end game weapons, MR in under 10 is pretty easy even without CC, and if you really did beat LR Diablos in 3 minutes with LR gear, you could probably get under 5 for MR Diablos with MR gear.LR Diablos: 3 minutes
HR Diablos: 7 minutes
MR Diablos: 28 minutes
🤔
LR Diablos: 3 minutes

I think I timed out on LR Diablos the first time I ever saw it. And it never became a 3 minutes fight while I was still wearing LR gear.Get better weapons and you will take it down in way less minutes. If you abuse the claw it's even way faster. I know you are not one of them that complained I think, but people forgot that LR or HR runs weren't quicker before you had better equipment.
But just use the claw. Just claw to the monster and attack it for weakening and then go ham.
Man getting Scratched Shells from Scarred Garuga is a bitch, I have been farming him all day and got only one.
Figuring out how something works is usually the first step to finding the fun in it.So I either have to spend 30 minutes on a MR hunt or I have to learn a feature I don't have fun with. Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me.
I found it clunky too at first, but once I got acquainted with the claw (with Switch Axe and Hammer) and try to incorporate it more I have MUCH better clear times. It gives combat a different flow. Just try to keep an open mind. I wasn't sure about the claw until I flinch-shotted a monster 4 times in one hunt, now I love it.So I either have to spend 30 minutes on a MR hunt or I have to learn a feature I don't have fun with. Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me.
After fighting him once, you'll most probably get all the GL drops from one run, the game is too generous with that(for making weapons at least). If you need any other mats just search for SOSes with it in, it can take few minutes before finding one but it's like 20x faster than trying to farm the GL version!I know what you mean. I needed 6 in total to make my Garguga arms and final upgrade for Blackwing LBG (Finally done after 3 days). One day I literally played around 1hr 45m of just loading screens trying to get him to respawn on the GL monster list. Its stupid that Scarred Yian is exclusive to GL (unless you're lucky getting an investigation) in addition scatched shells rarely appear in the rewards. I'm thinking of quitting after I beat Ruiner and going back to playing GU. I'm starting to hate this game due to the long loading screens and dumb RNG spawns.
