They should've made AT Kulve require HR 100.

I'm sick of morons jumping in when the have no business doing so.

Got my 5 kills on AT Nerg, no interest in the Ryu layered armor. Not that bad once you figure out his new stuff. Lance makes him piss easy.

Nerg Gamma armor is very underwhelming IMO though. The waist is probably the best thing and it only gives a very slight increase in EFR for optimized melee sets.

Super dumb question regarding preordering, DLC, and region in PS4.

So from my understanding, DLC is regionlocked, so a DLC region must match the disc region.

I just preordered Iceborne from Region 3 PSN.

- I already checked the game box. It's Region 3, have PL AS as code.
- The Origin Set / Fair Wind charm DLC instruction mention it can only redeemed in Region 3 PSN, I redeem them on Region 3 account.
- Ingame control use O instead of X for confirm.
- I can access PSN Store from in game main menu. Tried it with my Region 1 account and got error.
- Its showing ETA time for when Iceborne dropping in Region 3 PSN.

I should be good right ? Is there any way to check if the preordered Iceborne would work with my physical copy ?

The Chest seems insane though just in terms of slots. It's got 3-2-2-1 in terms of efficiency, I'm already thinking of getting rid of my Damascus Chest B for all of my CB sets.

Nergi Y would probably be some of the best armor in the game if it weren't for Drachen.

AT Nerd isn't too bad once you get his new rotation down. AT Xeno is still THAT asshole.
AT Xeno isn't that tough if you run either Pierce HBG or rapid-fire elemental LBG. So easy to stunlock him during rage mode.

And he's much easier than he was when he first showed up thanks to Kulve Y legs.

Yeah sets that use Xeno Gamma like Nerg Y alot. For metahemoth sets, it doesn't do much except a free level in Agitator.

For CB, I'm trying out the new optimal build that uses a bit of Nerg Y in it that lets it get 10 hits of white, but without Master's touch that white goes away fast.

There are so many terrible people trying to fight AT KT. I just know I'm never going to get the Kjarr Water CB/Kjar Decar LS if I can't have a single full KT run where someone doesn't cart 3 times before area 4. God dammit.

I'm using that too but I'm not even bothering with Handicraft 4. 10 hits of white is nothing without PP/MT/RS. I think you might get 1 SAED with white assuming you play 100% perfectly or just spend tons of Whetfish+ Fins (which I don't have).

I just slotted in Guard Up instead.

What also infuriates me is people who don't understand the quest AT ALL. Oh... we're on pursuit level 6 and need 2 more parts to fury... you're right... let's just yolo the head as much as possible to not get that. Oh... you joined a P1 quest with one other person? Well, I think it's safe to say we aren't breaking the horns... let's just get tracks? No? You want to piss her off and get carted by yourself? Great.

Yeah don't do ATKT with anyone under HR100 lol. To be fair though, the game does a pretty bad job at explaining what to do during what pursuit levels.

Man. AT Nerg is quite nuts. His backwards jump. That immediate dive after a jump. Back to back of those if he's feeling generous. His rampage mode is a bit more than I expected.

I gave him about 3 hours of my time last night running everything from cluster, to glutton shotty, to vampire long sword. What worked best for me was clustering to start, guard up gunlance(or high health vampire LS) while the temporal mantle refills. Then cluster him again when it's ready. Keep doing this til it's over. Won't say it's an easy win. That rage when he wakes up in the final room is once again not to be underestimated. He will fuck you up.

I'd be down with ATKT more if there was at least a decent shot of getting what you wanted. But now I have so many KT weapons that most of the time I just end up with repeats instead of the handful of stuff I want. Maybe if the game had some basic system of saying "OK, we'll make new stuff more common than stuff you already have" but alas.

That rage when he wakes up in the final room is once again not to be underestimated.
More than once I have resorted to sleep bombing, farcastering out, and coming back to sleep bomb him again (repeat as necessary).

It's not glamorous, but it gets the job done.

Anybody know of a way to change the character's name or atleast hide it? I got sick of the name I gave my character and it annoys me to no end.

I got to find a good fucking video guide on AT Nerg or something becuase I barely beat him once with the hammer and its been a goddamn nightmare ever since.

This isn't fun, its stressing me out and making me feel like I'm just wasting my time when I go 30-40 minutes only to cart empty handed. Screw this hunt.

Anyone got a screenshot of the AT Nerg Layered armor ? I can't seem to find any and I'm seriously considering skipping because after a full 6 hours over the weekend I'm about done with trying to clear him solo or with a group. Skills look okay but nothing to write home for?

Is there any fight to grind for Tenderizer jewels specifically, or solid Weakness Exploit build? Right now I'm using either the Dragon Eyepatch or Dante's Pants to get a double rank, but I'm loathe to give up my charm or a second subpar armor slot for just one more rank of it.

Layered armor is Ryu.

There is no way to grind for specific jewels. Both "The Greatest Jaggras" and "The Name is Lavasioth" event quests currently up (till Thurs) offer the best grind for decos.

Some general tips for hammer. Phase 2 much much harder to deal with since you lose a lot of openings and the new attack is really punishing. Save the rock falls in area 1 for when phase 2 starts (assuming you are able to push him to phase 2 in area 1). Sheathing and diving is safe for the black spike dive bomb unless the fight goes on too long (nergi's speed increases by a small stacking percentage every time he roars in phase 2). Tremor 1 is useful to avoid the tremor from the new attack. Rolling to the right when he does it is the best way to deal with it, and you can follow up with a level 2 charge attack or a level 1+backswing if you are quick enough. One of the better openings in phase 2 is the big slow right paw slam that he usually does after he knocks you down. If you get into position fast enough, you can get a full triangle combo on the left leg, or a level 1 + backswing + triangle 1 on the head. Big bang when you get a white spike break, unless you are a little slow getting to the head in phase 2. If you are slow, just go for a triangle combo into level 1 + backswing.

That said, this fight is really hard. 1 slip up without your mantles up usually ends in with a cart, especially if you aren't using health boost 3.

Thanks for the tips.

I thought I could make better time (when I beat him with the hammer, I only had about three minutes left) since I seem to do more damage on him successfully quicker and more consistently with the greatsword but once he starts going completely nuts and doing ridiculous backhop pounces and shit, the GS just leaves me too open.

I feel like if you aren't using a weapon with a good shield or a move with built-in iframes (like LS), then you can't just run a full DPS build like normal unless you're so insane at the game that you can still chain trip Nerg despite the higher break values.

Try out Tool Specialist, a level or two of Tremor Res, Quick Sheath (helps with the divebomb), and of course the mandatory Health Boost 3.

Yeah, most of the speed runs I've seen run the full DPS LS build with Peak and they are chain tripping Nerg. Which is great, but us mere mortals need Health 3 instead of Peak. :-) I've gotten 5 out of 7 runs done with LS... foresight is so damn helpful with the Iframes. It just takes forever playing it safe that way.

Cool, thanks for the heads up!

I think I'll focus on AT Xeno and jewel farming for the last two days before the festival ends, thanks all!

Leave it to Corbin to:

- Bounce off the tail, and keeps doing it
- Use tranq bombs on a monster that isn't weak or even in a trap
- Cart 2 times

Asuka unsurprisingly the hard carry.

Kulve Taroth is probably the least fun I've had in a MH game. Granted I've only played GU, MHW and MHFU, but I'd take a thousand arch-tempered Nergigante divebombs over this.

I just installed the craftable Kjarr weapons mod, fought her a few times, and got what I wanted.

Same goes for Behemoth and Leshen.

Fucked up how they've added 5 monsters (KT, Luna, Jho, Leshen and Behemoth) but only Luna and Jho are at all fun to fight. I hope the Iceborne era eschews crossovers in favour of monsters that fit.

I wish this game let you have two weapons equipped at the same time or at least let you change them from the camp, I really can't decide between the longsword and the hammer :p

Finally bit the bullet during the latest sale and got the game on Steam.

Damn, it's good. It might be light on content (which is granted since it's basically MH5) it has the advantage of letting me get into HR after 20 hours or so which is good. Crafted the the Zora Magdaros set asap since it complements the nice Magdaros CB you can get pretty easily, downed the Sakura Rathian so now I feel confortable doing most of my hunts online (only looking at alpha sets since I'm faaaar from having the decorations to make the most of a beta set).

I was wondering if there was an ERA guild set up so I could hang out with chill peeps to hunt some stuff. I guess I'm far off the end game stuff but who knows? Anyway, my Steam ID is the same as my username here so feel free to add me!

KT stinks a lot, but worse than Zorah Magdoros? cmon

e: no clue what happened to that quote

KT feels worse than Zorah because you only need to deal with Zorah twice in the story and then only has 1 decent Gamma armor piece. Add 2 additional runs for layered armor and that's a total of 5 times. KT you have to kill like 100 times and you still might not get what you want and it takes so damn long.

I actually enjoy phase 4-5 but 1-3 are such a slog. It also encourages you to use LBG which is the most boring weapon in the game.

Capcom started listening to the hardcore veteran MH community again when designing the DLC. That community said: "The game is too easy, make it haaaaarder!"
So they did, and the results have mostly been shitty. AT monsters suck, Behemoth is the worst fight I've ever experienced in an MH game, etc.

I hope that Iceborne mimics the excellent balance of the base game's story. Anything and everything you can do after Xeno really isn't fun, interesting or rewarding.

Idk, I think ATs are good overall. Some are garbage, some are improvements. Behemoth and Leshen do feel like overcorrections to community opinions, but ATs aren't really anything new for the series. The games have always had very difficult event versions of monsters released as DLC, and I don't think they will suddenly stop doing that.

People have modded in the quest since the quest data files are all there. It's not officially released for PC until June 7 I believe.

The balance of the AT fights is a bit weird.
For my first AT Nergigante I tried to solo. Teostra refused to do the turf war because I was in the middle of a mount when he entered the area and I ended timing out (maybe I played too conservatively).
Immediately after that I tried a tempered Nergigante just to check with exactly the same equipment and the quest didn't last 10 minutes.

No official date for AT Nergigante on PC that I know of. Capcom probably has a deal with Sony so that all new content comes first on console.

Turf war RNG is one of the more frustrating things about this quest. You shouldn't have to lose out on 2.6k free damage just because he was preoccupied the moment kushala or teo comes in. The triggers for turf wars are too finicky and I hope they address that in iceborne to make things more consistent.

The #1 thing I've heard to do for AT Nerg is to not mount him in the second area. It causes so many problems. Fucking all the ATs in Elder's Recess have this exact same problem and Capcom never bothered to do anything about it.

You'd think they'd at least make the Turf Wars happen in a zone where it isn't really easy to get mounts.

Yeah, in later multiplayer attempts it has been kind of weird how you have 4 people just barely engaging Nergigante once he moves to the second area waiting for the turf war to successfully trigger and be done with it.

I don't have much love for the AT's aside from AT Xeno, which is 10x better than the base version. Behemoth is my favorite fight in the game though.

My only problem with Behemoth is Ecliptic Meteor, and that's only because the game is kinda wonky when it comes to telling if you're actually behind a comet and I don't trust randoms to stay safe.

And Ancient Leshen is great except for his crazy high health. Cut it by 10k and it might be one of my favorite multiplayer fights in the game.

Sign me up on the AT Xeno is harder than AT Nerg. AT Nerg probably hits like a truck much more often. But Xeno is also a pretty tight race against the clock as well.

Anyone solo-hunting AT Nerg and carting, reminder that Fortitude is one of the best, easiest to find and cheapest to slot in decorations you can include to make your hunts go better. If you do cart twice, the 20% extra damage and 30% extra defence is greatly appreciated.

I don't remember all the details but I seem to recall one-horned Diablos in MHF2 (or was it MHFU?) was just Diablos with a lot of life and damage that hit like a train. Maybe easy stuns as well. I think it even gave you a special mail with one broken horn in the shoulder.
Not everything might be accurate and I might be imagining things, it was a long time ago.
