Thanks for this. It'll be nice to start with him with a non-helmet version! There's a tower with Nightwolf gear, skin, and a taunt up now for the next three hours.
Why isn't this character out already? People already paid for him.

I said this the other day when I fought him in a tower. It's so stupid that they added him with the patch, let you fight him in towers, and let you earn gear for him yet you still have to wait until next week to play as him. Talk about stupidity on the developers part. There's a tower with Nightwolf gear, skin, and a taunt up now for the next three hours.

Damn I missed it.There's a tower with Nightwolf gear, skin, and a taunt up now for the next three hours.
It's all marketing. I agree it's fucking stupid.I said this the other day when I fought him in a tower. Anyone earn that Johnny announcer pack yet? or you gotta wait til the thing is over?
Gotta wait til next week unless you hadn't gone back into towers for your last results until after the patch.
It depends on when your region updates their store. For North America, it's probably 24 hours exactly. When can we expect Nightwolf to hit? Is it timezone based or the same time around the world?
I like the variation idea but for MK12 or Injustice 3 they need to simplify it. Just launch with 3-4 variations, all tournament approved.
The bigger change I want to see from MK12 is the elimination of fatalities. Just replace them with Brutalities, as they're the better of the two anyways. Doesn't slow down the game at all and it can lead to some sudden and surprising finishes.
While I think the updated Brutalities as of MKX are a fantastic addition (get all of the absurd violence MK is known for, add the surprise factor, and have it not take extra time) I don't see fatalities ever going away. They are a huge marketing piece for the series. The more likely scenario is that ranked/Kombat league disables fatalities until the final round of a set. They won't go anywhere in unranked/local play.I like the variation idea but for MK12 or Injustice 3 they need to simplify it. Just launch with 3-4 variations, all tournament approved.

It still baffles me that 30 minutes in a Towers of Time nets you more rewards than hours and hours in ranked.
I get that. But why not just have them available in both?As an official single-player Kasual, I'd say it's because more people play single player stuff in these games than ever touch online and that's the audience that causes MK to be as big as it is. Like Max Dood says, they are there for roster, stages, graphics, story, and nostalgia. If it's super balanced or whatever, that's a nice bonus. But the majority of people who play MK never touch online. Netherrealm's putting the dress up options in the modes that people play so they can dress up their characters. Ranked pros stop seeing the graphics after the first three days and only see combos.

In Towers of Time, a four tower platform takes about 35 minutes? You usually get a skin, multiple gear pieces, hundreds of thousands of koins, hearts, souls, augments, and konsumables.
Why not just have a a system where a similar time investment doles out more random rewards while playing ranked? Not taking away any chance casual/single player fans have to earn things, but giving those same chances to the type of person who spends 90% of their time battling other humans. If you had the major competitive players earning stuff on stream, encouraged to customize their characters by playing what they do, it doesn't detract from the single player viewers. If nothing else, it might encourage them to unlock even more stuff ("I saw x playing with this sweet skin...")?
To me, that's just all I ask - have rewards that are consistent with time investment, regardless of which mode is played.
100% agree that point decay isn't a system I enjoy. Rewards are a better incentive than punishment for me. Like I've said previously, I'd way rather the game incentivize logging in and playing matches in Kombat League than punishing those that don't. For me, that could be as simple as "you don't lose points if you lose for the the first two matches per day of Kombat League." It's not enough of a boost that the ranks would be completely warped, but would likely get me trying to earn those free points." It already feels bad losing points for losing matches, we don't need to lose points for not playing them.I think Kombat League is fine aside from two glaring issues:
Point decay and the amount of points lost in the higher levels when you lose a match. No one wants to lose 100 points in 1 match after taking 3 to gain those points, it's asinine and redundant. Hey you spent an hour trying to level up, let me match you with someone in a higher ranking than you AND if you lose take a loss of 100 points and rank down. Stupid.
Point decay punishes people who don't always have time to play and I don't think I need to make a case as to why it should be removed.
I think the exclusive skins, gear, and brutalities are enough incentive to play it and I've also noticed I get match rewards once they are complete now. I think they need to expand on that, especially for a game with such a robust skin/gear/augment pool. Like have daily missions that don't count towards the base KL reward systems.
I really doubt it (if I'm not mistaken, you get prompts online when you level up, and the post-match rewards screen is already long and doesn't provide any relevant info, given how small the rewards are) but even if it's something like that, it'd still be as simple as increasing the number of koins/hearts/souls you earn, so that at the very least you could play for a couple of days online, go into the Krypt's shrine, and unlock skins/gear/augments not out of line with a similar time investment in the Towers of Time. Right now, the rewards for time investment is weighted very heavily towards doing towers.Honestly it might be something as silly and simple as the time it takes for the little animation to spin off and show off all the stuff that got unlocked by doing XYZ in an online match. Fatalities and fatal blows are already avoided because of the time it takes, if there are constantly these pop ups showing unlocks (that would error out if not connected online or something), that might be enough of a reason.

Beyond that, though, there's major problems in Kombat League relating to: not being able to decline poor connections/wifi, not getting wins for some types of disconnections, etc.

I thought they fixed the disconnection issue resulting in not getting a win in the latest update?

I wish they had some way to incorporate MK2 and MK3 voice announcers
It's been a waste of time since release day. Same with Fatal Blows.I want a toggle to disable your AI doing fatalities. Most of the stuff is in towers now, and once you get to a certain point it's just a waste of time.

Yeah. I'm all for having a toggle for fatalities in the AI behavior menu.True, but that's part of the actual match gameplay, so they can never have a toggle to disable the AI from doing them unlike post-match stuff.
They could realistically let you opt out of the AI doing fatalities.
This would be a good QOL change yeah.I want a toggle to disable your AI doing fatalities. Most of the stuff is in towers now, and once you get to a certain point it's just a waste of time.
