That was glorious. He makes an alarming amount of sense and presents it in a very humorous way!

It's one of those all time fictional character designs that is both malleable yet instantly recognizable and iconic. Generally speaking I think the character design/art style of Sonic works well in that it's unmistake for anything else, yet lends itself to a good amount of variety and unique silhouettes.
Will watch soon.

Easily one of the greatest character designs of all time and still relevant today despite Sega's best efforts over the past couple of decades.
Millions disagree which is why it's a good design. The video is spot on.
It was bad for a while during the Sonic 4/Heroes/06 era, but Sonic's design has been great for a decade at this point.

The Boom series was just a side series that is done, you won't see that Sonic again.
Shortly after the release of Sonic The Hedgehog, a slew of platformers starring characters that were either blue* or wore blue were released.
For awhile, I thought they were merely trying to cash in on Sonic's popularity, but that turned out to be a half-truth.
As it turns out, blue is an AMAZING color for a protagonist, particularly a fast-moving one. No matter the environment, blue will always stand out, giving players something that their eyes can easily track.

As somebody who just watched the New Frame Plus video about Sonic game animation, Sonic and the larger cast's design is a mess in 3D and makes actually animating them difficult. In stills and 2D, Sonic is great. But getting him to look right in 3D seems incredibly hard cause Sonic Team continue to bungle it. Sonic Boom redesigns are divisive, but at least they look good in motion and emote better than the "regular" 3D Sonic.

Almost indistinguishable.
That ugly cameltoe eyebrow that doesn't read well, the flat white of the eyes that also just doesn't look right, the pasted on mouth piece. This is all aside from the bad boom choices.
Modern sonic looked better on Dreamcast. They just don't seem to be able to make it work lately.
Mania on the other hand, is the ageless iconic design that this abomination is trying to be.
Still, that's from a spin-off series that has since faded away.
This is the Modern Sonic that's being used most often.
