I mean the constant talk about waifus and super sexual fan art. It's not unexpected, but I'm like c'mon, these are kids and the story as fantastical as it makes it clear they are kids.
Ah gotcha, I hope they're aging them up in fan art at least.....
since you said take it too far, then what wouldn't be taking it too far then?

It's just personal preference cause I get that the female characters aren't on the level of the male characters but most of the discussion about them outside of being attractive/waifus would be great. It gets Mineta level with people sometimes. Like you can admire an attractive character without being gross.

I gotcha, looks like those guys don't understand why Mineta is hated and I see what you mean. But if you've read the manga, Uraraka does become an MVP
, lmao, reminds me that a friend of mine who is around my age, 20 said that if he finds them attractive, he's going to think of them as 18 but he said not anything NSFW, so I guess admire like you said

I think it's absurd.

Now the mangaka behind Made in Abyss? I'd believe that in a heartbeat.

Figured as much. Hopefully the Gentle arc is covered, but the pacing would have to be god awful for it not to be.

So I'm guessing S5 would be Pro Hero, 1A vs 1B, and the current Villain arc.
Off topic but related. So some friends of mine said while they think lolicon is creepy and weird, they don't think it should be banned cuz it's just drawing or that most pedos feel ashamed, so it's a way for them to express their desires or something. I don't agree with this at all and was wondering, what is a good response to this?

Change of plans Tace I'm watching in 40 minutes. I will be doing so with a heavy conscience though, since I was supposed to watch it with my brother this weekend... but I just really wanna watch it already and I wanna avoid spoilers, lol.

That sounds pretty sketchy, to be honest.

Remind them that sexualizing children and being attracted to them is fucked up and that's what lolicon is. A crude response but it's abhorrent that they think it shouldn't be banned so if I were in your place I'd say something like that. You can liken it to objectifying a female character or artwork. It's degrading to women and awful because despite being an artwork and not an actual person, it's still the image of one, i.e. the idea of a person, simply depicted in a different medium.

Can you elaborate? He's not a perv or something like that, I know him well and am certain he doesn't like get off to like pics in the show and he has a gf our age not to mention he agrees with me on my stance of loli being banned. When he said that, I think what he meant was he can simply acknowledge that x is good looking or something, not draw porn of it or like jerk off to like the hot springs scene

And good response to the loli stuff. If it comes up again, I'll try using that. Though they agreed loli is fucked up

Anime watcher only here. I have a stupid/pointless question to ask. Would you consider MHA as having a hard magic system of a soft magic system? Each individual quirk user sort of has their own "hard magic system", but in terms of the phenomenon that started this quirk revolution, that seems like a soft element? It's basically unexplained why it happens, it just happens. It's linked to genetics, but we don't really know how these genes just entered the pool in the first place, it was a mystical sort of thing that just happened. (You might be able to say evolution but, it's clearly not natural? I believe they even drop the term supernatural?)

In comparison I think Naruto and Hunter x Hunter might have harder magic systems in concept? At least in terms of the explanation of chakra and nen being this life force that we presumably know has been governing life in the universe from the beginning. So you could infer that people and animals have been evolving with it from the start. As far as I know with HxH, it could have been some magical space wizard who came down to earth and just casted some magic on humanity.

Also I may be getting my Naruto lore messed up, as I think kaguya might be some link to how humanity started getting chakra? But doesn't all life have some chakra anyway? Idk

Anyway I doubt anyone of you busters expected to see this shit question today.

The thing that gets me, a Minetta that simply kept his hands to himself and didn't say his worst thoughts out loud would be well more liked. He had several moments in season 3 that I liked because they weren't at anyone's expense, but he was still being a perv.

Something as simple as this.

All it would take is a pair of scissors to make him a better character. Cut that. Keep that. Cut that. Cut that. Definitely cut that. Keep that.

The bit where he was rushing to clean up their stage show so he can get good seats to the beauty contest. Simple. We get the joke. At no one's expense. And even if you didn't care for that, still no harm done.

I wanna say Hard Magic because most of how their quirks work is known to us, despite not knowing the exact catalyst for the appearance of Quirks.

It's fustrating because he does have his funny moments, especially in season 3 (the hiarchys collapsing! slays me every time) and it does appear that Hori is somewhat receptive to the feedback of him judging by the end of the JT arc, but yeah you just wish there was someone (either of one Hori's editors or a director at bones) who has the common sense to say 'hey maybe we should stop doing this pervy bullshit for once.

LMAO. That GIF.

Anyway... BRUH. Far From Home. Holy shit. Into the Spider-Verse is still my favorite Spider-Man movie but this comes really close.

The Mysterio illusion sequence at the warehouse (?), man. Holy fucking shit that was insane. Looked straight out of a comic book. Just wow. And the one towards the end in the bridge passage hallway place thing? Spider-Sense, baby! Fuck yeah! God, that was so good. Especially the last part where he dodges the bullet from point blank and tells Mysterio he can't hurt him anymore. Which, now that I think about it, was probably a very specific line since Mysterio clearly was able to still hurt him given the mid-credits scene. Oof. Never mind, I remembered wrong. The line was "You can't trick me anymore."

Oh, and I love that Mysterio was actually just in a mo-cap suit the whole time, lmao. That was genius.

I'm kinda surprised Tony would give Peter something as powerful as E.D.I.T.H. without any "Training Wheels Protocol" or something similar given how powerful it is, but... I'm gonna focus on the touching fact that Tony left him something. The Tony stuff wasn't nearly as heavy as I expected though, but it's still powerful. The suit-weaving machine though!!! I couldn't see most of the little holograms but I'm pretty damn sure I saw the Spider-Armor Mk. IV (the bullet-proof one) there. More importantly though, Peter looking like a mini Tony Stark during the whole thing especially when he put on the hologram gauntlet and then Happy played some Led Zeppelin music! *cries in I love you 3000*

Peter and MJ are so damn cute, definitely my favorite Spider-Man couple on the big screen. Sorry Gwen. I was so excited and happy throughout the film when they were being awkward around each other, especially MJ at the opera house and afterwards when Peter got back from fighting the fire elemental. So cute. Oh! Speaking of MJ, I've got a feeling they're going with the Marvel's Spider-Man direction here and have her become a journalist. No way that line about wanting the truth isn't going in that direction.

SPEAKING OF WHICH HOLY SHIT J.K. SIMMONS IS BACK AS JJJ!!! What a shocking mid-credits scene that was... It's gonna be awful waiting for presumably at least two years before we see what happens next. Oh boy. I'm so curious as to how this will turn out though! What do you think's gonna happen?

Anyway, where would you rank this among all the Spider-Man films?

Lotus caliph95 You guys watch yet?

The Mysterio illusion sequences were an amazing highlight to some overall excellent action scenes! I loved just watching Pete swing through the rubble all stylishly during the fight with Hydro Man, to say nothing of him going full OP with Spider-Sense at the end. My only real complaint towards Homecoming was that the action could've been better, and they rectified that here.

I want to say that Tony values Peter a lot more than he let on, and figures Peter would be responsible with E.D.I.T.H....though Tony does make some hasty decisions sometimes lol. Peter almost blowing up a bus full of kids isn't something you can foresee though lol. I loved that moment with Peter and Happy on the plane. Happy watching him and being reminded of Tony gave me all of the feels.

Yeah, I need to see the movie again to catch all the suits. I swear I saw the Symbiote suit, but my eyes have to be playing tricks on me. Agreed about MJ, easily the best love interest in any MCU film period. Can't wait to see their relationship develop. While I wouldn't mind if she started working at the Bugle, I hope Peter's personal relationship with JJJ is preserved.

Speaking of, pretty sure I died and went to Heaven when J.K. Simmons came back as Jonah. I was so very incredibly pleased. :)

I had a lot of thoughts on the movie, so I'm gonna cross post what I wrote in the spoiler thread. At the end is where I think Spider-Man 3 could go:
Just got home. Man, what a film. Need to see it a couple more times, but I think it passed Spider-Man 2 for me.

Narrative
I felt like the film's plot was very consistent and interesting all the way through. You have Peter dealing with the death of Tony Stark and the need to step into his shoes. You also have Peter wanting to be a normal teen with a normal life. In true Spider-Man fashion, Peter is constantly juggling between his two lives this film, and I loved it. It's similar to Raimi's Spider-Man 2 that way, but has a richer variety imo. The first half of the movie is very light and breezy and while it keeps a more optimistic tone throughout it raises the stakes considerably once Mysterio has his turn. The second half is where the film really shines, and I really enjoyed Peter having to struggle against Mysterio after he learned the truth. The JJJ reveal was perfection. I freaked out soooo hard. Already have a good theory on where 3, will go, but more on that later. Also loved that the MCU Spidey now has his swinging through Manhattan moment.

Characters
All of the characters were fantastic, Tom Holland as Peter especially. He has such range and really sold Peter's struggles on this film. He does it so effortlessly but we really need to appreciate how good he is as Spider-Man and Peter. MJ was next level in this film, easily the best love interest of any MCU film and I love how they are developing their relationship, Mysterio was everything I wanted and more. It was so obvious he was gonna be a bad guy, but I still fell bad for all the suckers who took the trailers at face value. His turn was perfect, and while making him a former Stark Employee is new, his over the top nature and movie like show man ship was very much keeping in line with the comics. Ned and Betty were great in this, loved their summer romance and them dating is comic accurate too. Happy was the best he's ever been in this film. The advice he gave to Peter was Uncle Ben tier. I do hope him and Aunt May stick around.

Action
I think this is the best action in a Spider-Man movie yet. I saw someone complain the action was bad and that's a hard disagree from me. From the moment Peter and Mysterio fought Hydro Man I was impressed. Peter web slinging through the rubble during that fight was awesome, particularly that backwards maneuver he did through the window.

The molten man fight was just as good, but the illusion scene was on a whole nother level. The zombie Iron Man, the multiple Spider-Men, tossing MJ off the bridge, the Nick Fury fake out, magnificent.

My only complaint is that I wish they had spent a little more time on the blip and Pete/Aunt May's relationship after she find out, but those are small squabbles. Highly recommend

What's next?
With Mysterio setting Peter up, I definetly think we get the Sinister Six next movie. I'm not exactly sure what the complete line up will look like, but enough of his enemies are in the mix now. I don't think Peter will stay exposed, by the end of the 3rd movie they'll prove Mysterio doctored the video and Peter will be cleared. The comics have played with the idea of Peter's identity being exposed before too. They'll have fun with it but I don't expect it to be permanent. I think certain ramifications from his identity being unmasked will remain(JJJ hating him, the Sinister Six forming) but not all.

I thought Fury and Hill being Skrulls were a nice touch, looks like the real Fury is making the S.W.O.R.D. Base.

I'm so excited for the future of the MCU. Hope that JJJ cameo was a sign of more to come

I will add to this that I think Norman would be the perfect villain to come in and lead the Sinister Six. Traditionally it's been Ock but there's a lot you can set up with Norman, especially if he convinces the public he's a hero for hunting Spider-Man. Easy way to give him enough clout to assemble the Dark Avengers.

I also hope Peter shows up in other movies or we somehow get updates. I don't want to wait two years lol
I need to see it again, but it's tied with Spider-Verse for me. Spider-Man 2 is slightly ahead of both, but I really need to think on it. All three movies are doing very different things.
Lotus I can't wait for you to see it, bro. I think you'll get a real kick out of it. MJ too good in this

So uh, apparently the movie is likely gonna use something Hori was keeping for the ending of the manga, and he doesn't see a 3rs movie happening. I dunno how the hell those two points even make sense, considering the manga keeps growing in scope. We are either gonna get a timeskip in the movie which will foreshadow the manga timeskip or the intended ending will be redone.

Please don't forget that magazine scans are prohibited.

Reminder aside, the key visual's tagline is 次は、君たちは (tsugi wa, kimitachi wa) which I would translate to something like "Next, the two of you." This is obviously referring to Bakugo and Deku, so I guess the film will have a heavy focus on the Wonder Duo being All Might's successors. Pretty cool.

Horikoshi's comments on the movie mention using something he had planned for the ending of the story. He talked about finding something to top Deku and All Might's team-up attack from Two Heroes, so I expect this "something" to be Bakugo and Deku teaming up for a glorious duo move given the tagline and whatnot.
Not yet hopefully tomorrow or this weekend
Dang! Hope you can see it ASAP.

Can't believe they are going to drop the Deku passing OfA to Bakugo reveal in a movie.

I would guess they are talking about some ideas/fight choreography for a Bakugo/Deku team up or something that will be used.

Oh man, if we get the full Shigaraki backstory next chapter I am gonna freak. His mother also looks like Nana doesn't she? Re-Destro VS Gigantomachia is gonna be one hell of a fight, and a powered up Shigaraki alongside the beast is gonna be so fun to see.

You know, with all the spiderman nods and references, I wonder if there is gonna be a Symbiote style arc for Deku. Like some kind of sentient Quirk that enhances OfA but eventually turns dark, perhaps even jumping to Bakugo. I mean just thinking about it, it would be an awesome twist. Bakugo already is an Anti-Hero, so a venom style symbiotic quirk that gifts him some of OfA would be ana amazing way to have him and Deku as the new All Mights.
