The Good Place and Infinity Train episodes were good. With Infinity Train, there was a lot of great freaky imagery and an exploration of the plight of train denizens who want to leave. We also got to see that One-One isn't necessarily your friend. I did think the ending was a bit of a cop out, but there is precedence of the Train being able to influence the "real world". This led to a discussion about what the nature of reflections are in this universe.

Revue Starlight continues to have alright fight scenes, but the school parts are a real slog. I asked about it in the anime community thread, but no response.

Infinity Train will probably be swapped out for Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.

I thought Worlds Collide was good, but I haven't read the second crossover that involved more properties. This is only two properties, so I think it'll be fine.

Collide was a story he wanted to do, but outside of Eggman and Wily's scenes, the last act is the only part that's really solid, I feel.

Unite was something Sega and Capcom asked for and seems like it was rushed into production, and the whole thing wound up being a clusterfuck of too many characters and endless cameos for the plot to breathe.

Looking at the preview more closely, though, this looks to be more of an anthology than a single grand epic, and there's two other guys on it anyway. Probably fine, yeah.

When the spirit of the Tree of Harmony contacts the Student Six in their dreams and they learn about the Tree's death, they try to work out the best way to memorialize it.

904. Sparkle's Seven (Mane Six, Spike, Celestia, Luna)
Shining Armor dares Twilight to break through his new security at Canterlot Castle, and with a childhood prize on the line, she turns to her friends for the heist. The story of this special 200th episode (including Best Gift Ever) came from the lead voice actors: Tara Strong, Tabitha St. Germain, Ashleigh Ball, Andrea Libman, and Cathy Weseluck.

905. The Point of No Return (Twilight Sparkle, Spike)

The school is having a traditional pony dance, and feeling pressured to act more pony-like, Yona turns to Rarity for a makeover.

Angered by their bickering, Grogar sends the other villains on a mission together. To their horror, this might result in them becoming friends.
909. Sweet and Smoky (Fluttershy, Spike, Smolder, Ember)
Fluttershy and Spike tag along when Smolder visits home to cheer up her sensitive brother, and discover a problem with the dragon eggs there.

910. Going to Seed (Apple Family)
Applejack is upset that Apple Bloom would waste time trying to capture the legendary Great Seedling instead of helping with the harvest.

911. Student Counsel (Starlight Glimmer, Trixie, Silverstream, Maud Pie)
With school going on break, Starlight is flooded with last minute counseling sessions with students and Trixie is upset she isn't spending time with her. But when Trixie pulls her away from her job, Silverstream goes missing.

912. The Last Crusade (Cutie Mark Crusaders)
Scootaloo's parents return from a long journey, but her joy turns to sorrow when they want to take her away from Ponyville for their next job.

Celestia and Luna go on a vacation but end up on each other's nerves. Meanwhile Twilight and the others try to prepare for a ceremony in their stead.

Twilight is driven to win Granny Smith's trivia contest for the third time in a row, but those hopes may be dashed when Pinkie is put on her team.

The final Summer Sun Celebration is coming up. While Twilight makes sure it's an event to remember, the villains search Canterlot for a way to defeat Grogar, causing trouble as they go.

After seeing Angel act up while Fluttershy ignores him, Zecora gives them a potion to exchange bodies and better understand each other.

Rarity has gotten so used to Spike being around for her daily routine that when he starts spending time with Gabby (see The Fault in Our Cutie Marks) and ignoring her, she becomes jealous.

Now that she's in charge of the School of Friendship, Starlight searches for a vice-headmare, but Trixie assumes nepotism win her the position without trying.

921. Daring Doubt (Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Daring Do)
Daring Do's rival, Dr. Cabelleron, has published his own version of her adventures, recasting himself as the hero. Fluttershy goes on an adventure with him to learn the truth.

Unable to find a chaperone for a trip and told they're too young to go on their own, the Cutie Mark Crusaders accidentally wish upon a magic flower and become adults.

Big Mac is ready to propose to Sugar Belle, but Discord finds his plans boring and adds his own flourishes. This is the final normal episode.

Not too many people were in this stream.

This is the last remaining FiM episode we haven't streamed. It's a fine episode, with the Rockhoof story being the weak link, and the other two stories being pretty interesting. I forgot about the Mistmane fight; she doesn't exactly use her skills in later appearances. Flyders are still terrifying. I also forgot about the references to "Sleepless in Ponyville".

The Tangled episode was fun.

She-Ra had shit go down, with a betrayalthon and I suppose everyone dying in the end. It was pretty good.

With Sailor Moon, we're first introduced to Makoto / Sailor Jupiter, who is pretty badass and manages to get first blood against Zoicite, one of the Four Kings of Heaven, without her Sailor Guardian form. However, we've reached the point where Sailor Moon is the only one allowed to finish off the monster, which will end up making battles much more repetitive than they already were. Also, the music for Moon Healing Escalation isn't nearly as good as the Moon Tiara Action theme. These episodes also introduce the strongest ancient monsters... the first of whom has an arcade them, and the second is an angel boxer named Boxy. It's weird.

Glad to see this finally complete. I was present for the beginning and end of the recording, but my listening/reading today is my first time experiencing the middle. I loved the premise ever since you first posted the outline, and you turned it into a joyous story with tons of great characterization and memorable moments. And even then, you saved the best line for last. Plus, among a ton of fluff, you included things like Twilight seriously discussing her concerns with Rarity.

You've talked about making your exit from Pony Fics before, and I think this is absolutely a capstone for your (somewhat) standalone RariTwi lovey dovey stories.

I wasn't a huge fan of this part of The Good Place, and the early bits of season 3, but it seemed to go over well enough in the stream.

We started Kipo, and people like the show already.

With Revue Starlight, however, this proved to be the tipping point and we dropped it. The school parts really assumed the viewers would be able to remember the relationships of all the characters, and there was a bit where a character was tied up and held in a storage room, and none of us even realized it was the main character until she escaped! It's a shame, I do like the entire stage theme with the fights, but the story around it is so boring and hard to follow.

This was a fantastically written story. The details of Sweetie's thoughts and how the other two mares acted throughout felt true to life, and the imagery was very well done. Despite the grim subject matter, things end on a hopeful note for Sweetie's recovery, which is good to see.

That was pretty good. It was interesting piecing together when this took place and what Tempest and Brine's relationship is. Nice detail that Tempest brought up Hearth's Warming but failed to realize that was why the pirates were celebrating. Snails' presence and the fact that the crew was Apples felt odd, though.

This was a fantastic start to this AU. I could visualize the setting clearly, and just how the Equestrian society works (except perhaps how they first got material for their ships). I admit, I was wondering if the pony part would be that relevant as the story went through its first half, but you did a great job reimagining Shining, Cadance, and Twilight for this world, and we saw the beginnings of how Rarity would interact with them. It'd be a shame if this was all we saw.

"Fall Weather Friends" is still a fun episode, with a lot of good gags. I keep forgetting Celestia randomly shows up at the end. This time, I noticed that Twilight saying she only got fifth place is oddly disconnected from the rest of the scene. It's a separate shot and none of the characters acknowledge her saying this. I wonder if Twilight originally did just get first place (hence the medal being gold).

Tangled was good, and had good moles.

She-Ra featured a Doctor Who Moffat season finale style story of reality falling apart and Adora having to fix it, with things falling into the vortex being forgotten by everyone. Though it was interesting, it also felt kind of arbitrary what Adora had to do. In the end, Glimmer's mom sacrifices herself, which felt a bit off when I didn't feel she and Adora had that strong a connection.

Sailor Moon's first episode was alright, though it was nice to see an Ami focus episode. The second episode, however, was a lot of fun, with some great exaggerated reactions and dumb lovestruck teens. I'm glad I didn't end up skipping this.

The first Sailor Says had an odd amount of silence. I suppose "school is good" is a statement that can stand on its own.

We only have 13 episodes of She-Ra left, and 3 of Tangled left, so the plan is to drop down to one She-Ra and add back in a FiM. Tangled will be swapped out for The Owl House, and for She-Ra, we'll figure it out later.

Finally got around to reading this. I was expecting Diamond Tiara to think Celestia doesn't exist in any form, rather than what she did think, but it's fun seeing Celestia get caught up in her meandering and inconsistent argument.

Only real complaint is that having three newlines between each paragraph was pretty distracting, especially since it's inconsistent.

Rechecked the Utena cow episode, and it should be fine as a standalone, but I'm also not sure I want it to be peoples' first Utena episode, lol. Eh, I'll go ahead with it.

Despite the length, this ended up being a fairly quick read for me. I think a big part of that is the short chapters making sure the story never lingers on one scene for too long. There are admittedly some chapters that seemed to just end, but the short vignette style was ultimately to the benefit of the story, showcasing many facets of how Rarity handled her loss.

One complaint I do have is that the characters sometimes felt a bit odd. Characters launched into physical altercations with not much prompting. Rarity's friends came off as somewhat uncaring, with how they didn't put in as much effort to help her as Sweetie's friends, but there is an implied distance between them now that they're no longer in school together. Rarity and Sweetie's parents seemed bizarrely flippant, but we are seeing things through Rarity's eyes, after all. However, I think you did a great job presenting Rarity, along with Sweetie Belle in flashbacks and via the module.

Ultimately, while I can't say I enjoyed the story as much as those who commented above, don't take that to mean I don't find this to be a fantasticly written fic. Great job.

Reading this after the end of season 2, it's interesting that you got a cat in this story too. It would have been interesting to see how much this and the show proper diverged and linked up, but alas. One big difference is that your fic focused more on the puzzles than the show did, and of course it would have been hard to pick up on the number being based on personal problems just based on the pilot.

What's there is pretty fun, and I can't imagine this will be continued, so it's mainly a nice look at what people were predicting for Infinity Train before the show proper started.

Pretty good job on this so far. You're doing well depicting Twilight's Legend of Everfree conflict in the context of Infinity Train, and have some fun original cars. Your One-One lines are good, too. If I have one suggestion, it's to work on writing in body language and facial expressions. This will let you show character emotions and thoughts without having to outright spell them out.

People continued enjoying Kipo.

For Utena, we only had one other person who had watched it before, so we got a lot of "wait wut"s. It's still a fun episode.

Sonic the Hedgehog: the Movie was a big nostalgia bomb for me, and people who hadn't seen it before enjoyed it. Now, it's easy to see just how 90's it is, even down to the sound effects. Sara is a weird inclusion that sticks out even more now than back then, with her constant screaming and everyone being attracted to her. The Sonic and Metal Sonic (excuse me, Hyper Metal Sonic) fights and other action sequences are still hype, though I notice now that Metal's coloring feels different in several scenes, like he's computer generated. Voices are still bad, but you oddly get used to them quickly. I still don't know what's up with Knuckles' hat.

I decided to show the OK KO / Sonic crossover episode after, since it has a fair amount of references to the anime, and it's a lot of fun.

This was great! There's an odd tragedy to the fact that Rarity and Sunset were incapable of reaching a big dramatic end to their marriage, since both of their lives were taking them elsewhere and they knew that. You did a great job showing how they could still be on friendly terms, while making clear their relationship wasn't working. Just from that one card, I also feel bad for Sunset's students, but it makes perfect sense that she wouldn't be satisfied just being a human school teacher. Right on the other side of the portal awaits a world where she can be important on a global scale. Rarity was also fantastically written. Plus, you had a well done bittersweet ending.

Boast Busters is still fun, despite its story problems. I keep forgetting how Twilight too sounded different in early season one.

The Tangled episode was fine.

The She-Ra episodes were fun, and finally featured the other princesses again. Catra really does have some intense plot armor, though.

The first Sailor Moon episode was alright, though it was nice to get some more Rei focus. The second episode had cats and rats, so it was good.

The first Sailor Says was alright, but the second told kids to spay and neuter their cats, so that's good.

This is a Sunset X Shining X Cadance poly story.

Spoiler

Good job with this story! Sunset and Shining's connection developed in a realistic way, and there was a lot of good dialogue. Of the two endings, I prefer the poly end, since it better pays off what was being set up and pony cuddling is good, but there were nice moments unique to the friendship end.

The story could have used an editing pass, however (now mostly fixed), and some aspects of the story felt off. First there's the entire thing with Shining Armor hiding Cadance's name in an unnatural way, which Sunset never picked up on. Then there's Sunset not realizing Shining Armor and Cadance were married and Cadance was ruling the Crystal Empire, despite being friends with Flurry Heart. Shining tricking Sunset into meeting Cadance also didn't seem right; I would have preferred Sunset having some choice in the matter. Shining talking Sunset into meeting with Cadance also would have helped emphasize their relationship, which largely got downplayed in the third chapter.

Despite these flaws, I think you did a great job making this relationship work.

This is an interesting start to the journey. Sunset already knowing Celestia wants her to face Nightmare Moon, and incorporating her tendency to break into libraries, were good touches. I liked how you handled the flashbacks, and you did well characterizing everyone in this short story. At this point, it's still hard to tell what the real differences will be between how Sunset and Twilight handle things, but hopefully we'll see.

This is interesting. To be blunt i'm not deep in the fandom, what drew me in was lauren faust thought the show was ok and i'm kinda interested in entertainment in general and the show caused huge changes at hasbro so i'm interested in where it goes. I'm beyond surface levels, but i'm not really a super fan. So I have kind of missed this evolution whole sale.

I'm kinda interested in how a company like hasbro even deals with this? Presumably it would be and is going to be the shows in future continue to get more and more socially conscious focusing on women. And the guys porporting this weird ass mysogonists alt right ideologically, will slowly get pushed the fuck out because they will have isolated themselves because all the socially consious people don't get into the fandom anymore and the main content is not reflective of anything they enjoy and is actively saying they suck. This isn't to say people like this haven't ignored greater context before to persist, but they usually need...battles to fight. And if the battle is , fighting the IP itself, they will loose.

But Like hasbro has to be aware of that right like " Hey the all the cool people left the adult fanbase and there are just a bunch of nazi's now. And are trying to use our property to create nazi's ... that's bad"

I was going to complain about how it characterized things, but I realized I was going in a "not all bronies" direction, and I never identified as a brony in the first place for the reasons brought up. The places I experienced the MLP fandom largely avoid the problems mentioned there, though even then, the creator of Molestia used to be a frequent poster in the GAF threads before I joined.

That post brings up MLP forums not doing enough to handle alt-righters, though I think it should be noted that no forum seems to have avoided this. The closest major place is ResetEra, and it still struggles with progressivism. Central hubs for fandoms in general seem to be a thing of the past, too.

A related thing I noticed is how the MLP fandom has a real problem bringing in new blood, at least to the traditional hubs. Equestria Daily had a poll with frankly worrying results.

A plurality over 30 doesn't seem right for a fairly recent fandom.

That said, I've pointed out in the past how YouTube views and toy sales are a likely better metric for non-brony fan engagement, and those are obviously doing fine, given Hasbro's continued investments there.

Now AnonTheAnon, who started this whole discussion, does appear to have watched season 8, since he prominently features Chancellor Neighsay in some animations, but he also seems to deliberately not acknowledge what his actual role in the show is. Which is to say, a racist that learns his mistake.

I don't expect Pony Life to be too socially conscious, but I hope G5 is.

This isn't like comic book or starwars where the main audience is of all ages including material for adults and you kind of have to deal with them to enjoy the material and they are combatted. This isn't a situation where the material has produced so much of a diverse fanbase that people trying to invade kind of just leave or remain in small weird corners like some franchises.

This seems like a situation where the primary audience is children. And the material I think is going to be actively less and less for them. And eventually they are gonna infight themselves to destruction or a bunch are going to leave realizing this and some of them might actually realize how embarrassing this all is.

This isn't a good outcome they seemingly have destroyed a fandom , but we are at the point where they will destroy themselves. IMO anyway

After all, Steven Universe didn't start that long after FiM in the grand scheme of things, yet the attempt to make a centralized fan site for it completely flopped, despite the show's obvious success. Is there anything in the last five years where you could safely say 4chan plays a significant role in its fandom?

In the conflict between alt-righters and nice people, I don't see it resulting in the fandom as a whole being destroyed. I expect the alt-righters to be increasingly irrelevant as they run out of people who would go to imageboards.

Is there anything in the last five years where you could safely say 4chan plays a significant role in its fandom?

In the conflict between alt-righters and nice people, I don't see it resulting in the fandom as a whole being destroyed. I expect the alt-righters to be increasingly irrelevant as they run out of people who would go to imageboards.

If G5 sees success, I can't imagine it will be by the hands of 4chan this time.

Destorying themselves is what they do, its an ideology built on trying to fight a persevered wrong and no one is trying to fight them because there is nothing worth fighting for in this instance. And you are right series fandoms have been largely decentralized and I think that's kind of a really good thing. It doesn't mean all issues are solved that doesn't solve say just the rampant racism and various phobia's that will just exist in fanbases because those are larger sociatal issues. But it will be a lot easier to see nazi's coming.

Friendship is Magic #87
We start the final comic story before season 10 starts, with this two-parter about Big Mac and Rainbow in a cross-country race. I wasn't excited by this, but the issue manages to introduce some interest with a Great Chipmunk Adventure type plot where Equestria's third Belloq uses the race the get a stolen artifact across the border, mistakenly placing it in Rainbow's gear.

The central focus of the issue is a glimpse at Big Mac's past, where he used to be a racer and had a childhood friend turned rival. I admit, I never really thought there was much in Big Mac's past to be explored, but I'm not opposed to it. Also, Spike and Yona are here, and the villain has a gremlin assistant. Haven't seen a gremlin in the comics for a while.

This issue was mainly set up, so I don't have any strong opinions about it. It was alright.

Silver Quill's review reminds me that the sequence of Spike interpreting Big Mac's body language into a full on story was fun. I liked that it followed up on Spike and Big Mac's growing connection from the show, even if Big Mac was unusually even more silent than usual.

Silver Quill also points out that right now, Rainbow Dash seems superfluous to the story.

In terms of sound, Cheese's Japanese VA isn't bad. Singing could use work, though.



OK, they changed Discord's Japanese VA too. It used to be the guy that played Buggy the Clown among tons of other roles. He had the perfect Japanese VA before, but the new guy sucks.



The first notes are the same as in English here, which is weird. Flutterguy's voice isn't great, and again a change from her season 1 dub voice (though her previous Flutterguy Japanese VA died I think so...). Her normal singing voice at the end is a breath of fresh air, autotuned as it is.

This was an intriguing look at a world where Celestia turns people who bring her desserts into her personal students.

To be serious, you did a great job with descriptions, including Celestia's songs, and had lots of interesting dialogue. The realizations that Rarity's old flame was Trixie was a nice moment, with decreasingly subtle clues. Celestia as a wandering musician who gave up her crown is a great evocative image. Good job.

Read this after the ED showcase. This is a good exploration of how Fluttershy and Discord can view death and life. I admit the fact that the jar contained a marble for every mayfly that died took me out of the story a bit, since there were a lot of mayflies, but the meaning of that sequence came across well. Both characters were written well.

Only Princess Twilight and Principal Celestia can save the world, but it's really not their top priority.

This was a nice sweet story, and it's easy to forget the instigating factor is everything potentially going up in flames with its easygoing nature. Like a tortoise! Twilight's reaction to Principal Celestia is something I never considered, but it makes a ton of sense that she'd find it interesting, and feel so oddly about it. Great job.

I had a miss a big chunk of those The Good Place episodes, but I liked them well enough when I watched them, and people seemed to enjoy them.

The Kipo episode had cats, so it was good.

We started Harley Quinn with this stream. Much of the beginning of the episode was spent trying to prove that yes, this is R-rated, with tons of swearing and gore, to the point it was offputting. However, it calmed down and greatly improved in that regard as it went on. The episode seemed to go over well, so we'll continue this.

Not too many people this time.

The Good Place demonstrated how quickly it's willing to change its story direction. When I first watched these episodes, I thought for sure that Trevor would be a consistent threat throughout the season, but no, gone after one episode. And then there's the development at the end of the second episode. The comedy was good throughout, too.

Kipo had nice songs, some major story developments, and cats vs. rockin' snakes, making it a good episode.

The second Harley Quinn episode was much better than the first, now that it isn't so focused on hyperviolence. There were tons of good gags, and I liked how the characters were presented, including the super lame Kite Man.
