Change your PayPal password ASAP I'd say and contact customer service as soon as you can.

Once everything is sorted out, activate the 2 step verification feature immedaitely.

Change your pay-pal password and contact PlayStation support. My friends account got hackedrecently and he was able to get it back without much trouble. Then activate 2 step verification when you get your account back.
Do not charge back what they've spent.

No one "hacked" your PSN account. The email address used for your PSN account in combination with the password you used is known. You probably used that combination somewhere else and that info was stolen - or even worse: you used the same password to access the email address as a login password somewhere together with said email address.

NEVER USE THE SAME COMBINATION OF MAIL+PASSWORD TWICE!!!

Check https://haveibeenpwned.com/ with your mail address. You will see which website or game or service you use was breached to leak your password. Change all of them. If the mail address itself was compromised contact the mail provider RIGHT NOW.

...then contact PayPal first, Sony later.

Remove PSN from your active payments so they can't charge that anymore
Also, if you use the same password other places. Change those too.

Log into whatever bank/credit where the card is tied to and either freeze it or cancel. Or look on the back of the card for a number.

Unlink your PayPal from PSN in PayPal settings somewhere, changing password won't help as it isn't needed once linked to your PSN.

How are they even buying shit? When I log my PSN to a new device I am required to re-enter all my card details. It impossible to buy anything until I do. Plus I need enter expiry date and 3 digit security code for every purchase.
Been like this since at least 2011.

Banks have all cards urgency number to call.
I know and she's on some heavy sleeping meds and insist if we call to do a charge back and i can't deal with that. They've only done $75 so far (I'm checking the pending on the chase site) can't find a freeze button even though google says they are implementing one lol. That is the only method i have to go on since trying to reset my password doesn't send me an email anymore.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CHARGE BACK - you WILL lose your account. Just call the number on the back of the card and have them block the card.

Yea, OP a charge back will kill you more emotionally try to get ahold your account but stop your PayPal.

Don’t charge back on Sony or they’ll just tear down the house on you & the “hacker”

Take this time to go through all your other accounts and change the passwords on them. Especially if you have used the same password on multiple accounts.
Enable MFA to all accounts. Also start using password manager like Bitwarden or Lastpass.

Ok.. I'll take this as a reminder to turn on 2-SV.

I haven't put my credit card on anything tbh, too paranoid for some reason lol... I don't mind feeding the details manually.

I'm amazed that people are still running their PSN accounts without 2 step. You really should use it on any service that offers it like eBay, Amazon, PSN etc.

Damn, that's sad, really. I don't know how to help in this case but generally for the future look at every account that you have and enable 2fa. Everywhere. Amazon, PayPal, PSN and so on.

Never NEVER put your payment methods on PSN, buy prepaid cards, also, get 2 step authentication as soon as you get it back.

Hope everything goes well for you OP.

Call your bank and tell them the situation ask them to cancel the card. That way no further money can be taken from your account.

Thanks for reminding me to activate 2FA. Moved to a new country and had forgotten to re activate it with my new number.

Hello everyone! I was able to get ahold of support at a little after 10 (when they opened here) it was live chat as apparently phone is not available on Saturdays. Anyways i got my account back and provided as much info as i possibly could. Got the account back and actovated 2 factor! He told me he is escalting my case to their specialist team over the charges made on the account and they will have reach a decision within 5 business days (so end of next week). Thank you all so much for the help! I tried changing back my online id but i needed to talk to support. During our chat i broefly mentioned it but forgot to ask about reseting it and now when i try to chat again it doesn't let me. So i guess I'm fixated-soprano for the time being. Maybe this is actually something askplaystation on twitter could help with? Anyways thanks again guys!

So has anyone been banned while they do an investigation? The guy i talked to Friday said it would take up to 5 business days of him handing it off to the specialists team and tonight i was banned i got ahold of someone ASAP tonight and this is what i was told

SORRY IF I'M N9T SUPPOSE TO POST I JIST NEED INSIGHT please taking out names to make sure there is no issues.

-Sony Support Employee- (11/11/2019, 9:22:33 PM): ------ didn't just report the $0.00 for the change of the online ID but all the amounts in questions that were spent without your authorization, the reason why you've received the banned is because we really worry about your information your money. We're getting you back the $75.00 that were spent without your permission, we will remove the sub accounts that were added and will be providing you with an email including the details of the outcome.
Me (11/11/2019, 9:23:13 PM): so my account is only banned until then????
Me (11/11/2019, 9:23:20 PM): please tell me i get it back
-Sony Support Employee- (11/11/2019, 9:24:28 PM): The whole case will be handle by a specialist, we really care about you, and like I said, I have no words to thank you for being such a loyal customer for so many years. Now, since it was 5 business days since the first notice, it will by resolve by Friday, tops. It could be even before. And of course! You will get your account back. All I need from your is your patience, I will leave a note about your contact today.

So what is the likelyhood of me getting it back? After all the horror stories I just worry.

Just curious btw, what information did you provide them in order to get your account back the first time. Just wondering things I should keep a lookout for.

I literally gave them the serials of my PS3, PS4 and wallet fund codes I DID use within the last month, games i purchased recently and the first 4 and last 4 of the card used, phone number thr guy tonight even said he's sure it is me because only the owner would be this comcerned.

I also activated 2 factor during the live chat with the first person and have not touched any "payment methods" or redeemed anything since just to make sure this investigation went smoothly.. i got an email tonight telling me i got a $0 refund (for the free id change they used up) so i assume they did this to kickstart their investigation i didn't get an email i was banned my ps4 told me i was.

About that 2 step verification:
What if someone loses their 2 step verification phone or the phone breaks? Is the account then basically gone as well?

There is a loophole if you create a sub account and then buy from that sub account.

Known issue.

Well I'm finished if I ever lose my account because I don't know the serial of the first PS3 I set my account up on, although I think I created it online on a PC. I should definitely write down the serial number of my PS4 Pro since I've put so many hours into it. Thanks.

To get your phone number back you need to contact(go to a store) of your telecom and ask them for a replacement SIM card to put in a new phone.

Wasn't asked for the FIRST PS3 (i also think mine was on PC), during the first chat (where i got my account back) i gave them the one the account has been connected to for forever as I'm on my 3rd ps3. I took pictures and will be keeping them forever after this though too lol. When i got incontact a day and ahalf later for my account id to get changed back i was asked the serial of the console my PSN was first used/created on but i reiterated all this info to them and it was smooth sailing still. I'm just hoping this really is just for the investigation and I'm not banned banned. If i knew that for absolute fact i would not worry i know who's account it is lol.

No.If you somehow magically lose your phone. Then you got personal info, security questions they’d ask you and make sure to save the back up codes if you lost your two step verification access.

When you activate 2 step, they also send you 10 codes as well that can be used. I have them saved to my phone and in my email.

If your phone breaks, then you have enough codes to last you until you get a new phone.
