Yeah the new price for switch games at Walmart seems to be $50. At least at all the Walmarts I shop at. Guess they're trying to compete with online stores?

Physical is almost always cheaper than digital :)

Hell look on CEX website the next time a digital sale is on for old titles, the prices will shock you

Best Buy has been doing this for months seemingly. Most first party releases are less than $60 across the board.

Best Buy Switch Games On Sale - Nintendo-Published

Mario Kart 8 - $50
NSMBU Deluxe - $50
Pokemon Let's Go - $45
Super Mario Odyssey - $50
Splatoon 2 - $50
Octopath - $50
DKC Tropical Freeze - $50
Kirby - $50
Mario Tennis Aces - $50
Arms - $50
Pokken - $50

I bought Kirby a few weeks back and I might pick up Arms and Mario Tennis soon. Hard to beat $40 post-GCU.

I was there last night and saw the same thing; I just thought it was an error to be honest. I was particularly surprised to see DQB2 cause I know that game JUST came out.

Like MELLO considered, it may be going after the former Prime/GCU peeps, which certainly could work on me if it persist. I have GCU til November, so we'll see by then, but definitely something to consider.

It's under the masquerade of a 'sale', but yeah, the price for like BOTW and stuff has been perpetually at $49.94 for quite a while now.

Maybe Nintendo change it because they're making the Switch Lite? Buying a $60 only handheld game wouldn't sit right with some people?

Is it always 50$ even for new releases on day 1? Or is it like 60$ for a week then drops to 50$?

yeah it's the same for my small town walmart too. Though I still just stick to digital because switching game cards is so annoying to me

If news break that Nintendo is going Digital Only these games will fly of the shelves.

This is probably just Wal-Mart's answer to Amazon and digital platforms regarding video games.

As a physical buyer once I heard this it's the only place I'm picking games up from now on. Picking Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Fire Emblem this month from Walmart for sure.

I consider the $10 off an inconvenience reimbursement for having to deal with physical games. My laziness won't be swayed by $10 off new games.

When I first heard of this, I thought for sure it would be a regional thing and it wouldn't be happening here, but no even here in southern California it's a thing.

I see this for all games, regardless if they are Switch titles, at my local Walmart. Everything is at most $49.99. Minus special editions.

Wtf, I go to Walmart AT LEAST twice a week and never noticed this...

Maybe a store by store basis?

Damn looks like they are competing with Nintendo's $100 voucher for two games. And this is great if you don't have Best Buy GCU.

Come to think of it, Bloodstained for PS4 was $32 (20% off) like the day after launch when I went there and picked it up

Good to know. If this is still happening in mid-September and on through the holidays then my major gaming purchases for the semester will be almost 100% Walmart-sourced.

I feel like I saw accessories on 10 dollars cheaper also. The switch pro controller was 10 dollars cheaper when I bought SMM2.

Yeah I've been seeing this too. But its been going on at my nearest Walmart about 2 hours away for a few weeks already. I snagged BotW for around $46 but to be fair it is a small town so perhaps not many people arent buying switch games at that particular store so they are a couple dollars cheaper.

If they keep this up and the discount persists online I'll do all my (new) game shopping at walmart going forward. Unfortunately I don't have one nearby.
