Source film maker is available to the public and people have made tons of high quality videos using it.
Check out Agent Gunn, the orginal assets featured in the video are high enough quality that they could be TF2 Valve assets (pretty much everything is Valve quality aside from the animations not being as good as what Valve brings to the table):

If there had actually been characters in it I think it would have been much easier to tell because Valve has some of the best animators in the game business.

This is really neat, and amazing for what it is, but it's not nearly as good as the L4D video. Still not saying that it's real, but the video you posted is still awkwardly paced, weirdly framed, odd transitions, etc.

What do you think? If this is a real thing, Gabe told us: "Yeah yeah, Left 4 Dead sequel is coming" Nonsense. Of course he say FAKE.

I don't think Valve would string us along like this for Left 4 Dead 3 since it's been so long, that would be really tone deaf of them and I don't think they're THAT evil.

I believe no Valve leaks; I can't afford to be optimistic about them producing sequels to any of their catalog. And that said, the video doesn't look beyond the skills of the community.

But if this turns out to be real; I'd be very happy needless to say.

The fact that this is basically just panning through a single well-made scene doesn't give me confidence this is real. Check out the E3 trailer for L4D2 and compare it to this.

The first time I saw it, I thought the Left 4 Dead 2 reveal trailer was for some cheap L4D clone, but then the logo popped up at the end.

Not a bad trailer buts its most likely fake. The Back 4 Blood team at Turtle Rock probably shit their pants a bit when they saw this.

This is my most wanted game in history (L4D3) but I doubt it will ever release considering it "leaked" years ago and no news came out from that. This is probably fake. :(

Shocker, yet another supposed L4D tease turns out to be fake.

Valve's ambitions have grown beyond making a squad-based zombie shooter. While I'm personally unhappy with their choice, at the end of the day, if Valve wants to dedicate its time to furthering PC gaming and expanding the tools developers have at their disposal, then so be it.

My shitty analogy is as follows: imagine Massimo Bottura spent a year of his life perfecting the Hawaiian pizza. It might end up being the best fucking pizza you've ever eaten, but it's not compatible with what he wants to do with his time and talent. Does it suck that I will never get to eat the perfect pineapple pizza? Sure, but at the end of the day, Massimo's ambitions are far grander than one Internet nerd's desires.

The Pepsi can and other licensing guarantees it's fan made or a student project

He is already selling it for far cheaper than it would actually take him, and the chance of it actually selling is normally very low since there are thousands on thousands of competing assets. You make something without knowing if it will sell, so you price it attractively hoping people will pick it up and use it in their projects. Your thoughts on this are quite unsettling as a developer and artist. Artists need to make a living and artists making turbosquid models actually earn far less than what 3d modelers earn at a studio (and even their wages are typically quite low)

Pulled this one from a talk about the future of AI technologies being used in game development (note, those costs are mainly spread out over multiple artists on AAA games)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlgLxSLsYWQ (that slide is from 5:33 min in)

Making game ready 3d models is time consuming and labour intensive and companies pay the hour wages while freelancers and hobbyists have to rely on indivisual sales to make some money and its hard to survive doing that as an individual. They need to sell more and more since they also pay their own taxes on it, dont have healthcare via company etc. you are a business in a way and its not easy. So yeah that model should be more expensive but its already driven to the minimum.

I understand what you mean now. I was just thinking if a can of spraypaint in a game is $25 than to make a whole room filled with stuff (furniture, decorations, etc) would cost thousands potentially and it just didnt make sense to me. But I guess it doesnt really work that way i wasn't critizing the price, i was just surprised.

#TeamFake. I want a L4D3 so badly though, but I'm not falling for this.

Also thinking about this for a bit, Left 4 Dead, a franchise known for it's 4 player co-op, being the showpiece for a $1000 piece of hardware doesn't seem to add up?
