The only reason Kishi's should have given for Orochimaru still being around is that Orochimaru literally can't be killed by any conventional means, which he can't by the end of the series. That's it. Naruto and Sasuke keeping him around otherwise is grossly irresponsible. Konoha should have an entire team researching ways to kill the bastard for good. They are making the same mistake Hashirama did with Madara. If Hashirama didn't drag his feet around regarding Madara, much of the events in Naruto could have been avoided.

We already know he can't be because he keeps coming back.

I know, which should be the only excuse Kishi should have gave for Orochimaru still being alive in a prison call, not operation his own lab with Konaha's security and his own word being the reasons why he's free. At the very least he should be in a prison cell, if not sealed away.

I thought Orochimaru had to steal bodies to maintain being immortal, how is he "completely immortal"?

You need to watch more of Boruto

It proves peace is not possible, at least permanent peace

The last anime arc is a good example of it and what happens to a village after it went through a huge change that affected capabilities of the ninja world and how science in the end turned out for the worst kinda like the real life creation of nuclear technology irl

Boruto addresses this from time to time, especially the anime. They even sometimes slightly discuss the fact that peace time can lead to being unprepared in certain instances.

This is interesting stuff, guess I'll have to.
