SAS a hack as always, but Max had a pretty heavy response considering ESPN barely wants to talk about this (and to the surprise of no one, ESPN didn’t upload this clip themselves)

Stephen A Smith just told the athletes and staff of NBA teams to stay in their lane regarding China.

Thank you Max for not being a bum like SAS.

Lavar Ball and his sons have stood against China. LaMelo is coming and he will finish this.

The world sucks.

I miss the late 80s and 90s when the biggest debate was if Michael Jordan was the biggest fraud of all time and a horny teen could get by with a Victoria's Secret catalog.

People growing now have to worry about real shit like if their President is a traitor and climate change.

Damn. Last years playoffs was so good.

I think Kawhi’s shot it more historic. But Dame really did em dirty with that one.

"Nichols also mentioned that instead of massive crowds gathered for the Lakers' arrival (which was expected) there were only dozens of Chinese fans awaiting them and the small crowd covered their faces when cameras were present out of fear of being associated with the NBA "

Not even 6 am and China is already busy dunking on Adam again. Is he gonna make them play in an empty gym?

Best moment of last year

Vs

Its the Kawhi shot.

That is literally in the conversation for greatest shot of all time. I have never seen a shot like it before.

Lillard's was just a standard cold blooded game winner. We have 3 of those every year in the playoffs. Maybe from not as deep but it happens.

There is an article on De-kobe'ing Tatum. Stay away from the Celtics with your Laker scum plants.
Kawhi just won a title with an unstoppable midrange game.

That’s a proven formula in the playoffs.

But let’s pay attention to internet nerds who want everyone to play like Harden and then rip him when it doesn’t work in the playoffs....

Let's ignore Kawhis defensive impact, his ability to shoot all over the court, and the rest of his teammates. It was purely a mid-range two that won him the title!

The best formula for a playoff contender is versatility in offensive game, and the ability to play two ways. Tatum lacks any type of versatility, and doubling down on the one thing he was already good at (shooting) did not work out for him, the Celtics during the regular season, or the Celtics in the playoffs, and his defense is fairly mediocre as well. Kawhi played within the system fairly well too which is also important.

If mid-range shots were the most viable thing, then DeMar Derozen would have multiple finals MVP's. Kawhi didn't shoot those shots because he wanted to, it's because offenses are designed to give those shots to players who play a lot of iso.

Kawhi is easily one of the most versatile scorers in the league next to Durant.

You are right. It is more complicated than just midrange and a 2 way superstar like Kawhi is worth his weight in gold.

But its one of those things where both sides are kind of right and won't listen to each other. Anyone who has coached basketball knows you want the offense to generate good shots in the paint or wide open 3s. But at the same time there will be times when your offense is going to break down and you need a KD or Kawhi type player who can just generate his own shot, which will mostly likely be something in the mid-range. Thats also something that can be learned or worked on. No matter how hard you work you are never going to be able to just bull your way to the rim at will like LeBron. But you can always work on your shooting and add a post up game etc.

But the analytics guys don't give the midrange game enough importance for those 9-10 possessions you need it in a tough playoff game. And the old guys are dumb to think you should not focus on getting good looks at the basket, open 3s and an offensive system that goes after the same and only using mid ranges when it makes sense.

In fantasy land the reason the Raptors won the title wasn’t because KD and Klay got injured. Mid range is fine if you get to the line in addition to it. If you don’t do that you’re not a good offensive player. Period.
