Guys, if I'm only playing single player season/manager mode, how much do mtx affect me?
I assume I'm in the minority, though.
In years past you could spend like 1000 VC to convince a guy to sign an extension and stuff like that. Your owner gives you VC rewards for meeting his goals. The payout of playing a manager mode game though is very small — 250 or so instead of say like 1200.

I don't know if any of you have encountered the missing name that's plaguing myCareer players who used a demo build to start that mode. Absolutely insane.

I'll just play 2K19 which I got for almost free, and then get this when it hits a similar price point, I believe it was like $3.

Also, this thread is basically a Jim Sterling signal.

I have been grinding all weekend and my only complaint is the load times. They are bad. Everything has been progressing for me. I read on Reddit (yeah I know) that people progressions stopped because they have done the badge glitch.

Hmm sounds a lot like Gears 5 to me, at least with the tieing single player modes to servers for... reasons? and that seems to cause a bunch of problems.

Game play feels completely updated, it's a testament to how great the team is at making a great basketball game. The always online bit with terrible servers is definitely obnoxious. I wasn't able to play through the story when there was the outage, which should not be a thing at all. Having to go through online to update my player is always obnoxious. Definitely the best product when it comes to game play and modes and the worst when it comes to everything involving an internet connection.

i have yet to have a single one of those issues

load times are the quickest ive had since 2k17..............i also have an SSD in my Pro
Progression is working as intended, no more badge grinds either thank god. You earn the point and just spend it on anything you want.
Have played 15 games in mycareer and haven't crashed once
Also improving your character is the fastest it has been since the PS3 days.

This is actually the most enjoyable 2k in a long time and my brother thinks the same. We both haven't had this much fun in a career mode since 2K17. You are not stuck loading into a crappy neighborhood after every game, everything to access for the most part is menu based and its extremely fast loading into just playing basketball. Slashers are fun, shooting is fun, playing a center is fun again.

I wonder if everyones complaints is because of the neighborhood/park..........which we rarely touch and bother with because its always been garbage, apparently they just now finally fed up with it.

It's funny how the NBA 2K community is upset because servers are broken, and this thread is people projecting that it's actually about microtransactions.

In 2K the servers and VC go hand in hand. They always gotta update through the server when you earn/spend VC. So you could literally finish a game, earn VC and then its crashing theoretically which seems to be what is happening on occasions.

It's funny how all the money they make from MTX isn't used to improve the core product.

Edit: Core product is supposed to be a basketball game, not MTX casino games. But 2Ks core product with NBA 2K series has become MTX casino games and advertisements.

Is there any way to check your User stats in this series? Is there a career profile section (like overwatch) where I can see them?

Don't want to sound like THAT guy but I had a pretty flawless experience in terms are crash and all (OGPS4 here). The VC grind seems (altho I haven't played much) pretty disminshed this year - my biggest gripes are the stripped down and pretty much useless offline MyGM experience and the terrible MyCAREER story.
Now granted I haven't played online and don't really plan to.

I experienced none of this. Maybe the load times are a little longer than last year? Certainly not "extremely long" though.

This whole weekend I experienced it. After finishing a Park game, it just freezes for 3-5 minutes. Trying to upgrade your attributes takes forever, yesterday I couldnt even do it. When I went to apply it I kept getting "purchase failed"

What platform are you on? Seems like maybe PC got it worse than consoles.

Stop buying it, and get NBA Live whenever it comes out instead. The Create-a-Player modes don't have any mtx, and progression to starter levels is actually pretty quick. I hope EA still plans on releasing it instead of cancelling.

*edit* sorry for the double post I thought I was editing my last post

And this was from Mike Wang in regard of the progression issue. This is unacceptable

Ppl got what they deserved, they continue to show year by year to 2k that everything they were doing didnt matter, well mates, greatness awaits.

The NBA2K games had always had all kinds of gameplay, system and internet problems. The devs always either remain silent or refuse to acknowledge these problems.

Couple that with the atrocious loot box scams, makes 2k one of the worst developer and publisher.

Finally people are made aware of how shitty these games really are.

I didn't realize the cultural impact this game has outside of my gaming bubble. It's fucking massive and a bunch on viral IG channels keep making memes about it's release as well as celebs and comments on general. This game really has that mindshare.

On Steam this has 2/10 rating (overwhelmingly negative). I have never seen a game score so low on steam

I have no sympathy for people who buy the same game with the same issues every year. That said, it sounds like NBA2K20 is actually pretty good, based on this thread, so good for them.

Edit : wow, they just discussed this issue on BBC lol. Looks like this is catching fire. Great

People need to drop 2k for a year. Should have been this year when they uploaded that gambling trailer

I bought last year's game and I apologize

It cost buyable currency to unlock the option to change your lineup in the default associate mode in 2KTWELEVE

you people are all responsible!!

edit: actually I think it was 13. It was the last one I bought.

Used to be my favorite sports franchise before they ran it into the ground with VC. Now I haven't played any 2K sports games since 2K16. The last NBA Elite was decent, but still needed a lot of work.

I picked it up on Steam last week. I'm blown away by how good it looks and how fast the load times are - but I'm also playing off of an SSD with a 1080ti and Gsync monitor.

I'm sure the grind is still terrible, but I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Have only played myTeam. Haven't spent anything on microtransactions (yet).

It's been shit since 2k17 (and pretty bad even earlier) I stopped buying the games till they drop to less than $10.

VC is cancer and it's the worst mtx there is, like people arguing how bad Battlefront 2 or Fifa's mtx but they aren't even in the same league on how scummy nba2k is. I'm tired of the community ignoring this shi tbh

Mike Wang (the lead dev) has had a few "cryptic" tweets like this. I know it was always percived, but I think its even more obvious now that Take Two is telling them to do whatever make players spend more VC, smh

2K20s icon is just 2K19s again.

Last week, it was #FixMadden
This week, it was #FixNBA2K
Next week, #FixNHL20
3 weeks from now, #FixFIFA20

It's been delayed but EA could likely just kill it anyways.
