Two months before WikiLeaks released emails stolen from the Clinton campaign, right-wing conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi sent an email to former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone anticipating the document dump, according to draft court papers obtained by NBC News.

"Word is friend in embassy plans 2 more dumps," Corsi wrote on Aug. 2, 2016, referring to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, according to the draft court papers. "One shortly after I'm back. 2nd in Oct. Impact planned to be very damaging."

"Get to (Assange) [a]t Ecuadorian Embassy in London and get the pending (WikiLeaks) emails," read the email to Corsi dated July 25, 2016, according to the draft court documents.

Corsi said he declined the request and made clear to Stone that an attempt to contact WikiLeaks could put them in investigators' crosshairs, according to the draft court documents.

Instead of turning down the request, Corsi in fact passed it along to a person in London, according to the draft court documents. Corsi said that person was conservative author Ted Malloch.

Eight days later, Corsi sent the email to Stone saying that WikiLeaks possessed information that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign and planned to release it in October.

Can you be caught more red-handed than this? He blatantly lied about following up on Stone's request to reach out to wikileaks (he claims he "forgot"), he tried to scrub his email (this never works), and he openly mentions the hackers as part of the conspiracy.

These guys are so fucking dumb. They're men, and they're white, and they're rich, and they get away with whatever they want their entire lives, as long as they stay out of the spotlight, but as soon as they're thrust into positions of influence, they lose any ability to pose as reasonable, competent human beings because they don't know how to be anything but fucking shitlords. They're all being held accountable, and they have NO FUCKING IDEA what to do.

Thank god for email existing in multiple places and Mueller being smart enough to look upstream.

Oh boy, scrubbing information to avoid trouble? That's a big red flag right there, it seems like this Corsi guy is in a lot of trouble as well as anyone else involved in this. They may have the President as an ally but they are not the President, and they painted a target on their backs which the Special Counsel is going to hit.

I was initially excited by this but my excitement is tempered; this is evidence these idiots decided to lie about something they initially were fairly blatant about (with Trump basically suggesting he knew what the emails contained before the final dumps), which is really what they are sort of fucked over (being gone after for lying.) But isn't this also evidence that the Trump campaign were outside actors to all of this?

What I don't understand is, these emails didn't contain shit. These clowns didn't think their correspondence was gonna get out, but they still talked about the data dumps like there was damning information amongst them. This entire fucking country sucks, WikiLeaks released fucking recipes and even co-conspirators were too dumb to realize that the real story was just releasing loads of hacked crap, not that there was actually anything incriminating.

I work at an international law firm. I am constantly in contact with and assisting attorneys regarding all kinds of crazy shit, and you might make the assumption that they're smart enough to write a legible fucking email. But a majority of them use emails like fucking text messages. It's ridiculous. Five or six one-word or one-sentence emails shot off consecutively, within a minute or two. Too busy to apparently collect their thoughts and compose a paragraph, not too busy to load and send gobbledegook a thousand times a day.

Reminder that the FBI dragged Malloch (Farage's friend and frequent radio guest) off an airstrip in Boston back in late March and had him testify in front of a grand jury.

Well its quite some coincidence that this all happens just weeks after the Trump tower meeting. I don't know what they have but I think that Corsi rejecting the plea and Manafort reneging on cooperating is a sign that they think they can fight this.

Its also worth noting that Corsi is the source of these leaks. These drafts are from his plea deal.

No. They don't assume that. It doesn't make sense. This has been covered ad nauseum in multiple threads about the investigation. They're just really that stupid, and think they can get away with lying because that's how they've lived their entire lives. It really is that simple.

During the campaign they were all laughing, teasing the DNC/Hillary on social media, hinting at further dumps, basically winking at the camera. Trump himself infamously asked Wiki to release further damaging information on Hillary on national television. They truly believed that they would never get caught, and that even if they did, Wiki moonlighting as a news organization gave them adequate cover for requesting the documents (it still might; it hasn't been litigated yet).

As pointed out above, once the FBI investigation into Flynn and dossier came to light, everyone went into panic mode attempting to delete all traces of ever having been involved, and developed sudden simultaneous amnesia of ever having met with or spoken to anyone from Russia or from Wikileaks. It has taken almost two years to peel back the layer of lies.

The next, and probably final step, is revealing communication from Assange to the Trump campaign (through Stone and his intermediates), revealing communication between Assange and Guccifer, and revealing communication from Stone keeping the Trump campaign in the loop. Stone has pretty much blurted out the latter portion in his attempt to prevent looking like a fool in the face of Bannon spilling his guts to the FBI and the NY Times.

Of course, even after all that happens, the Trump campaign is already ready with the next pivot: sure it's true, but none of this is a crime because Wikileaks is protected by the first amendment. Mueller's conspiracy charge has to clear the high bar that the interested parties were actively aiding the GRU's counterintelligence campaign, disseminating the information in exchange for _______.

Corsi is only being charged with lying to the FBI though; is there some other evidence he's some huge "get" other than.. he committed that crime fairly blatantly?

The actual act they lied about; trying to get leaked data that someone else has.. it's shady.. but what crime is broken based on these emails? The emails are not evidence that they had anything to do with the hack.

Right them being blatant about their "insider knowledge" is what I was referring to in my post.

They then clearly lied about it.

But isn't this evidence that: they had nothing to do with the hack itself.. they had no direct involvement with Russia in this hack? They after the fact seemed to have found out about it with the rest of the world and then shadily contacted wikileaks about it and got into contact with them.

Other than lying like idiots about all of it to investigators when caught, what have Stone and Corsi done?

All of this has seemed pretty outrageous but this seems to be the most direct link to people in Trump's orbit fucking around with hackers and people in other nations. I wonder what he will be charged with because perjury would let him get off way too easily.

They don't need to be involved in the hack to be co-conspirators. The fact is Trump associates knew about the hacks ahead of time and tried to get their hands on that information instead of reporting it directly to the FBI. There's also the question of whether there was any communication between Trump's team and Russia to use this information selectively to target specific demographics/locations to help swing the election.

Lying was the charge he was going to get in a guilty plea IIRC. I would assume that there's deeper stuff that hasn't been revealed.

Its against federal campaign law to seek something valuable from foreign powers in an election so I think that would cover WL. What is unclear is Corsi's and even Stone's status as being part of the campaign.
