Had 3 hard locks on Sunday that forced me to unplug my PS4 Pro to clear them, only one soft lock that I COULD get out of without unplugging. Game needs a patch before I play it again. I have way too many installed games (I'm 100% percent digital this gen) to have to initialize the system if this game ends up corrupting the HDD.

It seems like a decent game, but they need to fix the crash issues.

Horizon 4 is a downgrade from Horizon 3.

Still a good game but not as good as the previous one.

My favorite is FH2. 3 improved a lot of things (customisation, off road..), but I found the map dull and lackluster. FH4 is just FH3.2, with seasons (which are cool) and a (subjectively) uninteresting setting. And i'm getting a bit of horizon fatigue, and the absence of any sense of progression in the last two games didn't help (You reached lvl 123458, here's a few thoursand more icon on your map, how cool is that !?). My body is ready for FH Japan/South America though.

But I digress... NFS heat map is really good with nice vistas, nices roads with different settings wich feel organic and vast. And bonus nostalgia point, at night it really feels like a true successor to NFS Underground 2, while roaming the port district during the day is very reminiscent of MW(2005).

The few things that needs improvement IMO are the traffic density which needs to be bumped, as well as adding pedestrians and other customized AI cars to race on the go to breath life into the city. Addings things on the world to destroy cop cars and hiding spots (ala MW) would be nice too, because they get really tough on HEAT lvl 3 and upward !

I subbed to Origin Premier for Jedi but decided to give this one a go. It is a really good game. I am enjoying every single aspect of it. Loving the driving, the open world, race structure. I feel like it is a concentrated Forza Horizon. I always found FH series a bit too loose with the progression. Heat's day and night systems give a well-balanced structure to the progression.

I've been thinking, how Ridge Racer-like is the drift handling? I'm reading the GT Planet review of Heat and it got me thinking about Ridge Racer 2 on PSP for some reason where you lift the throttle to initiate a drift.

It was the comparison I made.

Once you get the hang of it, it's fairly fun, but it feels really alien, and I wish they'd change it.

There's two ways to drift in the game.

Either you double tap the accelerator or brake to drift (criterion HP way).

Bumping this thread to try to sell the game to some fellow Era members on graphics alone:

This game looks *really* good.

SleeperSmasher. You're making me want the game more, but I think I still have to wait to find a good price to buy on PC (not PS4)

I will be picking this game up once the Black Friday pricing goes live. This thread, the impressions thread, conversations with a few friends, and seeing gameplay convinced me.

Yes, there is a photo mode. It's good enough, plenty of options, filters and granular customisation.

Thanks! I might get it for photo mode alone lol. Frostbite engine is perfect for a photo mode! One question though, can you change the shutter speed in photo mode? DriveClub's photo mode had a shutter speed option that adds motion blur to the background to add a sense of speed.

Photo mode in this game (like Payback) is pretty basic. No shutter speed options like FH/Driveclub.

The way you open the photo mode is even worse, hold R3 until it opens. Good enough for static shots but when you're driving it's hard to capture cool stuff.

Here´s a few pics that i took

The more I play this, the more it feels like Underground and Most Wanted. The oooonly thing I wish it had was the crash cam stuff from Criterion's Hot Pursuit. I love that shit. 😄

I'm sold on the game too, but I can't find a good price on PC to buy it at. (I'll maybe do the $5 EA Access basic to play a trial of it)

Got a month of Premier and this was the first thing I downloaded. A shame I can't adjust the brightness in-game (PC), can't customise controls, and the map button doesn't work with the dualshock (luckily M brings up the map too). It's a shame there are no replays after races, and on hard difficulty I'm finding it far too easy.

The core of the game is there though. Cars control nicely, and are individual enough to make a real difference depending on the race. One of the things I didn't expect to be praising was the meaty and detailed sound - aural car porn in full effect here. Graphics are decent, particularly in the wet and with shadows casting during the daytime. The completely lifeless city is a letdown, but no different to The Crew 2 and FH. Next gen sorely needed so devs can at least give these towns a semblance of being real.

I'm a bit confused by the structure of the game, it keeps saying I've unlocked cars but I can't seem the find them. Also I once tried to choose Night from the garage, but a second after leaving it said 'night is over' and booted me back to the garage. Aren't you supposed to be able to choose?

Ok once I can find it for a good price I am getting this game. Been craving an arcade racer. As a PS guy, this is legit the only option haha!

Canada, eh?
So ive played a few hours of this. Is the expectation that im suppoused to be doing the same races over and over again? Like going from Rep1 to 7 has been me doing the same 3/4 races over and over...

Im just not having fun playing this

You're unfortunately have to keep doing some of the races over and over again to get your rep up. it's very slow early game, I think by mid-game it pick ups. But again you'll have to be doing it again and again.

Are NFS games typically very short campaign wise? Before I knew it I'm being told "thanks for playing our game". Things were getting super interesting too.

From what I've seen this seems like a bit of a spiritual successor to the original Most Wanted, any truth in that?

You need to go to a car dealership to buy cars. I think there is one near the main garage.

You can change from day to night and vice versa via exiting the garage or clicking on the left stick when viewing the map.

You have to go to the car dealer to buy new cars (on the other side of the racetrack right next to your main garage). As for your night issue, are you playing in manual ? because devs had the wonderfull idea to bind the "shift up" and "enter garage" to the same key, meaning that if you shift too close to your garage when leaving, it's going to bring you right back inside...

I'm still not done with my trial but I cant quite get the double tap the trigger to drift through turns. I thought you could basically race through this with losing minimal speed by braking but it seems you have to double tap to drift through turns and keep your speed up. Basically getting that timing down is all I need. Ohh but when you pull it off and drift through a turn with inches to spare against the wall/dividers *chef's kiss*

Something about the position marker on the mini map is weird. I'm constantly thinking I'm already at the position where I have to take the turn, but on the real map, I'm still pretty far away.

You can't go wrong with Forza Horizon, honestly.

Yeh I know! It looks frickin amazing. That is why I specifically said as a playstation-only guy there isn't much option haha.
It's legit the only game that has tempted me to get an xbox.. think even found a bundle for 140 euro once. Still didn't get it, because I know I'll play horizon and nothing else pretty much.

I talked to the EA support and they said "EA Access is a Sony service, we can't do anything here". Then he asked me to repair my files on Origin. He clearly had no clue about what he was talking about, but later he asked someone else and they said they're working on it.

I just bought the game tho.

Ahhh sorry, I didn't see the PS-only part. Then NFS Heat is not a bad option, The Crew might be the only other thing (but it's not good)

I dont require much from Arcade Racer to enjoy them, but I have 1 question:

Will I get more "enjoyment" out of this game then I currently do from The Crew 2 (which isnt much)?
