At this point, I expect it to happen.Breaks my heart that every fucking time poc get a chance at leading roles in adaptations there always has to be a god damn discussion on whether or not artistic integrity is being maintained.
It better be.Disconnected from the thread, but what is the likelihood of Blue being in the show? 0?
Interesting too because in the script he is in his mid 30s, walks loose and lanky with a slouch that is confidence, arrogance, and recklessness 😂Too young. He should be in his mid 30s. He has too much life experience in wars, mafia, and his history with Julia. Plus, a person in his 20s can't be that cool and layed back.
Here's my second hot take: Vicious fucking sucks as a villain.
While I find Keanu to be kinda a poor actor he honestly would have been good in this role of cool detached martial arts dude. It would have fit his style really well.Yeah. Really hoping they go with somebody lithe and fairly tall for the role who can pull off this look
True true. But this is far in the Future and is not rare(as of now)to see Japanese in Germany. Spiegel is also very common with German's. So his Mom can be Jewish and the Dad half Japanese and German :) Boom, there you go :)
Read the script for the first episode. I loved most parts. They nailed the tone and the leads. I don't know how I feel about this version of vicious but we shall see. He seems a lot more emotional
That dude is probably all white or bust.
You know, I am going to give everyone a pass on this, because I don't want to ctrl+f for Keith David, but Keith David can play Jet. He is a bit older but we all know he can do this.
Yesssss. OMG, I just remembered her from Maniac. She'd be perfect!
The comedy option for Faye, who is described as Asian or mixed-heritage:
Just cast and not assign a label? The anime was purposely left ambiguous. If Shinichiro Watanabe want us to know, don't you think he would have said?
I'm all for diversity but I still want Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Faye...
Would definitely be my second choice!
Everyone is "homogenously" pasty white.
Gulp.Read the script for the first episode. I loved most parts. They nailed the tone and the leads. I don't know how I feel about this version of vicious but we shall see. He seems a lot more emotional
I imagine Scarlett Johansson as Faye, Channing Tatum as Spike and Russel Crowe as Jet.

Too old. Roger Cross from Dark Matter would be better. You know, I am going to give everyone a pass on this, because I don't want to ctrl+f for Keith David, but Keith David can play Jet. He is a bit older but we all know he can do this.
Youre wrong, but speaking of Vicious... he should be played by...Here's my second hot take: Vicious fucking sucks as a villain.

I was joking. I was trying to come up with the most overused and/or whitest ass, generic actors, as to not upset that guy on the first page who is pissed that POC still exist in CB's depiction of future and the whole cast isn't white.
We're saving Terry Crews for a black Lagoon adaptation.
sorry, my connected friend just gave me a physical copy, but im sure itll be online soon.
Lol I mean do you think Vicious would ever say "Kill that Fucker Dead"
Black Jet is one of those things that clearly isn't what his character was portrayed as, but always fit so well
I'm also pretty sure Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine are white too
Nah, I always figured Jet Black was a fair-skinned black dude. I'm also pretty sure Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine are white too, but I guess Netflix wants to sidestep any drama. I don't think they're really giving the audience enough credit though. It's not really a Death Note/Ghost in The Shell situation with these characters.
Well Spike being Asian seems perfectly reasonable to me considering Spike is literally based off Yusaku Matsuda, a Japanese man.Nah, I always figured Jet Black was a fair-skinned black dude. Perfect choice for Faye.
I mean does it have to be a 1:1 likeliness? Spike's racial background was never a huge part of the show so he can literally be every ethnicity combined for all we know. But the fact that every character that doesn't have a darker skin tone seems to automatically default to white is tiresome. Why can't Spike be Asian just cause he is? Why does there need to be a reason to justify it?I've never thought Spike was Japanese. He's based on Yusaku Matsuda's character, but it's not like it's a 1:1 likeliness.
The same with Ivy Valentine being Singaporean but can't really say she's of South East Asian descent too.
