People who may have been exposed should also contact their health care providers if they develop a rash with fever or other symptoms consistent with measles within 21 days after their visit to these locations. It is recommended that anyone with symptoms contact a health care provider's office before entering a health care facility to allow the facility to make appropriate arrangements to ensure the illness is not spread.

Symptoms can begin up to 21 days after exposure to the virus. On average, an infected patient will develop a fever about 10 days after exposure to the virus. The fever can last two to four days and can peak as high as 103 F to 105 F. Following this, people will often also develop a runny nose, cough, and/or red eyes. On average, about 14 days after exposure the telltale rash appears; the rash can last five to six days. It begins at the hairline, moves to the face and neck, and eventually reaches the hands and feet. Measles can spread approximately four days before the rash appears and four days after.

People more likely to suffer from complications include children younger than five years of age, pregnant women, older adults, and people with compromised immune systems. When measles is spread among susceptible people, it can result in serious infections resulting in pneumonia, encephalitis, seizures, and death. Many people born before 1957 had the disease in childhood, and younger people are routinely vaccinated against it.

In other words, if you were at EVO, right about now is when a fever might begin if you're affected. If you have ANY symptoms, call a health care provider ASAP.

Every single time news like this drops I physically can't believe it. It's so goddamn stupid, make vaccines mandatory for like yesterday.

Thankfully I wasn't at any of those areas at those times. I only visited the registration area the day before the carrier and passed by with Lupo several times but never got too close to the place. Carrier was at Lupo on Saturday which is when I spent the entire day in the convention center.

I must've never crossed paths with them at the Mandalay Bay elevators either. Phew.

I'm sorry but if you're going to be in a convention or a tournament or any kind of large group activity, I fully believe that there should be some sort of vaccination check. Like you have to be vaccinated to participate because this is absolutely ridiculous.

Or at least help the participants get vaccinated if they just can't afford it or something.

Imagine being so terrified of autism you endanger the lives of millions of people. I hope everyone who was at EVO is ok, and if not they have a safe and speedy recovery.

With everything else going on with the FGC lately I would have assumed measles was the name of a player in that headline.

Can't be stressed enough, unless they fully omitted it, he only visited one place on Saturday? Doesn't say anything about being in any conference/ball rooms.

Also, it's been about 10 days since the event so now would be prime time for a fever

They went to bed before midnight in Vegas? They were at a convenience store for 4 hours?

Sounds like they're a local who happened to cross paths with EVO, as opposed to a participant.

Wait...does the announcement even mention EVO? Or is the OP just tying it to EVO cause it was at the same time? I can't see it mentioned on the health page.

Glad my kid finally got her MMR now that measles might be in town. I've been paranoid all year that it would end up in Vegas before my girl could get the vaccine.

It doesn't specify Evo, but the timeframe is the same weekend and the locations the infected person visited are all at Mandalay Bay or Luxor, where most of the Evo attendees stayed at. Several tweets about this report were being retweeted by notable FGC folks this evening, so there's some concern that folks who went might have gotten infected.

So in case people didn't read the OP, the warning is not saying there was a massive outbreak of measles of several different people at Evo. It is saying that ONE person in the area at the time has a known case of measles and therefore they are issuing this advisory to people to take precuation because it is a very contagious disease.

any parent who doesn't vaccinate their kid deserves to have their kid taken away. you're endangering the lives of your kid and others.
