New Improved Switch Now Available

Does anyone know if you get your Switch replaced with Nintendo they'll give you a new model? I need to have mine repaired (left joycon won't lock, outer vent is broken) but it's $90 CDN and trading in at EB Games would only cost me $120... Then again maybe EB Games wouldn't give the full trade-in value since it has the broken vent. Hmmm.

so, i got my new switch and already transfered everything and have all my stuff working but there's one thing i just noticed.

the logged playtime doesn't seem to go up. i played enough of a game last night that it should have made the logged playtime go from 30 hours to 35 but it didn't. even the game's internal logged time is higher than 35 now.

anyone else getting this same issue? i'm worried the playtime logged somehow got glitched.

when i set up the new Switch, it asked to log in into an existing account as an option and i did that and my user showed all the playlog data i already had in my original Switch. i assumed it would just continue logging time from wher i left off.

the pic can't be seen that clearly but it's noticeable that the same games' logged times were showing up in the new unit.

That happened to me with my new Switch for the first few days, but it seems to have remedied itself. It's nothing to worry about thankfully, just annoying to see it pop up. For me, it showed it each time I opened up the eShop.

Thanks for sharing. Missed this video. And they tested Zelda which is what I was curious about. An extra ~2 hours is pretty crazy! Almost want to "upgrade" my own based on this, if only I weren't knee deep in the modding aspect... Very cool.

yikes after seeing these screen lottery videos I don't think im going to be upgrading mine at all. I have a launch day switch and it has a perfect screen imo. Ill just get an external usb c battery and call it a day. This isn't worth the headache.

I caved and got one, mine didn't have a green tint and it seem brighter than my old switch. Transferring wasn't the most ideal soulution. They need to fix the transfer process.

Pretty neat. Seems there are tiny benefits to performance on framerate too. I honestly haven't noticed anything major in Fire Emblem, the monastery still chugs randomly so it's hard to tell whether I get more or less drops than I did before the upgrade

6500K is generally what we consider a 'proper' white point, so your numbers are insinuating the older model was too cold (too blue), whereas numbers below 6500K would be "too warm" (red).

What information are you trying to get from these readings?

The app says the new Switch has a warmer (more reddish) screen than the old Switch, which looks about right based on your photo.

just checked my Tv it's around 7100 (I use « cold 1 ») whereas my surface pro which I never change settings is at 6000

I rarely meet anyone who doesn't have their displays set to far too blue if they have the option of changing it themselves. Then they think the correct colour temperature is too yellow. It's a sad state of affairs.

I advise everyone to set their displays to as close to 6500k as they can get it then just leave it alone and get used to it. It will look weird at first if you're used to a blue display but your eyes will adapt. Then when you switch back you will see "cool" displays as the eye-searing abominations that they are.

No since the Nintendo Switch Lite has a smaller battery size. But it'll have slightly better battery life than the old Nintendo Switch model.

man... i feel like this was a missed opportunity for Nintendo to introduce a new docked profile that let the switch run at its full potential. Just max the fans and max the clock speeds and see what happens. In docked mode power consumption isn't an issue, I wonder why they didn't consider this, maybe too many profiles already? they could keep the mobile profiles the same to maximize battery life gains, best of both worlds.

It's possible down the line.. I think they don't want to alienate 1st gen buyers, considering they're trying to replace OG switch with this and its a soft sku reset (despite the dramatic increase in battery and a newer efficent node). They really are giving it the Xbone One S treatment at the moent.

Seems accurate. Your OG Switch has a terrible blue tint, the new one looks way better. 6500k is where you wanna be. I actually prefer it a bit warmer myself.

I don't know, I've tried the app and when I test my new switch with the white design it says 6400K, when I put it in the dark design it measures 7200K.
It's definately a good display, but also not brighter or warmer then my odyssey Switch.

I may have never noticed but I have an usb charger on my dock. On the new one it seems to turn off/on every time I take and put pack the switch. That's the only thing I noticed

for scratchsince day one I just put a micro fiber wipe that I stick inside/outside with double tape and it's 100% safe

Whats the best resource for information on transferring from an old Switch to a new one? I had assumed that if I had all my eShop games on my SD card I could just put them in and im good to go but im not so sure now. I would rather not lose my saves etc
