I'm a bit baffled by this choice. Lots of casual customers will probably confuse it with Xbox One X.
The Xbox One X, the upgraded version of the Xbox One. Not to be confused with the original Xbox, which is just called "Xbox".

Don't know how they didn't learn from Nintendo's Wii/U branding problem.

Would MS know the final PS5 specs by now?

Seems maybe premature to use "fastest" and "most powerful" in promotion this far out

Also if the logo doesn't rotate, pack it in Sony won
It's clear in their press statement they are saying it is the fastest and most powerful Xbox they'll be selling in 2020.

Then you're wrong again.

And I did use VR, precisely why I still don't consider vast majority of its games advanced (or immersive) enough. Tried Oculus and PSVR. Didn't try Vive.

There's nothing more immersive than full fledged AAA games in VR.

Resident Evil 7 was a moment like experiencing 3-D graphics for the first time.

Tangible.

To put things into perspective, 6" high is slightly shorter than 3 PS4 Pro's stacked on top of each other (6.3"). That's no insignificant.

So it's Xbox Series because Game Pass transforms into Netflix

I worry Sony can counterattack this. Cerny did it before with the jump to 8GB RAM that won PS4 the generation. Might he go to 24GB or something even with weaker GPU that may be already locked in place? But then price can be sky high, even 499 might not cover it. I dont know...
Why would you want a counterattack give me two great consoles to play games and I'm good don't start trying to flame a war

we have a product for people who aren't able to get 6" of space in their entertainment system, it's called Xbox 360.

The decision between choosing Xbox Series X and PS5 will be vert difficult for me.

So far, I'm really interested to jump into Xbox.

In the end, It may say a "fuck it" and buy both consoles, However, not both at the same time on this Holiday 2020; I will have to choose one of them.

But how can you be "most immersive" without VR?
I get motion sickness. I've seen estimates as high as 40% of people are susceptible. Plus the expense. Plus people whose eyesight becomes an issue (glasses etc) I mean PSVR is relatively cheap and it's still expensive and only like 5% of the player base has bought in. Plus they got burned on peripheral last gen.

Makes perfect sense to me to skip it.

A Senua sequel puts me the closest I've ever been to purchasing an Xbox with my own money. I like the idea of it being capable of playing tons of Xbox legacy games, too -- that'd catch me up on a lot.

Still hate the "X" branding, but I like the design otherwise. I'm all-digital, so I can probably just hide it behind my TV if need be, ha.

Concern trolling? Even horizontal, this thing is as tall as a healthy A/V receiver...
I don't get the issue. Firstly it doesn't even need to be visible for most people. I almost never touch my X. All digital and Game Pass and that will just keep growing with users. Second, people make room for oddly shaped sound bars and surround sound and Amazon Echo and ....

Actually think it looks cool. I like that it's different. Think how big comparably powered PCs can get.

I'm really excited for this. I think at this point I'm 100% holding off on buying a One X for my 4k TCL R617 that I bought in the beginning of the year, I hope I'm making a good decision.

It just sucks to not have a way to put 4k content on my TV that isn't streaming while waiting for this.

Phil Spencer is displaying supreme confidence right now

"Our goal has always been to build the most powerful console we can, and I think we're there. We like leading in power and performance and I feel like we're going to be there again."

There's no way Sony doesn't try to have the most powerful console. They saw what it did for them last gen (this gen).

the ps4's success had very little to do with it being more powerful and much more to do with it being more affordable and not the subject of multiple hilariously bad PR disasters from the moment it was announced

ps3 was the most powerful console of its era and it still struggled (while the wii was a runaway success for years). ps2 was less powerful than both the gamecube and xbox and it was a phenomenal success. raw horsepower in a vacuum has pretty much never been the deciding factor in a console's success.
