Doesn't really matter, PS5 exclusives are going to look better & that will do the talking. Most people don't care about 1800p vs 4K, which might be the case in some titles i guess?
Cross gen will probably looked the same on both no matter what. And we still don't know about RT. I am more interested in GI than raw power.

Or Scarlett will be "just" upscaled Lockart while PS5 have a dedicated version. And sometimes it is just because of tools, dev preferences or policy.
We all know the PS3 was more powerful and we saw how it ended up on multiplatform games.

This whole Sony downplaying on this thread is starting to affect me. I'm starting to think that Sony will focus too much on the SSD and will put the rest aside. It could end up being a big mistake if it happens. PS5 Pro might be revealed early in the next generation because of that.

I trust what you say, so I want to ask if when you said the consoles are "very close" in power did you mean like a 2 teraflop difference or less?
This is what I'm wondering. I don't think 2TF comports with "very close". So, either Matt et al. knew of the 12TF target all along - meaning PS5 is in that range - or this is a surprise, and PS5 is 10+ but noticeably lower.

October vs December :D
Great OP :)

My prediction:

Xbox Scarlett

CPU:
Zen 2 8C/16T @ 3.4GHz
GPU: RDNA2 @ 1.5GHz~1.8GHz and 10.3TF~12TF
RAM: 16GB GDDR6 @ 560GB/s
SSD: 1TB NVMe @ 5GB/s

$499
Last prediction :D

Lockhart
CPU: Zen 2 8C/16T @ 2.8GHz
GPU: RDNA 2 @ 4TF
RAM: 12GB GDDR6 @ 336GB/s
ROM: 1TB SSD NVMe
Price: $249

PS5
CPU: Zen 2 8C/16T @ 3.2GHz
GPU: RDNA 2 @ 9.2TF ( 10.2TF Prospero Devkit )
RAM: 16GB GDDR6 @ 520GB/s
ROM: 1TB SSD NVMe + HDD
Price: $399~449

Anaconda
CPU: Zen 2 8C/16T @ 3.2GHz
GPU: RDNA 2 @ 10+~12.2TF
RAM: 16GB GDDR6 @ 672GB/s
ROM: 1TB SSD NVMe + HDD
Price: $499

Super close :)

Great news, next gen can't come soon enough.

Damnation. This will certainly throw my PC upgrades back a few years. I'll need to have both consoles if they are this level of good. Only thing is it will cost an arm and a leg to rebuy all the games on new platforms.

Wasn't the 360 worlds above ps3 in terms of power, at least gpu wise? It wasn't even close I thought.

That would be in line with the "MS wants to surprise" rumour from tomwarren. And since the pastebin seems to be almost spot on with specs, it could be indeed true.
I'll be honest, I'd have been happy with 10tf for PS5, but if MS manages to get Anaconda to 12 and still sell it at the same price range, I'll be a bit disappointed with the PS5. If those rumours are true, PS5 must be cheaper.

Who the eff would want a 300w console that sounds like a jet enigne next to their TV? Especially in this day and age, with things being as bad as they are economically and environmentally?

Imagine what that thing would look and sound like. I know you like to play TF Bingo in here but before you happily jump onto every ridiculous rumor out there just spare a thought about what the downsides are going to be for a console that is that power hungry. Navi isn't nearly efficient enough to preserve a console form factor while being silent at 12 TF. Perfomance per watt for 7nm Navi scales almost the same as performance per watt for 12nm Turing. So we're talking 2080 Super performance and power draw here. Not to mention that's just the GPU, this time it won't be paired with a netbook/tablet CPU but with something that is competitive to mid range PC CPUs.

The other factor is price. Do you really believe you will be able to buy a console by this time next year that rivals todays high end/entry level enthusiast PCs (at least from a GPU perspective) for 399 USD?

Yeah Ampere will blow all of this stuff away and RDNA 2 will have performance per watt improvements and a node shrink, but those will be very recent developments by the time the new consoles will be released, as in the Nvidia 3000 series of cards and the AMD 6000 series of cards will be a few months old at most. Thhis 12 TF rumor also makes Lockhart look even worse than before, as unlikely as that seems.

Might as well make one final prediction before everything is officially announced.

Lockhart
GPU: 24cu (28 total) @ ~1,400Mhz = ~4.3TF (Assuming this would mean = Xbox One X 6TF)
CPU: 3.5Ghz
RAM: 14GB GDDR6 (6 1GB chips / 4 2GB chips) @ 560GB/s
SSD: 1TB

Anaconda
GPU: 52cu (56 total) @ ~1,900Mhz = ~12.65TF
CPU: 3.5Ghz
RAM: 16GB GDDR6 (4 1GB chips / 6 2GB chips) @ 560GB/s
SSD: 1TB

PS5
GPU: 52cu (56 total) @ ~1,950Mhz = ~12.98TF
CPU: 3.2Ghz
RAM: 16GB GDDR6 (8 2GB chips) @ 512GB/s
SSD: 1TB

Hmm.. Does that explain the massive cooling system as the 40 CU at 2G is too hot?

probably yes. So ps5 tamed because heating issues.

and to follow colbert twitter

stage 1 : lockhart back alive.

stage 2 : powerful Scarlett leak

stage 3 : ps5 specs, not most powerful.

at least that's what I make of it. Quite the planning. Secrets.

are you trying to indirectly confirm 10.2TF PS5? lol.
Maybe he's confirming a 14TF PS5.

Or maybe he isn't really saying anything.

But this is not significantly less RAM.

It's 30% less... I guess depends on your expectations.

I think the SSDs will help free up memory required at a given point in time, all else being equal. But even with that mitigation, I wouldn't have imagined until recently that 12 (9 for the games) would be the entry point for next gen. But c'est la vie.

It seems he's just replying to if there were a 2TF difference, which would be ~15%.

That just means it's under 15%, which lines up with Klee saying the difference is around XB1 and XB1S (7%)

But even then, that could be read as the difference being a rounding error (1.3 vs 1.4) so there is still some uncertainty regarding specs.

It would be pretty funny if suddenly all the insiders act as if Scarlett being more powerful than PS5 was something they knew all along.
