Looking over the top 100 rankings of 2020 FAs and had thoughts about potential Eagles targets:
- WRs: They will draft from a loaded class. Maybe in double dip in the first 3 rounds. They could end up with 1-2 studs but still need to sign an FA
- WR Robby Anderson - really depends on how they see the market, what they do with Alshon, and how much $$$ they want to invest in the position. Clearly the top choice but I think the price will keep them away.
- WR Breshad Perriman - had a great 2nd half of the season last year. Not sure if they will need to break the bank for him but he would be a good compliment next to DJAX, Alshon, JJ, Ward, and hopefully whoever they take in round 1.
- WR Demarcus Robinson - if they don't want to spend much $$$ and take a chance on a guy breaking out, I guess it would be Robinson.
Was listening to the Adam Caplan podcast and they were reviewing WRs in FA. He is pretty plugged in and breaks a lot of news around the league but in particular about the Eagles.
He seems to think the Eagles will be far more into Perriman over Anderson, simply due to the $$$ involved. Also brought up a WR I forgot to include, Philip Dorsett. Says he is a one-trick pony but its what the Eagles lack severely: pure speed. If they are not in the marker for Anderson, I can see them going after Dorsett on a cheap maybe 1 yr deal.
I was surprised he didn't mention much about Alshon at all. Most Eagles fan and beat writers are convinced he is the one who was leaking locker room stuff and taking shots at Wentz through Josina Anderson. Most fans want him gone but considering the money committed/guaranteed to him, his age, and his current injury and history - I just don't see how the Eagles move on from Alshon.
If they cut him, it will cost them $20m against the cap. I don't think any team wants to trade for him unless its some Brock type of deal where a team with tons of cap space takes him on and acquires a pick as well from the Eagles. I think fans need to come to terms with him being back.
