I thought ours was worse. I didn't realize we play Washington after Arizona...before the break. Even then we don't play again until February 1st. So they're off after January 23rd's game

They tried doing it differently a couple of years ago and found that teams coming off of the bye week almost always lost to teams that weren't. So now they give the bye week in large groups to even the playing field a bit.

There's a lot about the officiating of that sequence that made no sense to me.
