London-based Malaysian comedian, Nigel Ng, who is wildly popular for one of his characters, Uncle Roger, shared that he was randomly assaulted while he was on his way back home from lunch in London. According to Nigel, as shared in his Instagram Story, a random guy walked to him and punched him in the face which caused him a bruised chin and a bloody lower lip.

Nigel went on to assume that the attack is most probably fueled by Covid-related racism. Fortunately, the guy who attacked Nigel was not really a great fighter and he was thankful for that as it would have been a lot worse if the attacker was someone who knows what he was doing.

Nigel is such a nice guy and this unprovoked attack is just shitty behaviour. Hope he is ok.

Probably someone who likes to rinse their rice after cooking.

In all seriousness though, fuck that shit. Covid racism is stupidity at it's worst, as is lumping all Asians in together.

ACAB even in Britain? Those laws exist for a reason...
Yes the laws exists and police report them as such in the UK. The reporting is getting better and is showing massive increases in the actual crimes themselves, which you can either interpret as evidence that the crimes themselves are increasing or that the police reporting of them is getting better (most likely both). Obviously still not perfect and there's every chance for massive underreporting. There is also the fact that a lot of people never report things like this that happen to them which would also contribute to the numbers being lower. I know plenty of people in the UK who have been victims of crime; muggings; harassment; assault and just never bothered to report it.

Also, on the other hand, yes ACAB even in the UK. Especially the Met.

Such a weird permanent ban. It's literally the guys' catchphrase... I understand it being insensitive though.
Edit: I see it was reversed, good.

I posted the context to the moderators with a video and explaination. Seems like it is all clear, just a misunderstanding.

Wait wait who banned this person?? Hiiiyaa is Uncle Rogers signature phrase and he has a whole video encouraging people to use it...wtf mods
To be fair, Uncle Rodger is kinda niche. This board is also kinda US-centric and not huge on Tik Tok which is where I’d argue a lot of Americans know his comedy from. Easy to mistake as inappropriate commentary if you don’t know him or that catch phrase which is multi-purpose. I don’t normally add my two cents on this but the intention was right and it was rectified quickly so....

With that said, poor Uncle Rodger! I love him and I hate these racist pricks. Glad to see it wasn’t worse than it could have been.

That’s disgusting. Racist attacks against Asians are rising everywhere and it seems to be ignored. I’m glad he’s okay.

Nigel Ng just posted on his FB page a short video saying that he is alright, he just has a bit of a cut and swelling. He seems in good spirits because he used his signature "Not good" statement to describe what happened.
